Terrible!! His martial arts skills are pedestrian at best. The overwhelming factor here is Jim’s personality or lack of to be more accurate. He has the witts of a 10-year-old and has a hard time associating with people. Can’t really get his point across in a conducive manner which is very tough when you’re trying to learn something from him. He is verbally abusive to new students and has no patience. You would be better off learning from a YouTube video There are many other places around to choose from. I would steer clear

I started karate at 5 years old and it changed me, and my family’s, lives. I’m 38 now and I still remember the fun times and lessons learned at Jim Grady’s Family Martial Arts. The thing you may think of, when thinking about taking karate is the physical aspect. The conditioning received from working and training with Jim was unbelievable. I grew up to play just about every sport there is and I attribute all of my coordination and success to what I learned early on here. Also, as active as I am, I have never even broken a bone in my body. I honestly believe it’s because from karate, anytime I land awkwardly or because of my flexibility that has stayed with me, I just always roll off the right way, unharmed. The discipline, obedience, focus, patience, and kindness that is taught, whether through lessons, or personal anecdotes from Jim’s life is one of the most valuable things I took away. Jim Grady finds ways to pump up and build confidence in even the quietest of little kids, and makes sure they understand that these skills he is teaching is meant to help and protect themselves and others, not cause harm.He is really amazing at building a culture. Whether through tournaments and sparring competitions to ninja movie sleepovers and holiday parties to get all the kids and families together. Even after my busy life picked up, over a decade after beginning at his studio, I still went back for advice and to check in and see if I could find time to fit this key part of my life back in it, because Jim just left such a positive influence on my life and my family’s. I began with karate, then when life got too hectic for me and I didn’t have time to fully commit to karate, but wanted something, Jim also trained me in grappling and Brazilian Jui Jitsu. He is well versed in many martial arts.Even my younger brother, who when growing up had some nervous tendencies and trouble connecting with some people, Jim found ways to bring him out of his shell and push him to his potential in a welcoming, nurturing way that listed his confidence in ways we didn’t know was possible. There is no one facing personal or emotional challenges that Jim would not be patient enough to coax out the inner potential and help them build confidence and relationships where before they may have had anxiety.Someday when my better half and I settle down and have kids, the very first sport/activity I will get them involved in is karate and martial arts, simply because of the amazing experience I had at Jim Grady’s Family Martial Arts. I really don’t think there is a higher praise than saying, without certainty, that I want this for my kids someday, because it was so amazing for me.I highly suggest you open up your life to what Jim Grady’s Family Martial Arts can offer it.

Great instructor! He helped me develop self-confidence which is a powerful thing. He taught me so much and helped me grow to become a strong martial artist and more importantly a better person. I have become an instructor of martial arts because of him. Jim has extensive experience, knowledge and skill. He provides a safe, structured, learning environment for children. I highly recommend him.
