As a current member, Ive really begun to appreciate the holistic approach to wellness. Though I am not focused on the movement aspect, I find it to be a perfect complement to the spiritual and meditative elements of each class. Ive been to class every day of the week, and each day brings something different, yet all of it acts together as part of the whole. When in class, the instructors are both caring and careful giving instruction that is both loving and direct. I am treated as both a cherished member and individual. If there is any improvement needed it is simply to have a sunrise class so I can get my fill before I step to the office. Five stars! Definitely a place where you can learn how to improve the integration of body and mind. Peace.

My experience with Body and Brain Yoga has been very fulfilling and eye opening. I joined because I wanted more balance for my life as a full time working mom, wife and mother of two little ones ages 2 and 1 years old. Some of my goals included being present with my kids and NOT feeling overwhelmed and stressed. I am pleased to say with the help and guidance of Body and Brain Yoga Masters and instructors over the past 6+ months I have achieved my goal. Even my family have noticed an improvement with how I respond to my demanding life events. I am someone that continuously seeks to learn and self improvement and transforming my mind and learning to meditate has been a huge challenge but is paying off huge dividends and rewards. I truly believe I have inner peace and the freedom to be myself and speak my truth. I understand that this huge transformation will require continued investment of time on my part to continue these great habits I have started like meditating and breathing at least 3 times a day:)

After only one month of yoga classes at the Alexandria Center I feel deeply inspired. I had visited several other studios in old town and am so glad I trusted my instincts in choosing Dahn Yoga. The atmosphere is welcoming and supportive, and the center is aesthetically soothing, comfortable, and clean.The gracious instructors are genuine. The personal attention, wisdom, and compassionate guidance Master MJ and Jenny extend with sensitivity and patience to each participant are remarkable. I feel cared for and encouraged in a most sincere way. They have created a gentle healing community where participants gather with purpose and respect, promoting a lifestyle that encourages a deeper mind-body-spirit connection.Classes incorporate deep stretching, strengthening, brain fitness, and breath work, as well as detox exercises for better circulation, digestion, and stress release. As a result, I experience greater flexibility with each class, improvement in my balance and posture, and feel positive changes in my mental clarity, energy, and outlook.I had been experiencing the tangle of conflicting emotions that retirement often brings, so I especially appreciate the emotional and spiritual benefits of the meditative exercises. Integrating concentration, breathing techniques, and gentle movement as a way to find inner calm and a decreased sensitivity to stress, the meditations go beyond the physical to support expanded awareness and emotional release. I continue to find an increased sense of emotional resilience and well-being.I love being a part of this exceptional experience, and feel profound gratitude for my instructors, my fellow participants, and for Dahn Yoga.

Ive been attending Dahn Yoga Alexandria regularly now for over 2 months, and I must say, personally, its been one of the best decisions Ive made and one of the best gifts I couldve given myself. Unlike other yoga programs Ive observed, Dahn Yoga is more than just yoga. With its comprehensive approach to working with the whole person (mind, body, heart), it stands uniquely on its own.Though they focus daily on the physical aspect, as you seek further inner development, youll be pleasantly surprised to find that the program also offers a number of other events you can take advantage of like private sessions, workshops, retreats, lectures, etc. I myself am blessed to be able to take advantage of the private sessions and Ive so far attended one phenomenal workshop which was an absolutely life-changing experience for me. In the 2 months Ive been attending Dahn Yoga Alexandria, I can attest to a more peaceful, connected, fun-loving, adventurous, focused, healthy, and physically-centered attitude. I dont fret the small stuff, Im more and more connecting to what grand things I want to achieve in this world, and more importantly, I can touch my toes again! Its nice to meet my much wiser and more flexible self again :).But the biggest secret to what makes Dahn Yoga Alexandria truly special, is the staff. Not only is the center warm, clean and inviting, but the staff is warm, friendly, and always ready to greet you with a smile. MJ and Jessica, the two primary staff are just phenomenal. Rarely do I meet such sweet and genuinely caring ladies. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and they always, and I mean always, take a few minutes to chat with you and find out how youre doing. That kind of genuine personal attention is truly refreshing and never fails to put a smile on my face.

Most of the time we live by our brain, and forget our body and heart .... Thats way how pain comes out! But Body and brain yoga teaches you very interesting and useful ASIAN style yoga exercises that get you connect your body and brain same time...Also there is very special way to find out your true yourself workshop that I attended almost triple time... seems like...There is some miracle, or something or universal high energy! My wife died of cancer at home in early January, 2013. I experienced her loss deeply but kept it locked up. I had responsible job and needed to keep going with a stiff upper lip. Two months later I serendipitously joined the Alexandria Dahn Center. It proved to be a life altering decision. During meditation exercises, my suppressed emotions kept surfacing, so I took the Shim Sung training, hoping to ameliorate them. During that weekend, through the program of exercises, I confronted my terrible sense of loss, fully released the blocked emotions and directly experienced that the absence of that external source of love could, through new self-knowledge, be transformed into a remarkable personal gain. I was completely surprised by the transformation. My love for her was no less strong. It is simply mine to take forward into what I sense is a bright and exciting future -- the opposite of what I forecast before. Thanks Shim Sung and Dahn yoga. I mean i.

I have never posted a review on anything, but felt compelled to do so for Body & Brain Yoga. I am a new member, and joined about 4 weeks ago. Within these 4 weeks, I have experienced drastic changes. I had incredible digestive issues and never felt fully centered within myself. I have no doubt that these two issues goes hand in hand. Spreading myself so thin between work, family, and social life I believe that this was contributing to the physical effects on my body. This was proven to be true when I started my classes at Body & Brain Yoga. They truly take the time to educate you on your specific health condition. From there, you will join classes that will start to change your life. In just 4 weeks, my digestive issues have improved drastically and Im starting to reveal a new and improved me. The class experiences are amazing, but the people that you meet can be life changing. Master Victoria have been with me through every step of the way. Her caring spirit makes you feel like your never alone and you truly feel as if your part of a community. I am so happy that I made the decision to do something for myself and join Body & Brain Yoga and I hope that more people would be inspired to do the same.

Im relatively new to Dahn Yoga and Ive found my experience to be fantastic! I have a number of significant stress factors in my life and Dahn Yoga has helped me tremendously. My stress level has been reduced tremendously and I leave each class truly relaxed, refreshed and with a clearer head. The teachers all encouraging and extremely pleasant. Its really nice to see their smiling faces when we walk into the door. I recommend the classes to everyone.

Since you enter Dahn Yoga in Alexandria you receive a warm welcome -that was my amazing experience. Every time you enter the center they greet you like they were waiting for you -they demonstrate interest in your progress. Dahn Yoga has raised awareness that everything that I need is inside me. I feel stronger and centered everyday. I can surely say that I am a happier person. Shimshung workshop was one of the best experiences of my life; it has pointed me in the right direction on how to connect with my true self.

I joined Dahn Yoga about six months ago. My primary reasons for joining were to increase my flexibility and reduce stress. Dahn Yoga is helping me reach those goals. Although it is different than what I originally expected from yoga, I find each class provides a unique combination of exercise, stretching, breathing, and relaxation/meditation. I’ve notice a great improvement in my flexibility, and even just bending over to pick things up from the floor is easier. The Friday “Vibrations” class is wonderful for shaking off the stresses of the work week and starting the weekend relaxed.

I have done many types of yoga over many years. I really like Body & Brain Yoga because every day is different! It is whole body, mind and soul. I look forward to class and miss it when I am out of town. Three years ago I had a stroke and this Yoga has been the best therapy. Come join us, you dont have to have past experience to start and there is no competition, just do what you can!

Ive been a member of Dahn Yoga Alexandria since February, 2013. I was hesitant to join at first-- so, I was very surprised to feel positive changes in my energy and demeanor at my first session.As Ive practiced through the months, Ive learned how to quiet my mind, focus my energy on healing myself, and to maintain a positive outlook so that I can continue to increase my endurance, strength, and flexibility. I have been attending Dahn Yoga classes regularly for about a month now and I have already seen significant improvement in my strength and balance. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well.The instructors are all very warm and encouraging. There is a variety of classes that they offer, each with their own benefit. My digestive system is much healthier from the intestine exercise class (I used to have terrible stomach pains regularly). I am more flexible and peaceful from the regular yoga class. Ive gained strength and perseverance from the Dahn Mu Do (a healing martial art) class & have more energy and focus from the vibration class.I see a lot of growth in my future with the help of Dahn Yoga. I would recommend Dahn Yoga to anyone who is looking for a way to feel healthier, happier and more balanced in life.

I have been a life member of Body and Brain Yoga for 11 years and I love being in class most days of the week. I was recently on a trip for 4 weeks and I really missed every aspect of the class - stretching, challenging my body physically, participating in brain wave vibration and meditation. I have been taking class at Dahn Yoga Alexandria center for almost a month now. My experience with this style of Yoga and this center has been phenomenal. The mixture of Yoga and meditation at this center has changed my body and mind tremendously. When I started, my body was very stiff and my mind was staggered all over and I was depressed over the loss of my mother. I had no interest to do anything but after few days of starting doing yoga with the help of instructors I was able to gain my interests and energy back and my body was more relax and flexible. After couple of weeks I see myself a positive person and with more energy and that contributed to lose over 6 lbs in 2 weeks. The center is very clean; instructors are very friendly and they are spiritually ready to welcome you every time you enter inside the center. All of these attributes contributed to my interests that I would like to come and exercise every day. If you are looking for a friendly place where provide combination of yoga and meditation then I would recommend Dahn Yoga Center at Alexandria.

I started at the Dahn Yoga center in Alexandria less than a month ago. Thus far, its been a very rewarding and enlightening experience. Dahn Yoga is not the typical yoga experience, its much more. In addition to developing increased flexibility, strength, and endurance, Dahn classes have helped me learn to connect my mind to my body and thereby focus on consciously reducing my stress level. As they say in Dahn...Everything comes from the mind, and the state of of the body changes according to the mind. ... A good portion of each class is devoted to deep breathing which has been incredibly therapeutic for me on many levels. I have also found it particularly rewarding and inspirational exploring the energy force that exists around all of us. ... The center itself is warm and inviting and the instructors (and participants) are very caring and encouraging. You never feel intimidated since everyone is simply encouraged to develop and grow within their own capabilities. Given a long career of office work and externally focused thoughts, it will no doubt take me some time to reach my full potential. But, I intend to continue this pursuit under the watchful attention of my Dahn Instructors, Jenny and MJ (SueHo). I encourage anyone with similar goals to do the same.

This place is a scam. I went here looking for a relaxing atmosphere, to take a break from work and the homestead. The took the time to sit and talk with me, then after thirty minutes they suggested some of their packages, totaling thousands of dollars!!! Seriously? They dont care about their clients, they are just looking for money.

I only did Dahn yoga for about a month as a father-son activity and I thought it was great. If you are looking for relaxation and meditation this place is perfect. Personally it was not the best fit because I was looking for a more physically demanding yoga, but I thought it was a great transition into this. For my father it was perfect because it does focus a lot on stress, relaxation, meditation and stretching. The energy meditation was incredible, I definately learned much about the energy flows in my body.The instructors there are also wonderful. They make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in and always put a smile on your face.

I have been member of the Alexandria center for more than month now.. It was very challenging at first thanks to my instructors MJ and Jenny they encouraged me and helped me on my quest to be physically fit and mentally strong. I am in great shape and I feel great. As for the center, it is clean, very pleasant and finding parking is not that difficult. There is also a bike stand in front of the center. Thank you so much MJ and Jenny.

I started Body &brain yoga 10 years ago , because I had severe seasonal and food allergies . and taking generic medicine just made it worst . So I decided to look for natural healing , thats when I found a body & brain brochure in my mail box. since the first moment that I felt the energy on my hands doing ji-gam meditation , I felt a sense of peace and happiness , and thought to myself this is what I want to do my whole life. The moment you walk in the door, you are treated with compassion and respect. Theyve created a safe harbor to relax and focus on your body. I have a high-stress job, and taking classes three times a week over the course of two weeks has already made a huge difference in my stress levels.I have to say, though, that the instructors are quite gwiyeoun, and that was a bit distracting at first.

I was looking for an option to help me cope with the stress and health issues. I stopped by Dahn Yoga in Alexandria. MJ was there to greet me and to give me information on how they practice healing yoga. After a short video she showed to me, I knew this is what I have been looking for.This is my third week and I am so grateful for everything I learned. Now I can focus more in myself and quiet my mind. During these three weeks I attended three workshops. I have to say that the Shim Sung workshop is a life changing experience. I noticed the change in my life, I see my life brighter and I am happier.

I came here for the first time back in March for a little one on one session, and the next thing I know.. it ended up turning into a year full membership.The teachers are great, they do an amazing job in the classroom to truly get the most out of the students. They want to make you feel comfortable, but they also want to see if you can get you out of your comfort zone- which really is the best thing about Dahn yoga. Pushing yourself beyond the boundaries which youve been accustomed to is what I think life is all about, and dahn yoga helps you explore that, both physically and spiritually.The thing that causes me the most the pain is my back. It has been hurting for quite a while now, and since Ive started coming here, my back feels a lot more flexible and less tight. The back exercises they conduct make me bend in ways I would never think of, and it definitely helps a lot to perform these exercises.Im happy I decided to finally sign up after months of contemplating.

I found this place through a happy hour event at Teaism, where I met some of the Dahn yoga staff, who were extremely friendly and caring. I decided to try a free class here, and was surprised at how fun and energizing this is- even more so than any other yoga I have been to. And, it was not physically challenging or draining, made for any age, any fitness level. There were young people, people in their 70s, overweight people, all walks of life in class with me, and everyone was warm and welcoming.I have tried several classes here, and each time I leave feeling this amazing energy and wondering why I didnt come to class sooner. We are all so busy, we forget to take care of our bodies and replenish our energy that gets drained at work, at home taking care of kids, stuck in traffic. Just come here, try the free class, and see if its for you. It is not really yoga (not like formal Indian style yoga) but more like stretching and gentle movements, sometimes some aerobic-like exercises, tapping on certain parts of your body to get the energy flowing. (heart, stomach, head, etc.) No crazy postures that you have to be super flexible to hold :)One thing I want to add- if you do come here for a while and like the classes, try the 2 day Shim Sung (self-discovery) training. I resisted going for a while, but finally I came to my senses- who doesnt want more confidence in their life and a sense of inner peace, connecting to your true self? I can say without hesitation, it is a life-changing experience. I had never done anything like this before, so I wasnt sure it would affect me- but, it changed my whole perspective of who I am as a person. I immediately had more confidence in my decisions, and in my interactions with my parents and coworkers. My partner even noticed a difference in my energy- I love the sense of freedom I have now, and I truly know how to find happiness. It sounds cliche, but it works! I am so grateful to Dahn yoga for having this workshop, and to my teacher SuHo for telling me about it and convincing me to try it :)

My life would not be the same without Dahn Yoga! I came into Dahn Yoga very depressed, stressed out, and unsure of my purpose in life. After only 3 months of practice, I am no longer on anti-depressants, I have the tools to manage my stress, and I know what I truly want in my life. I also found a connection with my spirit (true self) that I had lost several years ago. I have tried several types of yoga in the past and only recommend Dahn Yoga to my friends because it is a real solution to many of our problems. The Dahn Masters at the Alexandria center are amazing! They are passionate about helping others, they are knowledgeable about the human mind and body, and inspire their students to grow and reach their fullest potential. You should go!

I had just moved to the area and was in search for a place to continue to practice yoga. I came across Dahn yoga when I was searching online. I had never heard of Dahn Yoga before so I was a little hesitant to try. But the reviews online were so good, so I decided to check it out. Me and My fiancé went and meet with the awesome Manger MJ. We tried a trial pass for ten classes and then we were hooked! The place is conveniently located right off the Metro in Old town. The space is clean, warming, and welcoming. We both really enjoy attending the classes and even though we are younger and in somewhat of good shape we find the classes to be challenging and feel great after class. The mediation of Dahn Yoga has helped me out in numerous ways in my life and it shows.

Dahn Yoga is a modern repackaging of the traditional Asian healing arts that have existed for thousands of years. Their low-key, non-competitive approach alllows you to start anywhere and progress at your own speed. The physical exercise was challenging to me initially and remains so, but the emotional and spiritual benefits are really quite amazing. As a typical male (I admit it grudgingly), at first I didnt see the connections between body and mind, but now I understand that seeing the body and mind is the secret to getting rid of stress while remaining highly active and productive. I continue to be amazed by what I am learning from our wonderful head instructor , MJ, and all of the Dahn staff. Try one of the free, open classes!

I love Dahn Yoga Alexandria! I have been going for more than 6 months now. I am middle aged woman with an intergenerational family including two elementary school children, a more than full time job etc etc... I was exhausted and frazzled before going to Dahn Yoga. Master MJ and her instructors have made the experience of embarking on this new adventure - amazing. I never feel silly or inadequate for not being able to do a pose in class. I feel more energized and healthier than I have in a long time. When life overwhelms me, I have now have ways to find peace and calm.

I never thought I’d try yoga again, but Dahn Yoga is different, and at this Alexandria center after a couple months, I’m physically and mentally stronger than I’ve been in years. I’m still no athlete or human pretzel – just a writer with a few decades of broken bones, sprains, dislocations, bumps and bruises. My current options are low-impact, though I’m usually more adventurous, and will get back to the crazy stuff, but I won’t give up the Dahn Yoga.Here, I get an hour of a workout as strenuous or relaxing as I choose. Every time I walk inside, I’m welcomed like a beloved family member at Thanksgiving Dinner. When I leave, I’m hugged, given a smile and good wishes. Of course it all makes me want to go back. What better way to motivate people to take care of their body and mind?In every class, our master has us bow to greet each other, of course. Imagine: a centuries-old symbolic practice of human respect that today serves no legal function for safety or security. Just civilized acknowledgment of other people sharing an experience. What better way to promote friendship and peace?Uniforms or suggested loose flowing clothes make it impossible to see bulging muscles, scars, or love handles. What better way to reduce insecurities and inhibitions? In addition, our eyes are closed at times, or the lights dimmed for specific movements so as to reduce sensory input, and let us focus on our own bodies where there’s tightness or blockage, to open it up – even the brain. What better way to create physical AND brain fitness? I’m in!Call it Life Particles. Energy. Karma. Electricity. Whatever. A rose by any other name… But do find it at least once in your life. OK, now. Go here. Close your eyes, and see for yourself.

What a neat place to stretch, strengthen, and make friends! I really like it here!That was my comment when I first joined Dahn Yoga in Alexandria about a year ago. Well, recently I found out just how much Dahn Yoga had helped my BODY! I helped my husband paint our deck, including all the twisting and turning it took to paint the newels. I was at it about 4 hours in the hot August sun. Well, the next day I was a little stiff upon rising, but by about noon I felt great! No stiffness, no aches at all! I have been doing Dahn Yoga since November and I really like it! I like to say that Dahn Yoga feeds my soul. Jessica and SuHo care very much about every one of their members and take a personal interest in everyones well being. Their instruction is very good- excellent cuing and reminders as to what each movement is doing for you and how it should feel, while encouraging you to do your best and perform at your own level. The class feels like fellowship. I have found peace, happiness and patience in my heart since attending Dahn Yoga, and the power to choose my feelings and response in any given moment. The Shim Sung training is life changing- the positive effects and learning continues to grow long after the training is complete. It simply must be experienced to fully understand. They have open classes on weekends so you can give it a try for free. Attend with an open mind and an open heart- you will learn something new every time you go. Little by little it all makes sense and you understand what each excercise or ritual does for you...its so good for you on so many levels. My only wish is there was a class at 6 am so I could start my day with Dahn Yoga- I am certain my days would be even better!! Give it a try!

I never thought I would love Yoga the way I experienced it at Dhan Yoga in Alexandria/ VAIt was recommended by my sister who takes Dhan Yoga classes in Cambridge / Boston/ MA and I just wanted to give it a try with the trial session. I have been going almost every day and it did me so good. I felt fresh and relaxed after the class. Not to forget the 2 young lovely ladies who take care of everything. Suhu and Anne, the most friendly ladies, always smiling and greeting us with nice words...I would recommend it to everybody who needs to feel fresh and relaxed.

I would recommnend this system to anyone. I have been doing martial arts/energy work (different sytems) off and for about 12 years. This is the one I have found that produces results the fastest.I have held tension in my spine for many years but never knew how to realise it. I am on my way to becoming whole.

I arrived to Alexandria, last September, with a very hard pain in my lower back and weighting 210 pounds. I went by Dahn Yoga Alexandria, I went in and I found Suho, I decided to try it, with not much faith.I been careful with the eating but Dahn Yoga helped me reduce the anxiety, I lost 16 pounds since I started in six weeks. My stretching exercises, very easy (some of them) allows me to do them at home, when I cant attend to class. I first learned about Dahn Yoga through my brother who surprised me with an introductory class that significantly impacted my life in 2011. I stand amazed to date, at my body’s ability to rise above and go beyond my perceived limitations and develop a deeper awareness of my physical, emotional and spiritual self. From the start of class, it was humbling to learn how little I knew about my bodys needs, and the fact that none were being met. As a commitment to self, I remain inspired to “do my best” and attend classes regularly and utilize techniques from Dahn Yoga so I can apply them to everyday life experiences for results that work in managing emotions and continue reaching beyond the obvious.I enjoy the ambiance of going to the Alexandria Center, conveniently located near King Street Metro and plenty of places to dine or hang out after class. Also, I would be remiss if I don’t mention the staff of incredible instructors (Master MJ, Donna, Jenny, and...Oh yea...not to forget Jessica…welcome back, and others) who make up an amazing team of incredible spirits that keep things “moving” and “rocking” from start to finish.In closing, I have not visited many Dahn Yoga centers; however, I believe there is nothing to compare to the Alexandria facility. It’s the place to be if you’re looking for a life changing experience.

The Alexandria Dahn Yoga Center is wonderful place to by for my Yoga, the Master MJ is great caring and really loves all of us and cares about helping us to improve and advance in our life. She know that Dahn Yoga method help and work and she true feeling relate the method at a level the all can learn. As for me it has been the greatest experience with Master MJ and all the staff at the Alexandria Center. When I first arrived here I knew the experience would be a good one based on my first conversation with Jessica, after the first session with Master MJ and her classes it was even better than I expected. I enjoy going to Yoga 3 days a week and would love to go everyday. All the yoga is targeted toward individuals and their specific level of development. I would recommend the Alexandria Center to take Yoga, Here they treat you with as a wonderul person.

Im just starting out at Dahn Yoga, Alexandria branch, King street. I am a 61 year old man and I joined his programs, looking for more flexibility and balance for my body and help me in my search for greater inner peace. The few days that I have attended have shown me that I can benefit a lot from their programs, both physically, mentally and spiritually. It is a pleasant environment that transmits enthusiasm for life and for spiritual and physical health.
