The teachers are excellent and truly care! There are a lot of kids who are 1st generation English speakers, so there is great diversity. This may result in lower scores on standardized tests, but I am happy my children get to learn with such a diverse group.

We have had such an good experience with Red Hawk Ridge! The teachers and before and after staff are friendly, knowledgeable and great with our kids . The principle, Mike Wurdeman has been amazing. He has repeatedly gone out of his way for our family. Highly recommend this school.

My child won the SOAR award and the monthly award at the B and A program all in the same week. she is so DEVASTATED- she thought the bullying for being a goody goody was bad before these awards- she didnt even want to go to school the next day for fear of what the kids would say and do. staff is oblivious. its all about image and the great school rating. Sure Cherry Creek gets high academic awards blah blah blah- but the character development is completely absent in this school. the state can measure test scores but they cant measure character which is a good thing for Red Hawk because their great school rating would be pitiful. Did I mention that my child doesnt even know what SOAR stands for? lol I made her google it and even as a 4th grader she kinda understood the irony of it all because it smells so dang bad. My daughter came home with a box to collect money for cancer. I googled the organization and found out that the program is pennies for pasta and the kids are supposed to be learning about philanthropy, giving, etc to include a movie, and character building. I asked my child about all of this- and she is an outstanding citizen remember- the whole SOAR award- and guess what- she said there was no movie, no speech, no talk, no character education...... just a box in the classroom to collect money and also a box each child received to collect money and the class who got the most money.....wait for it...wait for it.... gets a pasta party. REALLY?? bribing our kids with macaroni to raise money for a cause that the school cares nothing about- only to be able to boast that they are involved in charity and raise a bunch of money for it. PIGS! getting change from parents is easy- seriously, we live in cherry creek district- lets be real- not a big accomplishment Red Hawk- teaching our children about community. compassion etc- thats something worth bragging about but Red Hawk cant take any credit for that. So last week, two nights I spent up with my little scholar until after midnight while she cried about the bullying and was so upset about getting these two awards all in the same week- terrible- and now tonight another sleepless night because she was so excited about the feel of an accomplishment at school that meant something- a charity- and she was even more excited that one kid skipped the pennies and brought in $40 cash so she was sure her class would win....( insert puke here) but now- all excitement gone because I spent my evening talking to her about cancer and how if effects families and how money helps research and helps families who are so unlucky to be faced with such a tough issue... wow- the pennies for pasta program- according to the website- gives schools all the tools to help the school educate the children and develop character.... right....I could stay on this soapbox forever because I happen to care about my childs education- grades are easy- the real stuff is difficult. on a positive note- my childs 4th grade teacher is BEYOND awesome and truly does everything in her power to teach. Her teacher is so involved, funny, patient, encouraging, etc etc every good adjective known to Webster- so for that I am thankful beyond words that in the midst of an ignorant school- my daughter has had the opportunity to learn from a fabulous woman. Thats just my opinion of this school. We are military and my child has been to many schools- this one is the worst- ive considered PAYING to get her enrolled into DPS which is supposedly a terrible district. Just my opinion- I wish I would of had info like this when we moved back to Colorado- I never would of considered this school. But hey, I know some parents who like the school - so I guess that its all a matter of opinion. Thank god we live in America and have the right to chose where we live, what we spend our money on, and in Colorado- what school our children attend :)
