The worst 4 years of my life. Do yourself a favor and attend literally any other school or change majors. Most students are afraid to speak up due to retaliation from the administration. When prospective students come to the school we are warned not to speak negatively about the school. The president is a narcissist and the administration are generally abusive and inconsiderate towards students in general. They are even more so with students who have disabilities. I had to hire lawyers in order to get my full ADA accommodations. They claim to have teachers/professors that have studied with Jeffrey Yuen and have years of experience. During my time there they either fired or the professors left due to the abusive environment and now it’s mostly recent daoist traditions graduates teaching. They are very unorganized. Class times, dates, tests, assignments & test content, can be changed last minute. They are very cheap in general as far as hiring the faculty, providing online and other supportive learning services. The school is more profit-based then anything else. They have orientations every semester and if you miss it it’s $250, you missed the test it’s $250, you missed clinic and you have to make it up it’s $250 Ect. They generally treat you like children. If you miss more than two days you fail the class. This is not my first time in graduate school. Graduate school is hard all by itself. The toxic environment the school creates makes it almost impossible.

The free Herbal Consultation was the most in-depth medical consultation Ive ever had. I had a remote session with Patricia, a Masters degree graduate student with several years of practice in acupuncture and eastern medicine, along with a panel of remote students who were learning and assisting Patricia and the instructor with developing a personalized herbal formulation for my specific issues as determined during the consultation. All in attendance were highly professional and very knowledgeable with Eastern medicine practices and holistic healthcare. The college and clinic are a true hidden gem in Asheville, and one of the premiere Eastern medicine colleges on the east coast. I *highly* recommend calling them to schedule an appt for both/either a herbal and/or acupuncture session.

A rigorous, in-depth program that pushed me above and beyond. I left Daoist Traditions with an incredible body of knowledge, prepared and eager to put it into practice.

Fantastic !!!! Herbal Program for those coming to just do herbs. High Quality teachers - very patient and they really care. Administration is on it, very consistent and sharp administration staff. Really enjoyed the program. All of the teachers ad admin I worked with in the Herbal program really really care about us and whether we learned or not. They were always there for you.Teachers all very helpful in the herbal program. I didnt find the work too hard. Abit time consuming. As long as they keep Ann teaching the main herb section (she really cares about her students and that they understand things), I think everyone will continue to be happy with the external herb program. Ann is a great teacher and person. She is very laid back and understands that everyone needs a different approach. I Loved Peter Sheas, he is so insightful and deep, he seems to be the deep philosophical shaman of the group. Lisa for food therapy and essential oils was wonderful. Shes a very understanding and good heart. Such a loving human being. Josh did a great job with his teaching herbal preparation class also. The western medicine teachers were good, though we werent as interested in those classes, because we were there to learn herbs !. The other classes and teachers were one day things, and it was nice to get a taste of other teaching styles, and other approaches and philosophies towards herbs. They were all really nice to me. Robert who ran the program was wonderful. There was a review class and a couple more online that was a little disorganized and too much busy work, but it was decent and that was that teachers first run of developing the class. Things were minority disorganized with the program but not too bad, and we have to realize this was their first run of their external program. They constantly asked for feedback and asked us how they can make the program even better, consistently through the program. Anything we asked for, they responded to and fixed. Id support people doing the herb program as long as Ann keeps teaching the main portion. The clinic was wonderful, we had four teachers rotating a day, so we got to study under four teachers approaches to building formulas with clients, so we learned four different approached to putting together formulas. That was a smart way to set things up. !!! I learned so much !!!! I had a GREAT experience with herbs ! Also everyone needs to explore their library and external workshops !!! Its also an excuse to visit Asheville !!! Being a Daoist Student and graduate I now I can use their library forever ! They are there to support you onward.I see some of the acupuncture students reviews beneath me arent that great. I have talked to many of the students of acupuncture, and overall the message has been that the program can be a bit overload with not always enough time to integrate, and some students get frustrated. . They say it can be very stressful emotionally as Chinese medicine can be a spiritual growth process also. Getting a good grip on Chinese Medicine should be a 5 or 6 year program (there are allot of western classes also to take remember), to squeeze it into 3 or 4 years can be allot on anyone. I understand the frustrations of all schools and student. It is allot to integrate, it pushes you personally, and its allot of money.I did acupuncture at another school that was laid back, but very disorganized. I am told external herb program I did at Daoist has their most loved and laid back teachers. I dont know if this is true or not, but with the teachers I had I would still tell people to go to this acupuncture school. These teachers were excellent and very kind.I learned the most from watching Jeffery Yuen videos and workshops... I bought his whole serious from AUCM. They have allot of his lectures at Daoist traditions library. I also didnt overload myself and I did the herbs, and acupuncture on separate years and took 5 years to do it all (rather than 3 or 4), while running an online business.

First of all , most of the 5 star reviews here are for either the student clinic (a separate location and name) or for Jeffrey Yuens lectures (a globally-known traveling Chinese Medicine master who visits twice a year to teach CEU courses) at another campus building owned by DT.Not many students write reviews, most people are too scared to. And I can understand, Im scared too. But it also feels imperative that people have the option to have the truth and make good decisions for their futures and their investments. My partner and I moved to North Carolina to attend this school, Daoist Traditions. On the very first day of school when we had a chance (a rare chance) to mingle with students from the other years, an upperclassman told our group dont expect this school to give you any of the daoism that you are looking for. You will need to cultivate your own daoism to put up with the BS this place puts you through. O.OWe were surprised and disappointed by the teaching method and skill levels of our professors... it was mostly a lot of reading off of powerpoints... and then being tested on the material every other day. It seemed like a throw back to antiquated teaching style that did not engage us as students at all. A couple students found class so incredibly unhelpful that they would read another book in the back during class. My partner dropped out after two months... I made it the whole semester... we are both over $18,000 in debt with nothing to show for it.As we got into our first semester, the morale of the student body became so bad that we brought it up to the administration. Their response was negative people just gotta be negative. This was not a few people, this was the majority of every class feeling bad... We thought they might be concerned and want to address something, but they just brushed it off and blamed the students. This seems to be the M.O.30% of our starting class (at least 10 out of the 30) has dropped out in the first year. This is also true for the year ahead of us. Now I understand why the school did not go to great lengths to make sure we could fit in the classrooms/had enough equipment... I guess they are banking on a bunch of students dropping out. This school is a for-profit institution. The admissions counselor is really good at her job. Maybe too good.Students are not allowed to speak honestly to prospective students when they visit. I had the direct experience of being confronted for sharing my honest personal experience with a visitor... I guess they have ways of finding out what was said and who said it even if there are no faculty around/in sight/ear shot etc. This is one of the factors that helped me decide to leave the program when I did. I also heard a story that a girl from another year was bullied out of the program after speaking up to a prospective student and being found out by the administration.Being exposed to the fourth year students is what gave me the most concern. They were beaten and resentful, exhausted and burnt out. They saw a lot of injustice, but had no fight left in them. Several 4th year students recommended to me to get out while you still can. I even talked to a practicing acupuncturist who had graduated from DT 9 years ago... her report? She is still recovering. YIKES.When I finally made the choice to leave, I got a lot of congratulations from the upperclassmen... would you say that is normal or a good sign coming from the students who will be graduating from this program??Although it is a small measure, I want to do what I can to help future students of this beautiful medicine make the best choice they can. I urge you -- talk with as many students as you can before deciding to attend Daoist Traditions.

Jeffery Yuen seminars are worth the travel time and money. He is articulate, highly intelligent and has a vase knowledge of elemental healing arts. I have been to two of his seminars years apart. Each time has been amazing amount of information. This is not your typical CEUs....I see in him the qualities of an enlightened person and teacher! Namaste

People are afraid to speak up honestly about their experience with this school. The students are being silenced. Be wary.
