I didnt make it past registration. It took two weeks and 4 phone calls just to receive enrollment information through email. They are very rude and condescending. It was as if my business wasnt wanted or valued. Luckily Ive found the perfect daycare for my 18 month old daughter elsewhere!

Our son has been attending for two years now (started when he was four months old) and we only have positive things to say. Ms. Elaine and the teachers are caring and thoughtful, and celebrate the small milestones of our son’s development with us along the way. We know they are taking every precaution they can during the pandemic and offering a safe environment to grow, learn and just be kids.

My two children attend The Nest Academy in Del Ray and our family has had a very positive experience. Both of them have attended since they were babies and my son is now almost five. They love their teachers and their friends and learn so much at The Nest. The teachers are caring, compassionate, patient, and dedicated to their students. Ms. Elaine is the rock that keeps the school going! It is a nurturing environment in which kids can grow. The Nest is dedicated to working with each child at their own pace, and in making sure their needs are met. Kids develop along their own individual timelines, and The Nest celebrates this and encourages kids along the way.My son is learning to read phonetically and can do basic addition and subtraction, meanwhile he and my daughter also love doing art projects and singing songs and dancing. Kids are able to be kids here.In a very difficult year, The Nest has worked hard to keep kids, teachers, staff and families safe and healthy. There is a real sense of community among the families that attend The Nest, and this has helped ensure protocols are followed. I thank The Nest teachers for all theyre doing in what I know is an incredibly challenging and stressful time for everyone.

Our son was at The Nest from 5 months old to 19 months old, and we left only because we moved out of Alexandria. It was such a wonderful experience for all of us, I can’t speak highly enough about the teachers. If you want your child to be in a loving, calm, educational, routine-based environment, then the Nest is for you! Yes it’s expensive but so is every daycare center in Del Ray and Old Town. Last year we had the chance to transfer to a slightly cheaper center, but declined because of how our son was thriving at The Nest.

We have been at Nest Academy since our son was 1.5 years and our daughter is there too. The staff is really lovely and have become part of our family. They love our kids and do such a wonderful job caring for them. The director Ms. Shamsa is amazing and will work with Parents and answer any questions or concerns they have. We couldn’t have asked for a better place.

I have had both my children here for about a year now and I am very happy with the care my kids receive. The facility is clean. The teachers are attentive and care about the children. Any issues are addressed and resolved in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend this daycare to another parent.

The first time we met with the Nest faculty, it was a warm greeting and we were encouraged by the cozy atmosphere and a nice system. We thought it would be a perfect fit for our then 15-month old boy who would be starting soon. When we returned a month later to enroll, all of the original staff had been completely swapped out for a less experienced staff. The owner ensured us that everything had remained the same, so we trusted him.The first two weeks were miserable. Everyday that we showed up at drop off and pick up, all the kids seemed sad. It was rare to see any smiles. Even on a nice weather day, we thought water day would be fun for all. Instead it consisted of kids forced to walk in circle just to be lazily sprayed with a hose by a staff member that was not even into it. Kids simply were not given affection. It was more of a tough-love operation. The owner kept ensuring us that everything was fine.We soon came to realize that only one teacher had much experience working with toddlers, however, she was only on a part-time schedule. Even with a newly hired staff, the owner only showed up a couple of hours a week. He gave a convincing impression of being genuinely concerned about our 15 year old being new to daycare. But it quickly became apparent that his academy was more about booking kids to fill their account. If you consider trying them out, I strongly recommend making a deal with the owner to have a trial run first. Sadly, the only good thing I would recommend about Nest, is its location.

My son has been attending The Nest Academy Preschool for a year before he went to kindergarten. We were going to Del Ray location in Alexandria. We just loooooved the teachers over there. So positive, active and energetic. And children definitely learn a lot there. If you are looking for a preschool that gives attention to academics, then you have found your place.

Be careful with what you are told with. At first I was truly excited of joining, I met with the director at the nest academy at Alexandria location and staff which made me feel very comfortable into believing I made the right choice. I specially asked about the Child Care Aware of America’s Military Child Care regarding military assisting program. The director did mention the nest academy was part of the program which at the time led me to put down the deposit ($500 by the way) based on the information she presented. When I did my research and tried to fill out the paperwork in advance for the program I found out she was incorrect with the specifics of OMCC (which is for deport military members which the academy is a part of), and MYCCN (which is for active duty military which the academy is not part of). This is where I wanted to emphasis the importance of customer service, due to the fact that it was because of her behavior and mannerism; which caused me to make the decision I am about to inform you about. When I called the center and informed her about the situation she stated that she was the wrong person to contact and to instead contact her HR department. It is this type of wording and tone which has remained with me several days later and made me feel like my business did not matter. As a concerned parent I give information about my findings so other future candidates are properly informed not mislead. Because she did not inform me correctly about the program and when presented with the correct information she made it known it was not her department to know. As a director or any leadership position it should be your job to know what is the most recent update information that promote business, trust, and reliability when any of these factors are question there goes clientele.

I had a wonderful experience at Nest Academy, Alexandria. My daughter was taken wonderful care of at the school. She was happy and enjoyed her time there like everything. I had to wait for her atleast half an hour daily because she did not want to go home. Staff and all of the teachers were wonderful and gave proper care and attention to the children all the time. One day, I saw the owners and happened to request them to make some changes to add on for children safety, and trust me, it was taken care of that week itself. I feel very grateful and thankful to them for taking wonderful care of not just my daughter, but all other kids at their school. Would highly highly recommend the school for parents who want to get assured that their children are in good and safe hands. Thankful to Mr and Mrs Ben, Ms Shamsa, Ms Elaine, Ms Rana, Ms Gweyn, Ms Yodith, and all the remaining staff.

Weve been coming here for a year and a half with our two children, and we love it. Its a very warm and loving environment. Our oldest has learned a great deal from the instruction, and we feel he is emotionally and academically prepared for kindergarten. The tuition is not low, but is comparable to other daycares in the area. The only downside is the small parking lot - its a real monster some evenings. Even that isnt enough to detract from 5 stars!

Our daughter has been there for one year (since age 12wks) and has really thrived in this environment. The teachers are all very caring, warm, and loving to all the kids - not just the ones in their own classrooms. Each class has age-specific activities, and everytime we have visited we get to see the kids interact with the other students and the teachers & director. Our daughter gets to learn words in French, Spanish, and sign language. Everyone is very hands-on, the facility is very clean, and the rules are very strict (for parents and kids!). The teachers happily recommend activities for us to continue at home to enrich our childs learning experience, and they are able to accomodate our childs schedule so as to keep her on a steady routine. Its a wonderful preschool environment and we are so happy to be a part of this family.
