Our son moved here from a rural school in Oklahoma, we were worried about him making the transition. He is in the 6th grade, I only wish he had the opportunity to go here for his entire elementary school. We were impressed by the school and staff, I feel that the teachers could use a bit more assistance by getting the class sizes down to 17-20 students or have a dedicated student aid ( paid intern) to be there full time. School has changed over the years, I am happy to see the policies and procedures the school upholds. Thanks you for the great school year

My daughter is in 2nd grade this year and went to 1st grade last year at Viridian. We love this school. The teachers are encouraging and motivated my daughter to rise to higher level. Her 1st grade teacher was amazing. The staff is always friend and caring. My daughter also takes violin at this school and the Suzuki teacher is great. I am proud of my school.

I love everything about this school except the vice principal. She is one of the most rudest, disrespectful, hateful person I have met. She fails to realize she is in a elementary school and not a prison guard. My son has even made the statement that he doesnt think she even knows how to talk with out being mean. The school would be so much better without her horrible attitude, and needs to get off her power trip. As long as you dont have to deal with her, you will love this school and the great teachers and other staff they have.

My oldest child has attended Viridian since the first year it was open. My youngest will begin her third year there. We have had positive experiences with the faculty and administrative staff. My daughters have had teachers who have gone above and beyond to help them academically. Any time Ive had a question or concern, the administrative staff has been very workable and helpful. I realize everyone has different experiences and perceptions with any school. As far as my familys experience, we couldnt be happier.

I was initially completely stoked about sending my child to this school. Our area was rezoned and this was our assigned elementary school. My son attended Primrose during his Pre-K years and completely loved his school and enjoyed going daily. Since beginning kindergarten our mornings are filled with tears and its very frustrating. I mean after several months here he still doesnt like it. They treat Kindergartners like little soldiers and all students are expected to fit into a box. They are more focused on testing and scores than anything else. I visited my son during lunch and his teacher spent the entire lunch screaming and telling kids to be quite. In addition to all this what ever happened to making learning enjoyable, being creative, creating an environment where children enjoy school. I find his teacher simply prints lots of worksheets and during a visit to his class the kids appear afraid to even flinch. Inconsistent communication from teacher, lack of activities (they didnt even have a Christmas program), and an unhappy kindergartner are the reasons why my son will not be returning next year.

Well, I find the people who have negative things to say just dont really know what school is like. They must be stuck in the years they went to school because school has definitely changed as well as parent responsibilities. I find the school way above average, the teachers really want the kids to succeed, and the environment above normal. Maybe those complaining should go and teach to see how wonderful this school is. If you dont like it, then leave and find a place you are comfortable with. As for me, I want my child to be ready for the real world and I know the teachers there are wonderful. I know this because I have been in their shoes and I know what it takes to help kids learn (and it is not all cute, games, and fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Encourage your child to do their best and they will go far - NO MATTER WHO TEACHES THEM, after all, you were their first teacher!

Absolutely the worst experience. My grandchildren were rezoned as the previous writer wrote and it was a complete nightmare. Many families from my company are relocating to the HEB area and I now will never recommend this district! South Euless was an awesome experience but Viridian has ruined it forever. My 1st Grade Grandson has been traumatized and vilified! Hes a first Grader and A honor role student for crying out loud! Miserable fail Viridian and shame on you. I echo everything that Leah stated about the treatment of the children there! Maybe itll take more reviews to convince others of the ugly truths of this school. Disgusting just disgusting! Im not the kind of parent that stands with my child just because either but even working with the school no one there in my opinion did their jobs effectively!

We have 3 children that attend Viridian Elementary, they are all in the Suzuki Strings program and 2 of 3 eligible for World Languages (Arabic, Hindi & Mandarin). Viridian is one of only a handful of public / charter schools nationwide that offer this program. HEB ISD is recognized as the #1 ISD in Texas. We love our teachers and staff. We are thankful for all this school, teachers, staff and parent community has given our family.

As if I havent had to put up with enough when it comes to Viridian Elementary. Well now I am having to deal with aggressive and threatening staff. Ive heard multiple parents complain about Dee whom is the principals assistant. I have never liked her attitude personally, she has always been rude, tries to be condescending and gives parents that she doesnt like that stank face. But hey I know how to deal with people whom personalities I cant handle I simply IGNORE them. Well this morning she decided to give chase after I intentionally ignored her and follow me out of the office and the front door of the school in a very threatening manner. Shouldnt you be somewhere shuffling papers and answering the phones Dee!! I was even contacted by a parent after leaving the school to ask if I was ok. I called and left a message for the principal after leaving this morning to let her know personally that I felt threatened, but I doubt anything will be done about it. Soon I will contact the school district to see if there is a way to go about making a formal complaint. This wasnt my first run in with her, hopefully one day she fixes that awful attitude of hers!!!

My son is about to start his second year here. I am very happy about our decision to move here. HEBISD is in the Top 25 school districts in TX. My son was in kinder in Rockwall last year, and he had to repeat kinder here. He learned more in the first months here, than he did in all of last year. His teacher was determined to teach him to read past the minimum required in order to move on to first grade, and she did! She was great in keeping me in the loop on his progress along the way. Her teaching style was old school, but it worked for my son.

My son began attending Viridian in Kindergarten last year. We had an absolutely wonderful experience with the school, his teacher, Mrs. Howard, and the PTA. I am disappointed to see that others did not experience this same level of satisfaction, but I will say that being involved in my childs education and volunteering with the PTA helped me feel connected and engaged with the teachers and other parents in our community. My kiddo comes home every day ready to tell us about something he has learned and a classmate he has gotten to know, and that is testament to the positive experiences he is having on an individual level. Viridian provides a consistent, positive environment where my child is encouraged to learn and think, and I could not be more pleased with the level of communication and care that we get from our school and staff.

The principle and her staff are dishonest people. They have bad intentions and have made false reports in order to receive my federal dollars for the school! I would not recommend anyone to place their child in Viridian elementary unless they want to worry if the things that they are being told are true. Not to mention this is the second time the school has had a dishonest principle in leadership. The last one was a child molester.

If your child is not popular, it will be rough for them to go here. Lots of bullying (by students AND staff). I feel like my childs self esteem has plummeted and suffered due to the way some kids are treated here. Just beware and listen to your kids.

MY SON LOVES THIS SCHOOL! We moved here from a nice area of San Antonio within a top school district so I was afraid I wouldnt find a decent school here in DFW. We first lived in Grand Prairie and the school was okay but my son hated it and got bullied. Then we moved to HEB district and my son is thriving at Viridian! My husband and I have gone to eat lunch with him many times and I have to say the kids are pretty great. His 2nd grade teacher Ms. Shaw is very nice and loves my son in her class. I dont know what issues other parents have had, but I can tell you NO SCHOOL is perfect. If anything, the only issues Ive had at Viridian are other parents who are rude & inconsiderate of others when dropping/picking up their kids. Very inappropriate.
