The whole Albuquerque, New Mexico operation is bogus and misleading to say the least.Save your money and dont trust these scam artist seeking to take advantage of persons and their families with various disabilities.I initially learned of the Driving to Independence group at the SW Conference on Disability held annually in Alb., NM.There they displayed the latest flashy polished metal technology equipment on display along with large full color posters of their Arizona location including detailed photographs of their extensive fleet equipped with their latest adaptive equipment available for initial demonstration and training at their Arizona facility. None of these vehicles or the lavish facility is available in NM.I paid the initial $1200+ fee and was administered a basic 100 question beginners driving assessment that was to test my safe judgement skills, but were never given any feedback on the outcome. Then I was squeezed into a very soiled interior of an old used foriegn compact, which was their only test vehicle, that I literally barely able to fit into that was only equipped with a couple aluminum rods and levers to compress the pedals. Nothing at all similar to their fancy displayed showcase from the conference. After the farce of the road test, I inquired what would be the follow up services of what I had paid my $1200 upfront fees for. My instructor, who was one of the owners of the company informed me there would be a substantial additional fees of over a thousand dollars for further training and equipment purchase and installation in order to proceed in their program.Save your money, the only driving to independence found was my money taken for no credible reason, for their grossly misrepresented program of disability related services. Please advocate for yourself as well as for others in similar circumstances. Even if you have any insurance coverage benefits to help offset the astronomical prices, do whatever you can to help stop these RIP off scammers.
