Firstly I am in eighth grade instrumental. And this school is one of the best schools in the area. There are all these dumb reviews giving one star for no reason but believe me this school is really worth it. All the teachers are super nice and teach the students very well. The lunches are bad but there are some good ones mixed in . There is a great emphasis on arts here of course and in my opinion all the art teachers do their job excellently. Would definitely recommend.

I am an alumni from this school and graduated last year. I believe that if i did not attend this school, i would not be where I am today. My teachers were always supportive and never shut down any creativity. There was never much stress added to my day adding an art form and I am thankful for that. Arts Academy gave me so many amazing opportunities to perform and it got me to get out of my box. There are so many memories that I could never forget about because of Arts Academy

Going to Arts Academy was the best decision of my life and my parents agree. It has given us so many opportunities to perform our arts, and the teachers help us to to be the best artists that we can be. Many of us have had amazing experiences because of the help from our teachers such as getting accepted into esteemed dancing teams, getting lead roles in many musicals, and even making it to the finals on the kids voice. The whole school including the students are very welcoming and support to ALL people. They have all become a family to me and I dont know what I would have done without them. I love them all so much. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS SCHOOL. P.S. everyone who gave bad reviews must have liked this school or they wouldnt have gone a whole or multiple years here.

Probably one of the best decisions I’ve made in life. I went from a public school, having no friends, being picked on all the time, and feeling different and ashamed, to feeling equal, having tons of friends, and I honestly have never been made fun of here. The teachers are so amazing and honestly feel somewhat like friends. The students are amazing. Only thing I have to say is the lunch is not the best, but the school cannot do anything about it. I feel like I definitely learn a lot and get challenged at this school. This is my last year here and I’m sad to leave.

Its a Great school! its very fun and has nice teachers. I rated 3 stars and i would have done 5 but the school in my opinion isnt as clean bathroom wise but cleaner everywhere else, also the school lunch is a bit more.....questionable and different but other than that its a great school!

I wouldnt have even given one star, thats still to good for them. Students would be better off at a normal school! Teachers and staff have all proven time after time that they DO NOT have the students best interest in mind. It has been a poor experience and in my opinion, this school should be shut down. Faculty does not treat students well, and seem to act like children themselves. I have also witnessed and brought to the attention of staff, that I have seen teachers bullying the students, and nothing was ever done. They seem to make up their own rules as they go, and the rules seem to apply best to benefit the staff, not geared towards fairness for students. Horrible, horrible, horrible, did I mention horrible? My daughter wanted to go to this school because she wanted to pursue the arts, now she wants nothing to do with it due to her experiences at this school. Just deplorable!

Firstly, I’d love to say this school is amazing. The teacher’s are relatively good at their jobs, pretty clean and the artistic time you get is awesome. Nonetheless you’re probably wondering why i gave it 1 star? I am an Eighth grade, my english teacher is Miss McEnroe, honestly being in her class is bordering making lives, hell. I see so many of my fellow classmates (me included) constantly being disrespected by her. Yes we make mistakes, we’re only in 8th grade, but as a mature adult this teacher should have the integrity to be respectful towards us, regardless of our ages. an example of this is, there’s a kid in my class who’s sometimes confused, language arts isn’t exactly their strong-suit. when they ask questions to better understand the subject at hand they are treated poorly, and are given responses that are condescending and rude, to the point where some of my friends have told me she’s making them depressed. This school would have 5 stars from me if it weren’t for Miss McEnroe. From, Angel Martinez.

This is Owen Wilburn. 4 years in the arts academy. This school has been the best experience in my life. I know some of the people who have made dumb 1 star reviews and they are the kids that are lazy and dont do anything. I loved all my teachers and how their lessons went, sure there is a little bit more homework, but its worth it to be in this school. All my classmates in theatre are now basically apart of my family. Yes this school has jerks, students and some teachers, but if you can get by that, this school will make memories to last.

Honestly I don’t recommend this school. I think that the teachers are not very good at teaching visually. The kids here are ghetto and impolite. I can’t say how many problems I’ve had at this school. This school lacks communication. The only thing good about this school is the fact that you can do somthing you love for a part of the day without much stress. I’ve prayed my way through so much I’ve been here through. 5-8, so yea I know a thing or two

The main problem with this school is the fact that most of the people aren’t learning anything outside of their arts. Like how over half the kids in my class are failing math & humanities. Also the kids are horrible to others, and the teachers NEVER tell them to stop. Even if the teachers did tell them to stop, I feel like they would do it behind my back. My friend told me that the biggest bully in my class called my art project trash. I had spent weeks on it, too. I can’t stand this school and I try to fake sick to get out of the mess they call AACMS.

Im currently an 8th grader at this school and let me just say I would absolutely not be where I am today, when it comes to my dancing abilities, if I didnt go to this school. When I came to this school in 6th grade, I was exposed to so many different types of dance genres and moves that I never knew existed. In addition, students here get a plethora of opportunities to show off their talents to the outside world. All in all, after coming to this school, I could never imagine myself attending a regular school.

I am an alumni that graduated last year. I went to this school 6-8 grade and it was an amazing experience. When I transferred here in 6th grade I was so nervous but the minute I walked through the doors I was greated with smiles and positivity from all the teachers. They are so supportive and ALWAYS in a good mood. They make you laugh all the time and make classtime fun. All the memories from this school are nothing but positive because it’s such a friendly community. The arts are challenging but in a good way. They push you to be the best and make sure you are the best you can be. There is such a strong support system with each major it’s always fun to be around. I completely recommend anyone who wants to pursue arts in their future or loves to have fun and is creative to come here.

I do not recommend this school at all. the teachers and staff treat the students like trash, you have mounds of homework every night, and you spend more time in your art periods then in your academic once you hit 8th grade.

This school has its ups and downs. I have been attending this school for a while now and I feel like i should share my experiences. First, regarding the teachers i feel that most of them can be AMAZING and can make kids eager to learn! However, there are a couple of teachers that can make you dread going to the next period. For instance, when i was in 5th grade i had a teacher that flat out insulted me. I walk into the class room and i sit in my chair not harming anyone or anything. Then this teacher stands in front of my desk and says you hair looks weird i said thank you? Then she said i didnt mean that in a good way. And then she rolled her eyes! WHAT KIND OF TEACHER DOES THAT?!? But, as i stated most of the teachers are amazing. Second, there is way too much homework. Knowing that your students pursue arts during and after school you would think that we would have a little less homework than we do. My friends and i have had easily had to write an essay and do at least 5 pages of work for 1 night. Now take that and imagine you have a 2-3 hour dance lesson that same night....thats enough to drive you insane! Well anyways aside from student drama and things i just stated this school is an amazing place with wonderful people and i hope you can agree too!❤💛💚💙💜-kalley

My son is in his 4th and last year at AACMS. Teachers have been very good and the teacher/student ratios are lower then public school. He started in theater, while that was fun he discovered his passion which is guitar. He went from never picking up a guitar to playing all kinds of music today and he has the highest respect for his guitar teacher Mr. Eisenhower. Right now he is learning Under the Milkyway Tonight , Africa Walk the Ocean and the 8th grade students are writing a song. I listen with awe and pride for his accomplishments at 13 years old. If your child is interested in the arts this is a great school. Like most things in life, you get out what you put into the experience. It wouldnt work for my other 2 boys (one is all sports focused) but for my middle son school IS more interesting because he gets to spend 2 hours a day doing something he loves. He keeps his grades up because of the ARTS. The bus ride is 30 min from Palmer and maintaining friendships outside of school a challenge with kids spread out but otherwise great experience. Last year he went to Quebec with his French class for a 5 day trip and this year the graduationcclass is going to Baltimore for a day. We are very lucky to have found the school and these teachers who are also there because they share a love of the arts. Thank you AAMCS!

The only thing I liked about this school was playing my art. Literally all of the academic teachers and ms. Kanik (art teacher) are rude. The students have a very short lunch, and when we want to dance at lunch (our only free time) the teachers yell at us. SERIOUSLY!!?!!??! We are an art school let us have some type of way to express ourselves like the “Lehigh Valley charter High School For The Arts”. I shadowed there and it is so fun. They teach us about different races, art, history, and so much more. The middle school has no diversity what so ever. For Black History month they talked about celebrities today like Beyoncé and Michael Jordan did they do anything for us when we were in segregation or slavery? Did they help with the civil rights movement? Were they even successful BLACK people during slavery and segregation and wars? NO! this school doesn’t care about anybody but themselves I’m very disappointed in this school. And how could you bring kids to see an Anne Frank play when it’s black history month. And black people were cut open alive because hitler wanted to see if black people were human. Black people were treated so much worse and you guys keep telling us about Anne Frank.

I think the school is very bittersweet. i, myself, have been in the school for about 3 years now and i dont know where to start. i think one thing is that the teachers can be inconsiderate. you learn more and more and more things about the teachers the longer you go to the school, and every year the teachers can either get nicer and grow fond of you, or rude and seem like they don’t want to have anything to do with you. i don’t want to name names, but there aren’t that many teachers who do this. ever since my first day there i loved the community, mainly the students, and i’d be lying if i said they didn’t cause trouble here and there, but i still absolutely love them. for teachers i’ve never really been too happy. teachers that teach the arts (for me specifically theater, vocal, and visual art) are honestly the nicest human beings to have as teachers. they make classes fun and their personalities make me want to be in art classes, but, academics can be different. most academic teachers are some of the coolest people, but some, on the otherhand, can seem like they hate you for no reason whatsoever. i only have this problem with about 1 or 2 teachers but it really does imact my everyday life. i would like to say that these people have the ability to change, but, i really think they do not. it doesnt even have anything to do with homework, it’s just the teachers’ overall attitude. this is in my opinion, but i can’t learn and work while a teacher is picking and choosing who they want to be their favorite students that day, and who they want to absolutely despise. and i would say that im a particularly easy person to get along with, so i don’t see anything that i do wrong. i just think a conversation with staff is something needed, i dont want a teacher’s stubbornness and inconsiderate behavior making me feel stupid for asking a simple question any longer.

Warning: Before you bring your children to Arts Academy Charter School at 1610 Emmaus Ave think twice as a matter of fact 3 or 4 times . It all started last year when my 11 year old daughter first had dreams of attending this school for Dance and Vocal classes.... We were told that our daughter had to audition and then we would be notified if she was accepted. It was a long summer and my daughter had wrote down on the dry erase board that she prays and hopes she is accepted. When the letter came and was given to her the look on her face was priceless when she found out she was accepted. My daughter is very quiet and easy to get along with. After being accepted my daughter was very nervous and anxious at the same time to start the new school. For the first few weeks she would come home and cry and locked herself in her room and that she doesnt want to be there and she wanted to be in the school with all of her friends from Mosser Elementary where she attended the previous 2 years . Me and my wife who works for Allentown School District was kind of forcing her to stay in the school because of the future she would have and little did we know the real reason she wanted to leave was because she was being bullied. I went up to the school with my wife and spoke with the principal Jan Labellarte who was not helpful at all and assumed it was just kids not getting along and stated there will be a meeting with the parents of both children. Ms Jan labellarte also stated that the issue will be taken care of. Later on that day my daughter was receiving text messages from the bully stating she was going to get beat up for saying what happened. We again went up to the school and spoke to the superintendent who was aware that the principal did nothing to resolve the issue and was a little upset that he knew nothing of the situation and when we stated we would take out daughter out of the school for safety reasons he immediately said yes thats thats the right idea which as a superintendent William Fitzpatrick of the school. I believe the issue should be look into instead of having a child give up her dreams because of bullying. The following day my daughter who is in the 6th grade receives messages from an 8th grader that she does not know also threatening her I have taken my daughter out of the school and will be doing whatever necessary to keep her safe and in a school that she will feel safe in. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS SCHOOL AND ITS ON GOING ISSUES.
