All my childhood memories came from this great school, Sherrod Elementary School. The faculty is outstanding and the school is well-kept and comfortable. Although the students are not as well behaved as ten years ago, dont forget that the teaching is what matters most, and Sherrods staff gets it done!

This School has by far given me the worst experience of my life. First day of enrollment was much unorganized and poorly planned. That should have been the red flag for me before witnessing and experiencing the worst feeling a parent could ever feel. On the day of school as well as enrollment, I made it very clear to the teacher that my children where to stay at school for the after school program YMCA. I get a phone call from the YMCA saying that my children were not in care. I called the school to get validation, sadly there was none. I had to leave work from Irving and rush to the school in Arlington to find out that my kids were missing and NO ONE knew where they were. It took the school an hour to find my children along with other missing kids as well. Now I receive a phone call from the school now saying the lost a copy of my children’s shot records. HOW IS A SCHOOL THIS UNORGINIZED? The only reason I will not remove my children from this school is because I see progress in my children. We are a military family and constantly moving around and switching schools. I don’t want to remove my children because simple adults lack the responsibility to do their job. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANY PARENT.

I think principal Matt Vanell is doing a very good job of making the parents a part of the education experience. I really enjoyed seeing his hands on approach when he whipped out his trumpet and joined the band at a school function. He is always in a good mood, and quick to ask if the parent needs anything. I feel confident leaving my prize possession, my little girl under his care on school days.

I used to go to that school from 1st to 5th grade, and Im going to the 11th grade. Lets just say I did not have a good experience at that school. There are so many things that are bad at the school I can write a whole book about it, but Im just going to keep it short. If you want your child to go to a school that actually cares for your childs education, DO NOT COME TO THIS SCHOOL! No wonder that school has three stars😒

My son has gone to this school for 2 yrs now so I can probably get away with writing my dislikes for this school...First let me start by saying that I go to visit my son everyday for school during his lunch time...Im constantly asking my son about his day, teacher, classmates etc...As far as his teacher goes Mrs. Johnson 1st grade is great...my son never ever complains about her...except once which her and I talked about and worked it out...so she has the green light...way to go Mrs. Johnson 1st grade...Now as far as what I see in the cafeteria and the lunch ladies I already pointed it out to the vice principles Mrs. Waits and she fixed that as well...Thank u Mrs. Waites...But my biggest issue is the fact that I see all these teachers just yelling and screaming at our kids for little things...like getting up to go to the restroom, or getting up to get some silverware...After they have already yelled at your kids out loud in front of everybody where everybody knows everybodys business then they want the kids to explain why they did what they did... as soon as the kids start talking, the teachers interrupt them and keeps yelling at them some more...not only r u embarrassing the student, but ur also bring down their self esteem...ur a teacher teach them the way!!!...Just cause its not part of the curriculum doesnt mean u cant teach them how to carry themselves properly...your not law enforcement so stop acting like it...like let the kids stand up for themselves...let them feel like they got their lives under control...stop showing disrespect and instead show respect to one another...and then turn around and expect the kids to respect you...pft!!!... like practice what you preach!!!... you cant expect these kids to act right if you cant act right in front of these kids... just cuz your a grown up does not make it okay for u to scream at other peoples children... and I see this happening every single day!!!...shame on these teachers that think that yelling at our children is ok shame on them!!!...Sherrod Elementary get it together...

The front office ladies are always so Rude. I have complained and tried to be kind but there is no reason to treat parents this way. It is a shame.
