Excellent driving instructor. Very laid back instructor but knows when to be firm. Also has very good reaction time, and instructor knows when you are ready or not. I missed 0 errors on my driving test thanks to the proficient tutelage of this driving school. Instructor can be very flexible regarding timing and schedule. Would recommend to all.

Lessons were really helpful and filled with lots of great tips and details! I gained a lot more confidence behind the wheel and felt fully prepared for the test. My turning, traffic checking, acceleration/deceleration control, etc. improved dramatically. Would definitely recommend to those wanting to improve their driving and pass their tests!

If you’re looking to pass your driving test with flying colors, then this is the school for you. I recommend this place based on their instructors (especially Derek). If you have him as an instructor, guaranteed you are learning from the best as long as you listen to his stern instructions and be able to receive his strict criticism. Those traits are exactly what you are looking for from an instructor , because that is how you know they are putting a lot of attention and effort so you can pass your exam and get on the road as a licensed driver. I improved a lot learning from him and made me aware of my bad habits. He’s also very friendly and will start conversations with you, which made my driving lessons more enjoyable than a silent dry driving course.

The driver instructor (Derek) seems rude at first, but after a while he loosens up. You won’t have many issues with him as long as you communicate with him. Although he doesn’t seem like it, he’s patient. The only driving practice I had was with him during the driving lessons, meaning I had no help at home, yet I was still able to pass my driving test with no critical errors.

Derek and Carly are so great. With my hard work schedule they were able to accommodate and be flexible with it to make sure I got all my lessons in. Derek is a great instructor and easy going and your firm when you need to be. Overall great experience and passed on drive test!! :)

The Driving instructor is easygoing but firm. He will let you know what you’re doing wrong and point them out on the spot. The schedule for the driving school is flexible for you if you can’t be there that day or at a later time.😃

Derek my instructor was very detailed, stern when it came to teaching me the correct techniques. Also, what to look for when driving, what to look for on the test, and was great at explaining situations and there possible outcomes. Additionally, being open to any question or concern I would have.

Very friendly and professional instructor, and I had no doubt that I would pass my driving test. They are very fast with their communication and never leave anything left to question. It was very easy to sign up for lessons and I did not have to wait a very long time for an available time slot . Test preparation was vert straightforward and easy to follow/understand. I passed my behind the wheel test because Derek was such a professional instructor. I learned a lot from him, from basic to being a defensive driver. I highly recommend ADVAN Driving School! Derek is an awesome instructor! He definitely has an eye for details—he’ll tell you exactly what you’re doing right and wrong, and he has amazing reflexes. As a parent it’s hard to entrust your child to others but Derek and his team were very professional, helpful and patience and were there to answer any question or concern I had. Highly recommended. I shopped around and yes there are less expensive services out there but Advan Driving School is worth the money if you seek a team that can relate to the student and bring parents piece of mind.

This is going to be a really long review because I want to share how instrumental Advan was in helping me pass my driving test.TLDR: Could not have done it without them! Great value and accommodating to teen drivers or adult learners with a full-time schedule alike.I called Advan after failing my test THREE times. I chalk it up to being a nervous tester and lack of technical direction. My family helped a lot but fell into one of two camps: very careful and technical but too nervous to teach me OR relaxed but could not provide the technical direction. Advan’s good reviews made them one of my top choices. I scheduled my first session by phone call and got reminders by text. Throughout three two hour sessions, Derek provided a thorough assessment, lessons on fundamentals, insights, technical guidance, constructive criticism, encouragement and lots of feedback. I was super nervous when the time came to take my test but managed to pass with only two minor errors. I was super happy and wished I had called them from the beginning!As a new driver, I feel safe and have gotten much more comfortable driving. I truly appreciate the help I received!

When I searched or google for the best driving school in Los Angeles California, ADVAN school is the first on the list. So I called up and the lady I spoke was courteous and nice. Their prices are reasonable for 6 hours. Compared to other driving schools. their prices are truly reasonable. I availed the 6 hour combo plus the brush up and use their carb during driving test. Then Derek will pick you up to your home and you can pay him for your lessons. No need to go to their office. During my lesson, he will explain in detail the concept and the right Way of driving in a safely manner. Sometimes I asked him too much questions but he’s very cool and gentle. He will explain in detail to let you understand well. Derek is very cool and flexible because I asked him nicely if he can drop me or pick me in my requested locations and he will drop you or pick you in your requested locations . If I call in the office and left voicemail messages to call me back, she would call me back right away.He also built my confidence in driving from residential, side street and esp to freeway. That’s why on the test exam I’m confident on my driving test though I was quite nervous . Truly, I passed the exam today and I am very happy. That’s why I am giving them five stars and certainly recommend them to all from students, first time or who had drivers license in their previous country to get this ADVAN school. Great small business that is worth your support. Dereck, the instructor, does very well to simultaneously communicate fundamental driving instructions and driving exam tips at the same time. This turns out to be invaluable when taking the test, as you feel very prepared for a lot of the things that get thrown at you. I picked ADVAN driving school because it’s close to my house and has great reviews. Honestly, you don’t have to actually visit the school to make appointments; it’s all through texts and calls so you’ll save time. The reception lady is super nice and tells you clear instructions and my driving instructor was Derek (like everyone else lol). Derek is super chill and funny, though he is picky (sometimes). But that’s because he really wants you to learn and pass. Better being pointed out your mistakes before than later right? Instruction times were really fun and he gives you straightforward instructions as well. Derek is pretty strict at times when it comes to the important things and will come on to you several times if you don’t remember. But it’s worth in the end since each thing he taught will be drilled into the brain.

Today, I just passed my driving test! Thanks Advan (Derek & Ryan) for the guidance & for teaching me everything that I need to know about driving. Most especially, good driving habits for a first-time driver like me. The 10hrs driving lesson helped a lot & gave me the confidence & know-how. But I highly recommend more driving hours in order to pass the test. If I had the chance, Ill take the 20hrs driving lesson. The more driving hours, the higher the chances of passing the test. Also, if in doubt about traffic rules, dont just google it, ask them (Derek/Ryan) and theyll provide you with correct & precise answers. I was taking classes at ADVAN school several months ago. I arrived from Russia where I almost didnt drive - my driving license was lying on the shelf useless for years. So when I came to San Gabriel I was like a newbie again. Derek helped me to reanimate such basic skills as steering control, changing lanes, parking, he helped me to overcome my fear of freeway and gave me important tips how to get prepared for the California DMV test. Derek is very patient and cooperative coach, with a good sense of humor, so I enjoyed every hour of the learning process. As a result, Ive passed both written and behind-the-wheel DMV tests just with few errors, that I attribute to exam anxiety :)

As I hadnt driven or had lessons for a while I also found it helpful when instructor Ryan took my first lesson to ease me back into driving and made me feel confident. I had been holding off on getting a license for a while because i always had anxiety about driving but eventually i got a permit and signed up for lessons.First time driving was with ryan. It was a comfortable environment for all 3 lesson. And i didnt hit anyone or anything so that was a success.Then I took three more lessons because I hadnt driven for a month and got dereck and he helped me get better. Didnt hit anything or anyone again so that was a success.I paid 160 to borrow a car and sign up for the dmv and a last minute practice before my test and that was well worth because I passed on my first try with single digit errors.It felt like cousins and uncles teaching you how to drive rather than just instructors. Id recommend them to anyone learning how to drive

If you are not good at English, Dereck will use very professional Chinese teaching and will take you to practice all the key points of the exam.
