I started with the trial period, then I planned on staying for a month. But working with a trainer/coach/teacher like Montana, you cant help but to get motivated to get better andbetter.Im older, and not in as good of shape as my youth days, but coming here each week working with A1 experts like Montana and Freddy has motivated me to focus on my technique and conditioning to get in sparring shape and who knows, maybe one day compete.Ive learned so much from Montana in a little bit of time. I could see myself training for years.

Ascension MMA Alpharetta is an incredible facility that engages and encourages all athletes. As a fellow educator at a school that focuses on students with learning differences, Head Instructor Freddie and staff invited my group of kids in to learn basic self defense. These girls lacked that confidence in their physical abilities. At first it was lots of giggling and timid movements and interactions, but after a year of working with Ascension MMA my Self Defense class blossomed! It is truly an emotional experience to see young women gain that confidence to handle themselves. From walking with a shrugged, slouched appearance to being fierce and walking with their head held high. The gym was so patient in helping these girls with ever move, repeating and building upon skills. The gym recorded moves to send to them so they could continue to practice no matter if they were coming or not, that is what I call a business that is truly passionate about what they do.I’m so thankful to be apart of their family there! I adore Freddie and his wife Maggie. Such amazing people. I couldn’t recommend them enough!

Best decision we ever made for our family. Great way to get a good workout for the whole family. Our kids are in the kids classes and are learning from true professionals that not only are teaching them martial arts but life lessons all while being amazing role models. Kids program is awesome! My 8yrs old son has been training there for more than two years. Freddy Assuncao and staff do an absolutely fantastic job with the kids. We go to competitions often and my son has placed in each event.

Truly has one of the best kids Jujitsu/MMA program around. Coach Freddy and his team has created an amazing program at this place and has raised the bar to new levels I believe. His program includes both Jujitsu/MMA, great schedule and availability at a competitive price. He really pushes the kids with great discipline and determination, he doesn’t have the kids just focus on belts and stripes, they really need to earn it. You know you’re getting the best training when all the coaches are active fighters in the MMA world.

My 13 year old son started taking classes with the adults about a month ago. What really impressed me was the sense that everyone was a team. People of all abilities were friendly and encouraging and immediately made my son feel welcome. Instructors are very knowledgeable and my son looks forward to every class.

This is a great atmosphere. Coach Freddy does an excellent job of keeping us motivated and is extremely knowledgeable in the world of martial arts. Ascension MMA has top level coaches that treat you like family. They go out of their way to make every student feel confident and comfortable regardless of age, gender or skill level. With no change in my diet I have lost 50lbs and have become significantly healthier since joining. After I had been training there a few months I had my wife try a kickboxing class. She was extremely hesitant to go and had no intention of continuing after that one trial class. Upon arrival at her first class she instantly felt welcome and accepted by all coaches and students. My wife instantly signed up and hasn’t missed a class since.

Before joining Ascension I visited a few mma/BJJ gyms in the area and none of them gave me the same feel as Ascension. The training available here is extremely high level and the coaches make you feel at home. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, they welcome you to the team and will help you reach your goals. I was in the Atlanta metro area while on leave and looking for a school to train at. I looked at a few schools in the area, and I was kind of shocked at how the websites and advertisements of schools in Atlanta seemed deceptive over what you get when you train there. I read the reviews on Ascension MMA and checked it out. Freddy welcomed me and let me try a class. You could not find a better school to train at in the Alpharetta/Atlanta metro area.They have a great straight forward curriculum for BJJ that makes it easy to know where you are at and where you need to be. The instructors are all well versed in the curriculum and they are phenomenal instructors.The instructors always explained everything in terms anybody could understand. At the end of each lesson, I had a grasp of what was taught and understood the concepts. Each lesson flowed into the next lesson. The students were a reflection of the gym, and although each had a different goal (self defense, weight loss, become a fighter), everybody was friendly and made sure each other learned the curriculum.I hope to be training there whenever I am back in the Atlanta metro area

I get a great workout every session, the instructors are highly skilled and very knowledgeable, the gym is family friendly and you dont have an overly aggressive atmosphere like in other MMA/BJJ gyms. Great group of students who are willing to help no matter your skill level is a big plus.
