Our daughter has fallen in love with taekwondo because of the high quality of instruction at Jae H Kim Taekwon-do Institute in Ashland. Ms. Shim is an outstanding teacher who brings out the best in our seven year old. We have seen wonderful improvements in her strength, flexibility, patience and determination since starting classes.

I have two children currently enrolled at the Jae H. Kim Taekwon-do Institute in Ashland. My 14-year-old son has been taking classes for more than six years and is a 2nd Dan Black Belt, while my eight-year-old daughter just started attending classes about six months ago. After years of classes, my son continues to learn new and improve existing techniques while remaining engaged and motivated in the process. I started Taekwondo here almost 8 years ago, and since the first day I have always looked forward to each and every class. The instructors are always willing to help anyone, and devote hours on end to make sure everyone improves. Here, everyone is a big family - we all take care of each other, not matter what happens. I really could not have chosen a better school for Taekwondo. Everyone is motivated to learn and we all help each other out. The little kids and the adults work in harmony to learn more, each and every day. Everyone here is focused, but the Institute has a place for fun as well; from annual demonstrations to mat-jumping to other fun activities, every student finds what they like here at the school. Learning at this school has helped me grow as a person as well as in Tae Kwon Do - the core tenets of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit are ingrained in the students and instructors at this school, and by coming to this school I too have understood what these mean. From the friendly, lively atmosphere to the great instructors to my growth as a person, if anyone wants to start learning Taekwondo, be it to get fit or to learn martial arts, I would definitely recommend Jae Hun Kim Tae Kwon Do in Ashland.

When I signed my children up for Taekwondo nearly two years ago, I hoped that they would benefit from a program that emphasizes self-control, perseverance, and focus. What I didnt expect is that my children would improve upon these skills and also experience so much more! The program at Jae H. Kim Taekwondo in Ashland involves more than straightforward martial arts instruction: it provides opportunities to interact with people of various ages and cultures; it offers community-building events; it affords time for younger students to work with older peers who serve as excellent role models; it balances out focused practice time and drills with fun relays, mat-jumping activities, and board-breaking. Ms. Shim and the other instructors know exactly how to set kind but firm limits, and they are endlessly patient and gentle without compromising their expectations of power, precision, and speed in techniques. My children enjoy each Taekwondo class and feel greatly motivated to work harder and learn more. This program has very much exceeded our expectations.
