We recently purchased a wonderful draft cross from Crowleys and had a great experience. Alice was very accommodating to arrange an appointment for us to see the horse (we were coming in from out of state), and made sure to have an excellent rider there to show us the horse and get us set to take him for a good test ride. I was extremely pleased that they held him for a pre-purchase vet check, and helped us arrange for shipping back to our farm as well. I even got a post-purchase follow-up call just to make sure I knew details of the feed he was currently on and how to introduce him to his new surroundings, etc. I really felt that everyone at Crowleys cared about the wellbeing of the horse, and of us as customers. I am very pleased with every part of this transaction, and thrilled with our new horse.

Arrived and turned right around because the staff here is NOT masked in spite of standing very close to customers. Nor were they requiring customers to wear masks. I called the office to report this but they seemed unconcerned. This in spite of the fact that their website says in big letters that customers must wear masks and maintain six foot distance. Do not be misled by the website, THIS BUSINESS IS NOT COVID -SAFE.

Good experience today 8/14/20. The lady who showed us how to ride the horse was nice. My mom got on the horse but was scared and got off immediately so she didn’t ride and the lady voluntarily refunded us with no question. Very professional people. Crystal our guide was nice and patient also very educational. We learned a lot about horses. Ice cream and Spoon were very excellent horses. We will be back! Ps they offer fair pricing that’s an extra whammy!

My experience here was just ok. It could have been a lot better and I would probably not come back, but heres how it went...I called the day before to make an appointment, so I was surprised when I showed up the next day and didnt see anyone around. There arent any clear signs indicating parking or office so once we arrived, I called again to notify them that we were there because I didnt know where to go or what to do. Eventually, Joe came out of the barn and we paid and signed paperwork. We went down to where the horses were at and they seemed wildly unprepared for riders. Joe and another girl were frantically trying to get the horses ready. Three other riders showed up (who also had made an appointment) but we all waited for about 20 minutes while they saddled up the horses. Both employees went out with us with one leading and one in the back. Once we were on the trail, both employees started smoking, which was not an enjoyable smell when you are 1. trying to enjoy nature and the open air 2. trying to avoid peoples breath during a pandemic. The ride itself was fine, but a bit boring. The paths were not well trimmed or maintained, so there was a lot of ducking and trying to avoid trees and bushes. We didnt go faster than a trot, so that too was disappointing.Overall, Id say, if you have small children and want the experience of sitting and walking on a horse, this is probably fine (and if you dont mind cigarette smoke blowing in your face). Otherwise, Id look for something else. Im from the midwest and have done guided trail rides before and this was NOTHING like that. The other rides Ive done were on very clear paths and the guide would talk us through trotting, cantering, and galloping. They were very short bursts, so you never felt unsafe, but it was enough where you felt like you were really riding a horse. This was nothing like that, so I was pretty disappointed, especially for $40 a person.

Don’t go here. They don’t treat their horses well. They leave them all tacked up all day in a small holding pen even in the hottest days of summer. My friend and I went last year and the (very sketchy) employee brought us on some trails which I assumed were on their own property. Nope. We almost got in a head-on collision TWICE- with people on dirt bikes using the same trails. Spooked the horses and it could have been an absolute disaster. I didn’t like how the employee treated his horse either. They don’t respect their horses and it’s dangerous. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I was really nervous but once I got on until I was comfortable the owner kept me on a lead until I felt good. This is a awesome experience and we even got to trot but only if we wanted to. The horses were well trained and for sale. Some of them are even champion of a lot of things and perfect for beginners as well as experienced riders. As the guy told me they all had there own personalities and once you know what it is you will soonly learn how to fix it if it was doing something wrong but only it’s things like going to eat grass or pulling the bit out of your hands. It may look a little nerve racking but it’s fine once you get on and on the trail witch is really fun. I had a great time and think you will too.🐎🐎🐴

1st time going horseback riding but not our last! I thought it was going to be like the pony rides at the entertainment park where people ride and someone walks them in a circle. No, YOU are in control. Our guide got us up and riding in 1-2-3... He was very pleasant so made experience memorable. Horses were well trained and cooperative. Trail was long too so def got our moneys worth! Im speaking in plural because went as a couple. Perfect date for a nice day.

Joe was an amazing tour guide! we took an hour horseback tour through the trails. a casual stroll with occasional trotting- their barn had just burned down but theyre still running, I HIGHLY recommend taking a trip here and going for a ride. I came here once as a kid and it was just as great as I remembered it.

After riding many of the horses I loved this place, until I had a moody female worker gave me dirty looks from the time I showed up...she put me on a Breeder male with a Breeding female, i was not aware of this until after i was backed into a tree and the male scrunched into it he through me and ran to the female...this girl yelled at me as of I knew ???? This male tried over and over to knock me off, I found out after the ride she knew this would happen luckily for her this happened in 1985 before lawsuits and social media... I never ever went back and I have condemned places like this ...i have been verbally telling my story for 30 years now and I do not regret it

I never write reviews. Yet I was so shocked by this experience I felt I had to. I accepted a job here taking pictures of these horses for sale, when I spoke to the owner she was very pleasant and seemed really sweet. This was not the case. To start off, my first day on the job me and the newly hired girl were left completely alone with no direction. Her husband just sat in his car and would follow us around and watch us from his car and leave and come back. He even flicked his cigarette at me while I was talking to him lol. It only took me a short time to realized that almost ALL of her 24 or so horses were lame, meaning they were injured in some way. They all walked with a limp, they had Sattles strapped to them ALL day long from early morning until almost 7 at night , for no apparent reason. Also these sattles were strapped on so tight me and the other girl hired could not believe it. They had absouletly no soft ground to stand on in the barn or the outside barns. The barn grounds were covered in horse poop, and these horses were forced to stand on very hard rubber and UNEVEN ground. When I was walking these horses me and the girl I was with decided to lift up their hooves to see why they were limping and found that they had rocks stuck in their hooves. They would race to the grass just to walk easier. Probably why they all walked with a limp. One horse we were told not to touch, when he was finally let out, he could barley walk. Joe the trail leader said he would be fine and he just got a shot. A shot of what? I don’t know, hopefully painkillers. Joe is there only employee with over 24 horses and plenty of cows. And Alice and Dennis refer to him as the “town dummy” . These horses had no food , no water no hay anywhere in sight until around 7 at night. When I addressed theee issues, the owner literally said “ I don’t give a s***” and hung up. That was the end of my days at Crowley’s. Again I’m not writing this because I am bitter I am honestly concerned for the well being of these horses and I think this place should be out out of business or changed owner ship. If I had more money I’d buy and save all theses horsss myself.

The lady on the phone when you call to make a reservation is so funny. I told her i wanted to make a reservation for a trail ride. She said okay no problem. Mind you i have never called this place & this is the first time im ever making a reservation here. But then plans change so i call back to cancel my reservation. She has the audacity to give me an attitude and say to me “youve already done this 3 times” & just hangs up. Uhmm.. lmaooo what? Didnt even take my name or number down for a reservation. & wants to throw false accusations when i want to cancel and clearly have not talked to her more then 2 times, being the first call for the reservation & second for the cancellation. Good thing i never went & spent my money on such rude people.

I took my children horseback riding for the first time and was very disappointed. The office lady dropped the F bomb in front of my children because she thought she charged me the wrong amount. Then, as we were riding the horses, our guide kept smoking cigarettes after cigarettes while my children inhaled the fumes because they were right behind him. Then the guide banged the side of the metal gate onto the backside of the horse trying to force it to go into the stale. I did not like what I witnessed there. We will not be going there ever again.
