Coba Academy is amazing! I recently went for a haircut and I have zero complaints about the cleanliness, covid safety, customer service, or the haircut itself (which was hands down the best haircut Ive had).The lady at the front desk, the teachers, and the students were very friendly. They made sure I was comfortable and answered all the questions I had. Their explanations made me feel confident about their abilities and they definitely did not disappoint!

Beware . Former student from this school I can personally tell you it’s a waste of money I have learned nothing from the 6 months I spent there, this school is run like a high school very unprofessional with favoritism and gossip thriving from within and good luck trying to get ahold of staff unless they need you to approve increments of money for them. Take it from me I saw the countless reviews that the school makes you make for a grade this school is a joke. Better off at Anywhere else at least you’ll get your money’s worth.

I am extremely disappointed in the product I received from the staff. I made it very clear what color I wanted my hair. The instructor had me point to it on their chart. It was a golden brown, yet the color came out dark brown. It will now take me months to grow this out to go back to the color I desire. I asked for color and a trim, but after 2½ hours, and no trim, they said I was done. I commented, so the instructor spent 2 minutes on the neck, then I just wanted to get out of there.The students had zero experience, shot water in my ear when washing my hair, and the sinks are killer on your neck. The prices have also gone up quite a bit. This used to be my favorite place, but perhaps Covid has changed it all too much. Dont waste your money going here. I am heartbroken about my experience. I wanted to cry when I left, but didnt want to make a scene. I have never posted a review like this before.$38 for ruined hair and lost time, etc.

The staff is awesome! They made me feel so comfortable about the decision to start school again! It’s nice to talk to people who are passionate about the programs they have to offer! It wasn’t just a sales pitch.They actually tell you what to expect with your classes and board exams. I heard great things about the teachers from another friend and I’m excited to start this new adventure! If you’re still trying to figure out where to go, no need to look any further!

Coba Academy is phenomenal.The instructors give the students the best practical experience.They teach the students to openly communicate with their clients, and to treat them with respect and kindness.I have gotten several haircuts at the Coba; sometimes I decide to get a totally different style. Each time I’ve walked out of there on top of the world.Instructor Mindy is the most talented person I’ve ever known. She’s very unselfish with her teaching, and the students (and I) just love her.I tell everyone who’s looking for a cut, color, or makeup about Coba. I’ve never had a bad experience there.If I could give them 6 stars, I would.They are amazing!!!!

Working at Coba has allowed me to continue to grow in my industry as a hairstylist as well as give back to our new generation. The resources that are given to me as an instructor have been a great tool in both my theoretical and practical knowledge, due to the continues education provided by Coba. During this pandemic we went virtual. Having the opportunity to deliver theory with such an innovative program we utilize called Mindtap by Milady has been perfect for us during this time of such great need. My experience at academy has been one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. the staff is so professional and so easy to talk to as well as the teachers they are hands-down the most hands on and professional teachers. They are willing to go above and beyond to make sure that you understand what you were doing.The one thing that I love the most about the school is that when you start you feel like a stranger go by the middle of your school year you feel like family and you do not want to graduate because you do not want to leave such great and awesome people

I got my hair cut and lightened by Lauren Willis and I could not be happier with the way it turned out. She did such an amazing job - it was identical to the pictures we had looked at online. I have never dyed my hair before and she is the only one I would trust with my virgin hair! Thank you, Lauren for such an amazing first experience. You are so incredibly thorough and talented.

Due to COVID I lost my job, and it made me think about my life and wanting to do something I wanted to do. I dug deep in and found I really like working with the public and enjoy doing my friends and friends hair. What better way to put both together and make a profession out of it. I went to Coba Academy for the Esthetics Program and I really enjoyed my teacher, the education and all the hands on i received. Once I got my license I knew I wanted to teach some day. Couple of years later I now work at Coba Academy as an Esthetics Instructor. I am very greatful they gave me this opportunity to do what I love and believe in. I really enjoy working here, the staff and teachers are all wonderful and very helpful. Helping the students achieve their Dreams is so rewarding to me.

It’s been long over due and I finally decided to begin my education and my career as an esthetician and honestly they stay at COBA have always been very welcoming and provided me with the information I needed to continue my journey. I have visited the school pre COVID and the school was always clean and up to standard. I don’t doubt the proper measures will be taken once it is time for students to return to campus. I could have chosen any other school but I am glad I chose this one. I look forward to the bright future that is to come.

I love that place there are always so professional and friendly. I really enjoyed the quality and the time that they put into you my hair .My hair last a very long time without being retouched every time I have Miss Mindy and her students work on me. I appreciate the quality and ethics that they display .I enjoy watching her teach her students while she works on me shes very thorough and professional they display qualities that not a lot of Salon or School display. Kudos for Mindy and her studentsI recommend her anytime.Oh and the prices are extremely low for the quality of work they do!

Best professional cut and color treated here!

This school deserves zero stars matter fact it should be shut down. The school is ran very poorly I attended Coba late last year and the day instructor Francine put a chemical peel on my face causing 1-2 degree burns all over my face which resulted in severe hyperpigmentation. The school took no responsibility instead they changed my graduation date which was all over the place and tried to charge me money that I did not owe. After getting the state involved it was determined that I did not owe anything. No reparations have been made to get my face back in its original state. Since I was there for 5 short months I had 3 different teachers, it seems they cannot keep staff. I’ve seen the cosmos teachers come and go total of two. I have also seen 2 Barber teachers quit. The school lacks proper leadership as Alan is not it. The admissions coordinator Ms Amy left while I was there in that same shirt five months. A pregnant student fell out of a spa chair because the chairs and all the equipment is old and outdated. Overall I don’t know why BBC has not come for these people’s license it’s crazy how they scathe by. Not to mention they barely had supplies for us to use on clients we had to by our own from the store next door. No way shape or form is this slander these are actual events that took place on their campus. I would proceed with caution..

Dont bother making an appointment because theyll just figure out every excuse in the book as to why they cant take your 3rd scheduled appointment. Lack of teachers or lack of students or no one to manage the front desk. The excuses were endless. Oh, dont bother trying to call to ensure your scheduled appointment is still good.... 30 mins after opening, no can answer a phone. The instructors are rude. Ugh! It sucks when you cant afford the $100 for a real stylist... I guess the price reflects the service.

Very very extremely disappointed, was going here for awhile for root touch up and highlights, I was very specific and clear that I wanted the SAME color. Instructor did NOT follow the previous color and made my roots half a shade lighter along with not doing the roots prior to the highlights leaving my roots clashing and NOT blending in with the highlights of my hair. Also witnessed instructor teach the students what less than mediocrity is in customer service, with being able to do a decent job.

People, I see a lot of unsastisfactory reviews with some of you having unrealistic expectations. Remember this is a SCHOOL FOR LEARNING. If you want a professional hair job, dont seek services at a learning institution DUH!

Called ahead of time to see if I needed an appointment, and was informed that the students take lunch between 12-12:45, so anytime before or after would be fine (meaning no appointment necessary). I arrived within 10 minutes of my phone call, and waited at the reception desk for at least 5 minutes before someone acknowledged me. There were plenty students on the floor, however not even a Welcome, or Hello (reason I cannot give 5 stars). Once the ball got rolling, everything else fell into place. Brenda gave me a trim, and she did a very good job! I am super pleased with the instructor who assisted as well.Upon checkout, I met a super cool customer as well as another student Erika who made the whole trip to the Beauty School WORTH IT . Erika, you are truly the best...keep shining that bright light! I will be back again, next time Ill bring a friend.Thank you so so much for your services today.

I am very impressed with the students at this school! I have had my hair curled twice and my full face make up and lashes, They are skilled, friendly and do great work!

I just want to take a moment and give a big shout out to Ms. Paula, the student who patiently helped me for seemingly hours yesterday. She did my hair and took care of my feet. Most of all, Paula showed kindess and cared. Her gentle manners and her great attention to detail with working with the hair will take her far. I plan to return as they have quite a few things they offer at this place. I hope your experience with this place ends up being as good as mine. They kept it very clean. This was my first time there. When I got their it looked like a group of students were learning the dos and donts about hair products and chemicals. A teacher had a white board and kept asking them questions. Paula got called upon to help me. I am so pleased. Thanks again Paula! You really made my day.

This school does not even deserve a star!!!! I am so upset the director Alan is running the wrong business...I just found out about how bad he can be and he refuses to see more than one student at the time who want to complain about school discrepancies. What does that tell you? Guilty !!! Dont sign up for this school...avoid it and find yourself a decent school that is runned by real people not fake!

I went for just a walk-in. And I was suppose to wait an hour since they didn’t have the people who can do that, which was okay because I just came in. BUT once an hour past I went back inside and waited another hour.
