This was my first student experience in about 20 years, and it was no joke. You will learn a ton of drinks, practice pouring techniques over and over, and be licensed before you leave. Furthermore, they provide a plethora of work opportunities when you get out. Jim, the teacher, was prompt, humurous, and extremely knowledgable. I am bvery glad I did thid, and if you want to enter the industry would reccomend it very highly.

It is an intimidating experience when you first walk through the doors- but dont worry about that feeling James will make you feel at home and is actually quite a fun guy. I came with 0 experience as a a bartender and learned a lot about making different categories of drinks, such as classics like the Old Fashioned. My particular class had some great classmates who made the class even more fun! Hopefully I will one day be ordering drinks from them as well as them ordering from me. After graduating James will be there to help you find a job and if you need a refresher you can take his classes again for LIFE! Take the class you will not regret it!

I had a great experience with the Texas School of Bartenders. After the two week program they helped set me up with an interview and I was able to get a job. But more than that it was just a lot of fun. Jim is a awesome guy who makes the whole experience a great time. It is fun learning a bunch of drinks and getting to practice your pouring. The schedule is very flexible as well. If you are thinking about becoming a bartender than you cant go wrong with this course.

This two week course was a great experience. The instructor, James, created an environment that was both challenging and fun. You will learn proper pouring techniques, customer service, and drink recipes from day one. You can also get your TABC license at the end of the course and be ready for employment, which the school will also help you with if needed.I highly recommend this course!

James made coming to class an enjoyable experience. The two week course was exciting and informative and always put us right to work in making new drinks or practicing learned skills. The vast knowledge from experience James has gave us insight and feedback as to what to expect and how to handle different situations. He was always there to help and answer questions and throw in some jokes along the way. He gave us a way to get in contact with recruiters as well as offered up hiring lists upon course completion and really does go above and beyond to try and get us out there to put our new found skills to work. I finished the course and in a week I start my first job. Whether you want to learn something new for hobby or career, or looking to refresh on the basics I highly recommend you take the time and check the place out!

Best choice I ever made!!Dont let others tease you for taking a class that can better your skills. They say you can only learn by being behind the bar. Having just finished the course, I can genuinely say I had a few laughs, learned how to mix 100+ drinks, and made some friends. Great school, great course, Amazing instructor! I was immediately skeptical of his... style... of doing things, but the only thing I have to say is TRUST JAMES. I cannot stress that enough. He will teach you everything you need to know if you simply follow his instruction and work hard. If you trust James, the only reason you wouldnt learn everything about bartending and enjoy yourself while doing it is because you werent meant to be in the bar business in the first place. Overall great experience, flexible scheduling and makeup hours available. Also help with job placement. I had a two job offers before I was finished with the schooling!!

This is definitely a place you learn by doing. Not only teaching you how to make drinks, or hold a bottle. Also getting you comfortable to make the drinks and show your personalityJim has been the best instructor I have ever had like period... Always connected with all his students, more than just a student teacher. Cracking jokes every step of the way!The benefit of taking the course is the help you get with finding a job, which I do have to say is highly dependent on yourself. They give you a list of who to call/visit. Then it is up to you to make it happen.During my course a few employers actually came in and gave out their information, which is what landed me my first bartending job, not even a week after graduation. If you are a go getter, with a positive attitude, this is the place for you!

I entered this place very nervous because I knew absolutely nothing about alcohol. I went in, had fun, learned a lot in two weeks and enjoyed myself at it. James is an incredible and dedicated instructor who does his best to cater to his students’ needs. You can see he absolutely loves what he does and knows how to keep it from getting boring. Because of his instruction, I feel very capable to work at a bar and enjoy it. The only reason one wouldn’t be successful is if they’re not cut to be a bartender, that simple. Flexible schedule, makeup hours, job placement, and food recommendations all the time.

This institution is well worth the money, for not only does it provide a colorful education of mixology as a whole, it also provides a safe environment for you to come out of your shell in. This safe space created by the charismatic instructor is essential in getting the student used to the level of social interaction and communication that is paramount to making money while bartending. To be honest, I was pretty skeptical about investing $600 into two weeks of bartending school thinking that I would get nothing out of it. But after I got some reassurance from Jim and checked out the Austin location, I decided to take a leap of faith and enroll myself into the course. Needless to say, I didnt regret it at all. The instructors James and Drew, were super awesome and taught us virtually everything we needed to know about becoming a bartender. Literally the most fun I’ve ever had in an educational environment. The instructor James, is a fun, smart, hilarious man. He is extremely knowledgeable and can answer all your questions about different types of alcohols, mixing drinks, and how things work in the bartending industry. He also teaches the tabc class, so anything you want to know about bartending, he can tell you. I learned more in the course of two weeks here than I would have ever thought I could. He makes it easy to learn and remember over a hundred different drinks and shooters, and makes sure everyone’s enjoying themselves the entire time. And he’s not too bad looking either. This is a zero pressure environment where you are given a safe place to fail and learn from your mistakes before getting out into the workforce. If you’re thinking about this class, just email them and set up a time to come observe the class for a bit. I guarantee you will leave the tour with the intention to sign up for the class. And you WILL NOT REGRET IT!!

I signed up on a whim and was worried Id be dealing with buyers remorse for quite sometime. However, after learning as much as I did on the very first day, I realized Id made a decent investment for myself. I firmly believe that I can make back the amount I spent rather quickly with the skills I learned here. Theyre not here teaching you fancy flips and tricks. They give you the recipes you need and more. They assist in you learning the skills most necessary in the field. Also, they are flexible with the finances and scheduling. There are 2 tests, so you can gauge how well youre doing. Youre welcome to come back as many weeks as necessary to get this stuff down. We practice with colored water, which, believe it or not, is pretty helpful. I feel that this is more geared towards complete beginners, so thats who will get the most benefit from this class.

I originally started the program in June. I could not finish it and told the instructor that i would return. I gave him 100 dollars up front and returned and gave him 200 in cash. I changed banks because i was going to move back to austin soon and i let him know. I called two weeks ago and they said that i could begin Monday again. When i walked in the instructor yelled at me, you owe me money!!! Sit right there! Infront of everyone. I replied, yes, i do. Im not sure why he thought that i felt that i could walk in and finish the program without paying the rest of the tuition. I gave him the rest upfront, he then decided that i was part of the family. During the lesson he told the class that he had called me, time and time again. Which he did not. He only called once when i was driving. The next day i felt ill and asked to leave early. He turned to another student and said, she just wants to leave class. Once i felt better i decided that it was just not worth it to go back and finish the rest of my training at my job. Side note: he has SUCH vulgar language that just did not care for.

My experience with this course was a very positive one. James (the instructor) is a great guy and a straight shooter, and I was able to land a bartending gig within a week of finishing the course. Not everybody in the industry holds bartending school in high regard. If you are personable and persistent, this wont keep you from landing a job quickly. This school is all about training you for the constantly changing and fast paced environment that is bartending. I went in with an idea of what it would be like and came out with a complete different understanding but knowledge of how to work behind a bar and make drinks in a timed and orderly fashion with knowledge that most bartenders dont know. You really get what you pay for with this school. The harder you work in the class the more you will remember and will know once you get out there. I got 2 bartending jobs immediately after finishing my 2nd week and am now a manager at a local restaurant. This school will open doors for you like it did for me. All youve gotta do is work hard, pay attention and most importantly, have fun man. Making drinks is awesome.
