This place is incredible! The teachers are amazing and supportive and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Steps is a great dance studio. It is a place where your child will learn all different dance genres, ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, and hip- hop. They offer classes to all ages and also the opportunity to be a part of an amazing dance company. The teachers know the children on an individual basis and invest in each of them. My daughter has been dancing here since she was 5. She loves performing and being part of a diverse company.

We also have had nothing but an amazing experience with Emily. My daughter absolutely loves dance and all of the teachers/staff at Steps!! She has been dancing at Steps for about 4 years. Since joining Company last year and being taught by Emily and the other instructors, she has thrived so much as a dancer and personally grown at Steps. Emily also goes above and beyond just teaching dance--she invests personally in developing young dancers as individuals and is incredibly supportive of the dancers and families inside AND outside the studio!! The studio owner, teachers and staff are always responsive in answering/addressing any questions or concerns. We are so fortunate to have our dance home at Steps!!!

Steps Dance Center is such a unbelievably well rounded dance facility. It offers a wide variety of styles and levels of dance, for all skills and ages. The teachers/instructors come from all over the United States to provide quality workshops, master classes, weekly classes, and individual privates. All these classes are uniquely designed to challenge your son/daughter and give them the best dance experience ever. My daughter has danced with STEPS for over 6 years, and feels like she has found a second home. The skills she has acquired is compliment to STEPS and their unbelievable staff. They are a professional studio, with staff that care solely in making your dancer his/her very best.

I felt the need to provide my personal experience of SDC (and not afraid to use my real name). My daughter has been with Steps Dance Center since she was 2 years old. The last 4 years Emily has been her company/tech teacher, and we have NEVER experienced ANY bad attitude or poor communication. I have witnessed that Emily has more care for ALL her dancers and their families then any person I know. She has done wonders for Gigi Playhouse community! What an amazing person to start a wonderful, motivating atmosphere for these children and their families. As a mother, a COO and a consultant for multiple offices, I have experienced that you must take responsibility for the communication between yourself and others, especially if it involves your children and your personal time. The studio owner and staff have allowed me, in the past, to address them with any of my concerns at any time. SDC is amazing and a great place for your dancer/s!!!

Great studio all-around; great teachers, positive atmosphere. Something here for every kind of dancer, whether it be dancing for recreation or training to be a professional, this is the place to be! We attended another local studio for 8 years before switching to Steps and I wish we would have found them sooner!

This place is basically my second family! I have been going to steps for about 7 years and I cant wait for more to come. Very mature and professional studio and gives kids many, many opportunities.

Good studio as long as you can minimize your interactions with Emily. My kids liked it here and really developed as dancers at SDC. However, Emily’s bad attitude and poor communication (last-minute emails containing important info that could have easily been communicated days/weeks earlier) forced us to pull our kids out. We miss the other kids/parents, but SDC would do well to remind Emily that the parents are PAYING for their kids to be there — and that we (and the kids) are not employees for her to boss around. There’s dozens of other dance studios that treat their customers better and will actually listen to our concerns/questions without getting angry/defensiveI should also mention that Rebecca, Karlo, Ashley, & Angelina were awesome and we love them forever

This is my daughters 4th year at Steps Dance Center, and they still continue to impress me! This studio offers the unique combination of a spacious facility, staffed by the best dance teachers in the Chicagoland, and all set in a warm and nurturing environment. The teachers here are made up of industry professionals who are either currently dancing and choreographing and those who have had full careers as professional dancers.My daughter has grown so much, both in dance and as an individual, under the expert instruction of the staff here. They truly care about each and every child at Steps! As a mom, I feel so fortunate that this is where my daughter calls here second home!

I love steps I recommend for all the kids like me out there that want to dance

Steps Dance Center is remarkable on many levels in many ways. They offer terrific instruction of a wide variety of types of dance, but that’s merely the beginning. The teachers foster a nurturing environment that conveys how much each child is cared for as an individual.Our daughter takes jazz, tap, hip hop, ballet, and acro. She began last year in recreational classes, and enjoyed it so much that she asked to audition for the Steps Dance Team. She is now a proud member of the dance company and thoroughly enjoyed her first competition at CoDance this past weekend.The community spirit among Steps dancers, teachers, and parents at CoDance felt tangible. I didn’t see any crazy “dance mom” stuff – only encouragement, positive support, and lots of laughter.I also find that Steps choreography has an artistic quality that makes each number “uniquely Steps” with creative props and cleverly crafted costumes. I was not surprised to learn that behind the scenes there’s a high level of commitment and collaboration not only from the teachers, but parents as well contributing their talents.Throughout CoDance, Steps dancers demonstrated terrific dance technique and exuded confidence, but it was also evident that they were enjoying themselves. As spectators, we can’t help but get caught up in their enthusiasm. As a result, I found that a Fox Valley Showcase and at CoDance, as a member of the audience, I didn’t need a program to know which dances belong to Steps.Before our daughter’s first performance this weekend, her dance instructor huddled her team together and reinforced yet again that she wanted them to do their best, support each other, and most importantly have fun.After three days of dancing, I had anticipated that our daughter would need a break. However, she can’t wait to go back to Steps tomorrow.We came to Steps so our daughter could learn to dance, but already she’s grown in more ways than “simply dancing.” Self-esteem and working well with others while doing her best are valuable skills she’ll use the rest of her life. Thank you, Steps, for the endless inspiration.
