This was the best decision choosing the Language Institute of Georgia. I have a very basic word knowledge base and have tried using apps and very well-known expensive programs with the hopes of eventually becoming fluent. Nothing has come even close to this instruction. Using the graded reader method has been astoundingly effective and the instructor is the most patient and explains every thing you ask. He literally goes LINE BY LINE through the book. He is extremely knowledgeable and has been incredibly flexible and understanding when I had sudden schedule changes. Its easy to see that he genuinely wants you to learn the language. If youre on the fence about what route to take in your journey to fluency, dont be. This is the way to go!

I’m very happy with my Spanish-language experience at the Language Institute of Georgia. Ahsan is brilliant and is a great teacher. I really enjoy the graded reader method, as it allows me to keep encountering the same words in various contexts so that the meaning actually sticks. There’s no pressure to speak when you don’t even have a vocabulary, yet, which is what many language methods push for. Instead, the graded reader method allows you to learn at your own pace and absorb the information. I’m on my third round of classes, and I definitely feel like I’m making progress and understanding a lot quicker. I’m slowly getting comfortable with speaking some sentences. But people don’t realize that there isn’t a method in the world that will get you speaking well right away. It takes time, and you have to build a foundation. I highly recommend the Language Institute of Georgia if you’re looking to begin that foundation and build upon it!

Ahsan is fantastic and I highly recommend working with him if youd like to learn Spanish or German. The graded reader method works well for high absorption and retention, since its all about recognition through reading. I am taking my third Spanish session with him and Ive learned so much- I am now recognizing more vocabulary when I see it elsewhere. He teaches small classes (up to 6 people) and also offers private sessions in person or virtually. He is very flexible with scheduling, so if you are considering learning Spanish, give him a call. Conveniently located off I-285 in Sandy Springs. Ample free parking.

Ive been learning Spanish with the graded reader method at the Language Institute of Georgia for about 6 months now and I love it. The graded reader method actually enhances fluency and re-enforces sentence structure so that you remember it rather than the traditional method of just memorizing vocabulary. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Ive been learning Spanish on and off since I was in kindergarten, and this method has worked best for me in putting together all my Spanish knowledge pieces of the puzzle. Class sizes are small and very personal. The instructor also makes himself available for make-up sessions if you happen to miss a class.

Excellent class. A different approach to learning a language through the use of graded readers. Expect to get out of it it what you put into it. With daily study one can learn a new language with this approach in less than a year. Small classes that focus on the individual. Highly recommended.

Im currently in the middle of the intermediate class. Its great! I really like the guided reading method of learning. It feels intuitive and comfortable, and while its not always easy, our instructor, Ahsan, is always ready with a metaphor about learning that is both encouraging and entertaining. Our class is small, only three people, and questions are frequent and welcome. Im learning and I really enjoy the class. I definitely recommend it.*I took the sample class before I signed up for a six-week course. If youre unsure, its a nice way to test the waters before you dive in.

Graded reader (GR) is a very unique way of learning a language. In fact, I was somewhat skeptical at first because reading isn’t one of my favorite things to do. Ive completed level 1 and on the second week in level 2. I can say without hesitation that it works. My latino friends, which saw me from knowing only “hola and que paso”, says that not only am I learning it very fast but also proper. Before I started GR, I tried more than 5 or 6 ways of learning Spanish - including programs, apps, and even immersion. I did learn a lot of phrases. After the GR course, I’ve built a large enough vocabulary to hold meaningful conversations.

The stories give more meaning to the vocabulary and help with retention, plus theyre fun little stories. I would suggest those interested in learning Spanish attend one of the sample classes offered. Having taken Spanish classes and also online training (Rosetta and others), I was discouraged- I hated memorizing lists of words, conjugating verbs, etc. The Language Institutes method of READING and comprehension is so much more enjoyable, more natural to how I learn, and its working. It really is silly to memorize or repeat words you dont remember or use in context over and over in the hopes it sticks. By reading real stories, you begin to learn context and the stories themselves help you figure out words you are not familiar with. I actually dont mind studying on my own, and find that I am retaining things more naturally. Using the methods taught here you can begin teaching yourself outside of class- using anything and everything you find written in Spanish as material to learn from.

I recently completed the Basic Spanish course and enjoyed it so much that I wanted to post this review. I have tried software programs like Rosetta Stone, and apps like Duolingo, but never felt like I was truly learning the language. I consider myself more of an analytical person, so it was frustrating to focus essentially on a vocabulary list rather than seeing (analyzing) how such words are used in realistic written or conversational contexts. The graded reader method fits so much better with my style of learning. By reading an intriguing story, seeing key words repeated in different contexts, and having the instructor discuss grammar patterns along the way, my comprehension increased more in 6 weeks than in the several months devoted to the software mentioned. A good analogy is a paint-by-numbers picture. The previous language learning methods gave me a bunch of colors (words) and expected me to paint a picture (conversation or written passage) from a blank slate, a rather difficult challenge. The graded reader method provides a nicely outlined picture with numbered areas so you know exactly what colors and shades (words) should be used where, resulting in something more identifiable and easier to re-create as needed. Bang for the buck, this was a far better investment, and I’ve already signed up for the next level.

I took the Spanish class with Ahsan and absolutely loved the method of reading graded readers. His approach makes learning Spanish a natural process. I had previously tried online and other classes but they were focused alot on vocabulary and grammar so after years of that Im still at beginners level. Once I took this class, I immediately saw the difference by reading the laungage in its original state rather than piece by piece. His method makes it easier to retain. I HIGHLY recommend this class!!!

Learn by reading! The Grader Reader Approach - it is very effective, easy and more interesting than other teaching methods. I have tried several courses, DIY books and online classes only to pick up lots of vocabulary that I cannot use. The Graded Reader method allows you to learn grammar & vocabulary at the same time. No more memorizing lists of words, phrases & such. No more rote, repetitious conjugating.Youre reading stories line-by-line with the teacher explaining/translating throughout. The stories are entertaining and without realizing it, all the pieces of language come together in a practical way. The grammar & vocabulary are repeated throughout the stories in various forms to build & reinforce what youve learned/are learning.Im sold on the method. And, the instructor is great too! Ahsan is engaging and funny. Im always surprised when our 2 hours is up. Already signed up for the next session!

I have taken two programs at the Language Institute of Georgia, I would highly recommend these classes. If you are a person with long term aims of learning Spanish as a language (and not just a manageable Spanish crash course), the methodology of these classes is best for you. The instructor Mr. Ahsan Rashid is very patient with his teaching techniques and brings a different way of teaching , that is, through the reading method. By this method, one is gradually building a vocabulary and on the side learning grammar. Its not about how fast one can learn or speak but focus is on how well one will speak/write eventually. Reading has always provided a language student with an edge of proficiency and fluency.

I started taking routine Spanish lessons prior to enrolling in a class at LIG, and found that the typical Spanish class did not move nearly fast enough or provide me with sufficient information to allow me to advance quickly. When I learned about the approach LIG uses, it seemed completely intuitive to me - after all, this is how all of us learned English as a first language! The graded reader method exposes you to so much more than just vacation Spanish - it really develops your familiarity with and understanding of the language, which moves you closer to fluency much more quickly. After only 6 weeks in this non-traditional class, I advanced at least twice as far as traditional class would have taken me, according to traditional placement tests. The effectiveness of this method depends alot on the students willingness to invest time and effort - you cant become fluent in a language by the silver spoon method. If you are dedicated to reading and doing the suggested activities between classes and committed to developing your understanding of the language as a first step toward speaking fluentlyd, then this is the class for you!
