Flexibility! We started WCA in 2018 and love it! We love the flexibility that CA offers - work ahead on school lessons, work early in the morning or late in the evening, if you have a week day commitment and you want to work on lessons over the weekend - you can. (Note - Student can get behind on lessons up to two weeks.)Courses are nicely structured on the students planner each school day. Parents/Care Giver (Learning Coaches) work through lessons with their child (younger grades) while as children increase grade levels, they can work through lessons independently.(Our family has personally chosen to work through lessons with our children through Elementary level... While some families may feel comfortable with their Elementary student working more independently.)Once the student completes a lesson - they can mark it complete. ✅ I personally like the organized daily course check list.ONE (LL) live lesson (virtual class with Teacher) is required per week.WCA offers 3-4 options per grade level (speaking for Elementary) throughout the week that include morning and afternoon hours. Student can attend all LL, but only are required one.WCA Teachers are a fantastic resource and support. Students will meet in LL one-on-one with the assigned Teacher approximately once per month or once every 3 weeks. Teachers/staff are a phone call or email away.WCA is a state wide - virtual charter public school... Free...You will have access/option to have a school provided laptop.CA will send you a box of all the needed curriculum. Text books will need to be returned at the end of the school year. CA provides shipping labels for returning items - no cost to families. This was important to our family, we pay taxes for our local school district and hubby didnt want to pay additional monies for curriculum, etc... We dont pay anything for our children to attend WCA.We love WCA! There are many school options out there, I hope you find a school thats best for your individual families!

Be very careful! While Connections Academy can be fantastic, my children have attended CA in 3 different states, WCA is full of misinformation and does not have much if any student activities unless you live in Appleton. They will not tell you that your student will not receive credit for classes taken a year ahead of schedule. I thought part of the purpose of the online school was for students to receive an education to fit their level of learning?

Excellent school, just wish WI would offer more foreign language classes. Currently they only offer Spanish.

Connections Academy is an excellent school its distraction free, and some people say that they dont allow you to go a year ahead but you want to go at your pace. You cant do two years of school in one year most schools wont let you do it. Plus its not sufficient for your education to do two years at once thats just too much.

LOVE WCA!! I was so nervous to home school but WCA made the process so easy for us. My daughter loved it and we were with the program for 3 years. I felt that it was easy to navigate on their website daily. Teachers had good communication and were available when we needed them. My daughter liked the online interaction with the teacher and other students. WCA did have different events throughout the year, that you could get involved in, many being in Appleton, but there were others closer. I found it nice to get to know others within the WCA family so we could plan get togethers or field trips of our own, you just have to reach out. I would highly recommend WCA! We LOVED our teachers!!
