One of the finest public schools for college preparation there is. Fantastic leadership and instructors. Cannot recommend higher. The review by former parent below is honest and mostly accurate; however students are given numerous opportunities and close support, small class ratios, etc to improve. It is not an A-factory. Grades are earned and some students blossom later. Freshman year is a deep gut check for any young adult at any school. Many struggle at least briefly, but eventually grow into self motivation and embrace their potentials.

Amazing! Very prestigious. If you have an academically brilliant child who is looking to further his education toward a more advanced level, send him/her here and cross your fingers that they will get in.

My Son attended Asti for the better part of Freshman year.Pros:Challenging approach to standard curriculum. Real strides towards combining ideas and areas in English, History and Art for a very well rounded view of parts of civilization and culture.Outstanding literature choices and analyzation approaches in English.Scientific methodology is emphasized as much as actual science. Large garden provides hands-on opportunities for plant growth experiments.Spanish is the language learned and teacher makes efforts towards using art and imaging projects to enhance learning vocabulary.Strong emphasis on accelerated academics, fast track to local community college classes. Jump start towards an AA degree.Small close knit school, very few disciplinary issues.Bright, Asian children of so-called Tiger parents are a perfect fit for this School and make up its majority. Other students who are of the same mind-set will fit in here as well.Cons:This school caters to self-motivated, strongly well rounded, academic go-getters.If your child does not fit ALL of this criteria; CautionThere is a certain amount of support/tutoring for kids who have mathematical challenges.thats it. There are no electives unless you wish to enroll concurrently in a local high school team sport. Junior year, local college elective classes can be added.Written work, is the large majority of the grade and numerous written papers and responses are due on a weekly basis. This is not a school for the savant w/o social skills or the math nerd/science geek. This is not a good fit if your kid tests high but doesnt like homework. All classes require good writing skills. There are no writing tutors available. Good communication skills, maturity and self-discipline are hallmarks of the average student. Kids who fall behind, stay behind. Once you have lost the faith of a teacher, there isnt much going back. The same small cadre teaches every level. If your child is likely to be crushed and depressed by their first C or D and not driven by an internal competitiveness to work harder/smarter, this school is a disaster waiting to happen.
