I go here and i feel the same way how many others feel. I always feel so happy and great after going to my lessons. I love it and i cant wait to get better and better. Its a wonderful place and i love it.

Several years ago in my mid 40s, wanting to start something new, I was looking for a jazz piano lesson, but somehow ended up joining U.S. Matsumoto Shidokan Karate instead. All my family and friends were stunned because I was the least likely person to do exercise or play sports, let alone martial arts. I did not know (and still do not know) what made me change my mind. That irrational decision I made, however, has turned out the best thing I’ve ever done to myself.Training is so intense at our “dojo,” which means a martial art school in Japanese, I always try to find an excuse not to attend the class up until making the last turn into the parking lot there. One hour later after the class, I feel great, invigorated mentally and physically. The positive effect on my mind and body is just unbelievable!Now in my mid 50s, I would like to use my precious time on learning from and getting inspired by something/someone top-notch and essential as much as possible. Shihan (Master) Matsumoto is a first-rate karate master who not only teaches us martial art techniques (of course, his focus in the class is improving each student’s technique and he knows exactly how) but also inspires us to be a better person without saying too much. Shihan Matsumoto, his wife Sensei (Instructor) Etsuko, a great teacher herself who encourages us to be positive all the time, and my fellow students at Matsumoto Shidokan are the people dear to my heart besides my family.Since the beginning of this COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. Matsumoto Shidokan Karate has been providing on-line classes to its students. I really appreciate that and hope to go back to the dojo as soon as the virus is no longer a serious risk. I promise I won’t try to find an excuse not to go anymore!

Shihan Matsumoto and Sensei Etsuko emphasize family and family values at their dojo. Karate is less about learning how to fight, rather its about self discipline, hard work and showing respect to others. Its a sport that transcends its martial roots. My son and I started together when he was 6 years old and earned his black belt at 14. I passed my black belt test at 53. Our family will be forever grateful for the love and support we received from Shihan Matsumoto and Sensei Etsuko for over 15 years!

Friendly family oriented Dojo!

Great place for training. Everyone is very friendly and I learn a lot when I actually have time to go to class! Would definitely recommend - be prepared to work HARD.

Very intense workout combined with competitive students in a great environment. You will get in shape! Training is very good and instructor is a world champion fighter. There is no better place to learn from then Matsumoto

My son has been training here for over 3 years. Training at the Matsumotos Dojo has significantly benefited my sons confidence, fitness, focus, and athletic ability. The traditional style of training found at this Dojo will improve the mind body connection, mental (toughness) and physical (strength, cardio, flexibility, and coordination) conditioning. Probably the best program for kids around.
