I went in initially to buy dyes. The owner and staff were quick to help answer my questions, and they eagerly offered opinions about the different color pallettes I was questioning.After buying the dyes, I decided to take a class to better understand the process before doing my own projects. The staff who helped me were incredibly kind and patient. She answered all of my questions, and she didnt display any impatience or frustration when I asked several questions.The prices are more than fair for what youre buying. They dyes and other supplies are high quality. I appreciate the fact that everything is ethically sourced, too.Overall, this place is amazing. If you ever need to dye anything, please visit this shop. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

We have taken 2 classes as a family here and always have the best time. Jess is wonderful with showing us how to accomplish the dye but is also so very patient with our child (7 years old). We have done ice dye and tie dye.We plan to rerun and do batik when our child is a little older. Thank you for a great time!

This is undoubtedly one of the coolest finds in Asheville. We stumbled across the shop and were just dazzled to enter and find the most exquisite clothing items with the most beautiful hand-dyed fabric. We fell in love immediately and decided to take an ice-dyeing class. The class was terrific and gave us a great foundation in the technique to the point where we feel confident (and motivated!) to ice-dye anything at home. The owner, Jess, did the class with us, and we had so much fun. We picked up our clothing pieces the next day and were so amazed by how beautiful everything turned out. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Asheville and would encourage anyone and everyone to visit this store and studio!!!

I stumbled into Waxon while my husband was out golfing. I was looking for some artsy inspiration and had money to burn. Immediately upon entering the studio I became enthralled with the unique and creative designs and dye techniques. I was blown away and tremendously inspired. I purchased a few sale items as gifts and some ice dye for myself, which I later shared with friends at a group vacation. The group was thrilled at how easy and clean the dye process was. Ive recently purchased more dye online through the website and the owner, Jess, was responsive and helpful to my naive dye questions. Cant wait to visit again on my next trip to Asheville!

My wife and I did the batik class. It was our favorite thing that we did over our long weekend getaway. Hope, our instructor was awesome. Such a cool experience!! Will definitely come and take another class.

What an amazing experience! Sam, our instructor, was smart and friendly. The class took about 1.25 hours, but if needed we could have stayed longer. It is not inexpensive, but quality products and experiences seldom are.

Myself and 6 friends had a blast tie dying with Jess! The final products were amazing, and the instruction was individualized and easy to follow. She is detail oriented, and so much fun to work with. Pretty soon my whole wardrobe will be Wax On pieces! Can’t wait to come back for another class!

This lovely lady did a tie dye day with my high school special education class. The expertise, kindness, patience, and care she demonstrated with my special group of kiddos was incredible. She provided my students with a unique opportunity that many of them dont often (if ever) get to experience - creating a beautiful work of art with their own hands. [My friend said Jessica was excellent with her children] while explaining the science, and giving clear, precise instruction and explanation of why she is doing what she is doing. I purchased a dyed crop top from Waxon over the summer and I absolutely love it, I practically lived in it and got compliments on it wherever I went. Jess ( the owner) is an incredible artist not to mention one of the warmest kindest souls youll ever meet. Highly recommend checking it out!

Going to Waxon Batik and Dye Studio for myself made me realize just how much labor, time, and care goes into each peice that Jess creates by hand. Her designs are so unique and beautiful, she makes wearing tie-dye feel very chic. Not only is she a great designer, but she is a wonderful teacher too! She was so patient and articulate to explain to the group how to make our own dyes look professional. Jess definitely gave me an experience and skills that I can take with me to future arts and crafts sessions. Thank you, Jess!

Not a happy experience. When I saw the price for 2 children and 2 adults to make batik shirts, $320, I was shocked. Jessica is a friend of our daughter, who suggested we go to the store for the experience. She’s also been a guest in my home.I never saw the pricing, it’s on a sign off to the right side, not in plain view. I also assumed, as we are all ‘friends’, that we would receive some kind of discount or perk. Certainly, it’s good policy, especially when something’s expensive, to gain agreement with your customer that they understand the charges and agree to them. When I returned to question the charges on the appointed pick-up day, I was told my shirt wasn’t ready and would have to be mailed, which I agreed to. The only accommodation was that the store would pick up the postage. (Apparently my fault for using too much wax?) I was also chastised for protesting the cost, and referred to the price being clearly posted on Facebook (I’ve never been a member) and on the website (I’d never been there) and off to the side in the store as previously mentioned. The lecture continued that one wouldn’t return to a restaurant the next day asking for a discount, and I should have spoken up at the time. Frankly, I was shocked at the cost and didn’t want to embarrass my family by balking when we were already all finished. I’d certainly return to a restaurant if someone were to get ill, or to speak to a manager regarding an unpleasant experience, so, poor analogy at best. My wife wrote a review, and the reply says we should have spoken directly, rather than ruin the Google rating. I *did* go in person, and was rebuked. Therefore, there’s really no other option than to relate my experience here. My wife’s review is missing, only the reply is visible, some Google policy no doubt allows hiding of negative reviews. I’ve been in customer service for giant companies for years. While the customer isn’t always right, a proprietor will make some accommodation for a dissatisfied customer. Certainly not a lecture and a summary goodbye.

I love my custom T-shirt, and really appreciated Jesss willingness to experiment with my ideas on how to adapt her artwork.

If I could have left you NO stars I would have. You were indignant when my husband came in to pick up his shirt and said something about the outrageous prices for 4 & 6 year olds making their own r-shirts...$70 each! It was only an hour and a half, and you claim its a two hour class. Plus you told my husband to pick them up at 2 PM Tuesday, and his shirt wasnt even ready! This complaint could go on another ten minutes, but you are a horrible business person, with NO customer service skills, and I know it wont matter to you!

Love the store. My daughters favorite shirts are have always been from here. She has hats, dresses, and even artwork hanging in her room. We will continue supporting this great store.
