My experience at RSM Acton has been nothing but amazing. Excellent teaching staff and a rigorous curriculum encourage success in their students. They are also very professional and accommodating to extenuating circumstances. Many opportunities to participate competitions are made available, and their students prowess shows through the results.

As an RSM student, I have never hated a place more then this gulag. This place is an abhorrent waste of money and of young childrens mental health, dreams, and childhood. The teachers are rude, abusive, stubborn, outdated. There, all hopes and dreams go to die. The teaching style is a mimicry of the teachers personality, authoritative, out dated, abusive. They read off of a textbook straight from hell, scream, do not explain. The teachers are prone to ranting, throwing items, and yelling at students. The teaching style is pure board to paper, no 21st century student can learn here without degrading into a husk of their former selves. The communication is slow and abhorrent. They do not care about the students, they care about the (dubiously collected) statistics and your wallet. I was a mentally stable child when I entered, after I spent time in the system, I was bipolar, depressed, and cut my wrists. They glare at you and care too much about test results. Do yourself, your wallet, and most importantly, your child, a favor and not send your kids here to suffer.

There are two perspectives at looking at this place:From the perspective of knowledge, the teachers know their stuff, and you DO learn. The place is very old school, technology is forbidden, which is a pro and a con. It takes adjustment, as the Russian methods of learning are extremely different to the standard education system. And from the perspective of a consumer, the place is run down, just like it was, educationally, when it was founded. The people have heavy accents, and can go on rants. One even threw a dry eraser across the room. The education is basic, and is board-to-paper teaching. Class is frequently stopped just because one person misbehaved. The teachers regularly threaten expulsion for minor stuff.

The worst. They are rude. I spent about six months with them for my kid and no improvement. Big mistake to say the least. Then I switched to mathnasium , result was much better.

Here is my two cents. I have been attending RSM for six years, and its a very direct learning style. Most 21st children will not learn anything from this branch. Another thing is that the whole place is rundown, with the desks and chairs rundown. I would not recommend RSM to anyone, I have barely learned anything from this institution. Finally, terrible principal that is old school.

Lecture-style instruction with minimal engagement from students. Teachers too centered on test results. We had a much better experience in another branch of RSM.

Awesome place for kids, but the waiting room is sometimes way too full. Pick another place to wait if you want to be more comfortable.

Place is trash. If you want your kids to be sad and lonely, send them here. Teachers will rip you apart. Thinking that this will help your kid? It wont help your wallet and ur kids will have ptsd. I went here for 3 years and I dont think I have never hated a place more. Thanks for nothing.

RSM Acton is a nice place to learn math in a fun way. Both my sons have been going there and benefited from it. My older son started after 6th grade. He had no extra math training outside typical school before RSM. RSM helped him build a solid foundation in math and introduced advanced topics to him. In junior high, he ranked high individually in state MathCount and was invited into AIME. RSM also introduced a fun math competition called MathKangaroo to him. In high school, he went to a free international math summer camp in Poland through MathKangaroo thanks to RSM. He also got in USAJMO. As for my younger son, I didn’t think he was the type would like extra math class, definitely not any extra homework. One day he was with me at RSM picking up his brother. Mr. Chernin encouraged him and he really wanted to try. So we let him try for 1 semester. To my surprise, he liked it! So we let him continue. Recently his school tested him and let him skip 7th grade math because what he learned at RSM. To us, RSM-Acton is a nice place making Math challenging to students in a fun way.

We went for an evaluation. We were ignored for 10 minutes, then asked to sit and wait. At 25 minutes past our appointment time I decided to leave with my kids. Ill look somewhere else if they cant even treat potential customers with general respect.
