A great school, where teachers and classmates are always willing to help everyone to succeed. It also has a great environment to learn more about God and how to act as Christians in our society. With that, this school made an amazing impact on life on believing even more that God is raising up a generation for a new revival in America.

Three of my daughters attended Smith Prep for high school under Headmaster, Michael Phillips. They received an excellent education. They read classical literature, were taught valuable writing skills, and were challenged and encouraged. When they started their college educations, they were prepared for the rigorous course work. Due to the foundation that Smith Prep laid, each of my daughters excelled in their college classes. If you are looking for a Classical Christian education, Smith Prep is an outstanding choice!

I cannot say enough about this school. If you are homeschooling and want a little help this is the place. This is a private school that offers classes, trips, events and graduation. When my son was in 6th grade he was attending two schools for classes to help me with homeschooling. I asked him to choose one and he chose Smith Prep. The experiences he had at this school have been life changing. He was involved in volunteering and leadership in his school, not to mention the community that is among the students and teachers. The teachers and administration are amazing here. They really care about teaching the students and helping them learn and think for themselves. My son graduated two years ago and is now an honors student in college. He loves to learn and read. If you are looking for a school for your child this is it. Small classes are a plus and the extra activities are awesome! Please look no further. Call Smith Prep Academy now.

Smith Prep has a deep dedication to the establishment of virtue in the students that attend the School, and a strong commitment to community. Michael Phillips and the other faculty members provide a fantastic Christian Classical education through a selfless love and commitment to their students. I personally have benefited from the best education that anyone could ask for, and would heartily recommend the school to anyone who is looking into a Classical Christian education.

We have done it all when it comes to education with our children. We had them in public school, Christian schools, and homeschooled them. This is our first year attending Smith Prep, and it has been incredible. They attend classes twice a week and have the rest of it to complete work at their own pace. This is nice because it gives us a little more freedom to do other things. Both of our children are in 8th grade, and we have seen them flourish academically and spiritually. One of our favorite things about this school is that it is teaching them how to think with a biblical worldview. We love the teachers and community provided here. We hope to see our children graduate from Smith Prep. We could not be happier here.

Excellent Christ-centered program, extremely pleased with the education my oldest child received and the education my youngest child is currently receiving. The teachers are very dedicated to see your children learn. Love that we get to partner with the school to have a private school program combined with homeschooling days.

6 years ago we sent our eldest child to Smith Prep and now all four of our children are attending. Each child is flourihing and I feel this is because the teachers are so intentional and dedicated and the curriculum is truly helping them think critically and understand the world and how to discern what is true and good, and beautiful. They have felt safe, valued and challenged to learn, serve others and glorify God! We have been so pleased and grateful to be a part of this school!

My wife’s review covered most of the primary benefits of a Smith Prep education. But I thought of a couple things you might want to know if interested in the School. One is every other year the students have an opportunity to travel overseas, one year my wife and daughter went to Italy(Rome, Florence, Sorrento, and Pompeii) and last year she took our two older kids to France, Germany and Switzerland with the headmaster, Michael Phillips, as the prime tour guide. The school also has a “house system” which groups kids of multiple age groups together to support each other and compete in various competitions throughout the year, this promotes team work and fellowship. For the adventurous students Smith offers a high adventure leadership camp in North Carolina. Any review would be lacking if it didn’t mention the excellent instruction of Michael Sacasas the Dean of Academics and Literature professor. I’m highly impressed with this professor’s approach to writing and education. He recognizes the impact technology is having on the attention spans of our kids(and us) and works hard to instill the value of traditional forms of learning to combat it. I’m so impressed that my kids are happily memorizing poetry, scripture and reading the classics.

I’ll start with Smith’s philosophy. Smith Prep recognizes that the goal of education should not be merely creating good problem solvers and productive workers. (Though, those will certainly be byproducts of a good education.) Education is about human formation. Smith Prep aims to produce “virtuous scholars,” meaning those who have a breadth and depth of understanding of history, philosophy, the sciences, mathematics, language, literature, the arts, theology, and the Bible; those who think critically and logically, and can communicate those thoughts clearly and persuasively in speech and writing; those who acknowledge the reality of God, of right and wrong, of truth, and even beauty, and who seek to conform themselves to these realities rather than conform the world to themselves. Virtuous scholars seek the glory of God and the good of others, not only economic prosperity. This may all sound very high-minded. But the fact is that our children will be educated according to someone’s educational philosophy and someone’s idea of morality (whether these are explicitly stated or not). The only question is, whose will it be? Education never is and never can be be worldview-neutral.Now I’ll get a little more practical. My wife and I believe in the classical approach. There are other Christian classical education options in this area, but Smith is unique in what it offers. Five-day-a-week private school is out of the question for us financially. There are also many very affordable Christian classical homeschool co-op groups around, but much or all of the burden of teaching, curriculum selection, and lesson plan development falls on the parents. And the class time with other students is limited to one optional day a week, at which the parents must be present. There are many families perfectly happy with these co-op groups, and I’m glad they exist. But we were looking for certain things which only Smith offers: teachers to partner with, more traditional classroom time for our kids’ social development (Smith’s hybrid structure is two full days a week at school, three at home), a full curriculum that we don’t have to supplement, and a much lower price than five-day-a-week private school. Smith satisfies all these for us.One other significant advantage with Smith: it will push you and your student! This is a blessing that will sometimes feel like a curse to both parent and student! It is worth it, though. As much as I believe in homeschool, I think my wife and I would be tempted to slack off a bit if we were going it alone or with a co-op. Smith Prep provides the accountability we need to set high expectations for our daughters. We thank God for Smith Prep!

The quality of the instruction and curriculum did not meet our needs and expectations to prepare our children for college.
