Franklin School of Innovation encourages my student by placing great value on ALL her ideas! She asked her math teacher if she could be the teacher for just a day. Next day, she did the lesson plan. My daughter loves knowing her school is going to say yes to her every chance they can! It is heightening her overall confidence and very positive view of learning! My younger son is hanging out the window at every carpool line, just eager for it to finally be his turn to try FSI!

I knew my son’s first year at the Franklin School of Innovation as a 7th grader would be a challenge. However, he has matured and shown more confidence through the transition than I would have hoped. The teachers, students, and families are involved with the school’s success and it shows! It is always promising when your childs least favorite subject is taught by their favorite teacher. My son also enjoys a few of the many clubs and extracurricular activities offered including, Chess Club, co-ed Flag Football, and Basketball. We are so happy to have found this school and community dedicated to my son and his fellow students.

As a student who goes here, I love it. The teachers all care about you, and I cant imagine school without Crew! The hands on learning and projects help keep me interested and have fun. The teachers are very accommodating to your needs, and have let me knit in class!

Our children have had a great experience at Franklin since day one. The teachers and staff are motivated, caring and inspiring. Our boys have been challenged academically and through character development. I am grateful that they have such a great learning environment in which to complete middle and high school.

Wow! I attended the recent expeditionary learning experience put on by the 9th grade class in Pack Square. It was unlike any high school program I have ever attended. The students were well researched and had put together creative presentations - poetry, songs, and videos - that shared their learning with the broader community. And they genuinely seemed passionate about their topics they were presenting and were clearly proud of their learning and their finished product. This school is definitely doing something unique in our community. It’s quite powerful!

Never have I been so frustrated by a system that benefits idiots at the cost of providing talented children with pedantic busywork. If your child needs empty 100s to pass a hard class, send them here.If your child would rather work hard and accept the grades theyre given, and do less useless paperwork for their skill level, look anywhere else.

I really miss school is what I heard this summer - from my 13 year old! I never thought Id hear that again after his experience at another middle school. He especially likes the lack of mean kids and the creative projects. I love how responsive the teachers are (to both of us) and also the strong academics. We are both delighted to have found this school!

I thought a review by someone other than the Principals husband might be appreciated. The school has some good points. Some really great innovative teachers. If you are a top notch student, and dont cause any disruptions you will do fine here. (though you will be bored in some really easy classes)The minute you have an issue either with discipline or learning, you are treated like there is something wrong with you.No one will try and help you if you dont understand, like my student. He kept asking for help and was treated like he was stupid. Ive seen the same happen to friends kids when they get in trouble. No one cares why they are disrupting, they just want them to stop.As a parent if you question anything, you are treated like a pariah, I dont think anyone on the administrative team has been a high school or middle school principal or even a vice-principal. Boy does it show. They do not know what they are doing.I know we wont stay for High School, they do not have enough experience, or enough desire to really help kids learn. They have a great idea, they just need to implement it better. My other kids went to Buncombe county middle schools, this one is just not that different or eve better.Oh and dont get accused of doing something you didnt do. You will be harassed by certain teachers and administrators until you tell them what they want to hear!

At FSI, our daughter has matured into a motivated learner who is gaining the self-awareness, persistence and grit she needs to succeed in whatever comes next for her. Franklin has exceeded my expectations for middle school, and daily demonstrates the value of public charter schools. Her teachers have challenged her to achieve at the highest levels while also engaging with her peers and the community. A good day is any day I pick her up from school and get to hear stories about their most recent project or collaboration.

Im so excited to have my son starting high school at the FSI. I feel confident he will have the same experience of caring, engaged, compassionate teachers that he has had there the past three years. Go Franklin!

Great memeing grounds! I love this school as I am surrounded by my fellow memers. We are a small minority out in the world but at Franklin we are a large group. Only 1 problem no meme club or cafeteria. The staff have gotten on to me for memeing in class, I find it very offensive as I worship memes and they claim to be an all inclusive school. I should be Able to worship freely in the halls. But over all never have I found such a great meme pit. Meme on brothers

The school itself is fairly decent, with teachers that want to see children learn. Though the biggest problem here is the internet. Mainly sites being blocked. Sites are put under broad categories that block the bad ones, as well as good ones. Many times I have seen places where youtube would be incredibly useful. The issue is not the sites, its the students that abuse them. Soundcloud is blocked for crying out loud, that site poses little to no problems to student concentration. Another issue is bandwidth. I am more leniant with this one as there is a financial factor, but the current bandwidth is not always enough to support the school. Sometimes the internet comes to a screeching halt when a lot of students have to use the laptops for expeditions.

So pleased with what a strong academic foundation my 6th grader is receiving. As an educator myself, I was thrilled to see some of the best practices used in the classrooms. My son is learning correct annotation technique in his language arts classes (something my college students often havent mastered)! We are looking forward to many years of rigorous academics for my son who really enjoys being challenged! This strong academic environment is paired with plenty of extra curricular activities, from drawing classes and magic classes to co-ed flag football. Marry all of this with a large service learning aspect, and we could not have asked for a better start for our sons middle school career!

I have made comments about this school before but they always seem to get taken down. I for one is a student at franklin school of innovation. I would never recommend this school to anyone and actually everytime someone ask me about it i tell them its horrible and dont send your kids here. The thing about Franklin is they make theirselves look good to the public saying they are a hands on school and makes it sound like they do all this cool stuff to help kids learn. Well, they dont i have been at this school for 4 years now and the school has never done half the stuff they say they do. For one the school can never get it together they will work so hard on helping the smarter kids in the class to make sure they’re never confused but will never look or consider the kids that really need the help. The biggest thing i hate about the school is every year its different, different rules, diffirent teachers, different schedules. Like they cant just pick one thing and stick with it, its literally impossible for them. To top it off each grade gets different rules (which can make sense to a certain level) but with the stuff they do it doesnt. Example the late work possible: freshman gets 8 weeks to turn in late assignment but seniors only get till the end of class. They say this is because senoirs are more responsible then the younger grades but we also have more responsibility’s like most of the seniors have jobs and doesn’t always have time for finish the 10 assignments were suppose to have done. Even though the school says you can ask the teacher for an extension there are very few teachers that will allow that. So basically this school will stress you be young out. There are kids that have transferred or even DROPPED OUT because they hated this school so much.
