My three girls have attended this school since it first opened. We love this school, the growth we have seen in the years since it has opened has been amazing! The staff is awesome, they work really hard and put every childs needs high on there priority list. I love that they focus on athletics. To me having PE everyday helps get the kids energy out to be able to focus in the classroom better. They are also very big on anti-bullying. I would recommend this school for anyone looking for an alternative to a regular public school.

My son has been attending Athlos/Jubilee for several years. I have been very impressed with several teachers and feel my son gets the support and attention he needs. I have always had quick response to any issues. I appreciate everything they do and look forward to a new school year.

Im a student at this school and this is a fairly good. school they take care of students with special needs. most students and teachers seem to enjoy being here also the people with one stars are just mad because their kids are lying to them for getting a bad grade and they always blames the teachers. when they complain they do not believe when the teachers say they did not do their work (aka the entitled parents who say the teachers are the lying and their child is always right) students perspective matters too.

I would give lower than a 1 if i could. The lack of communication between parents and staff is laughable. All of the prior statements about the absurd teacher turnover rate is true!!! I am glad the few students who wrote a review had positive experiences, but i have given this school and its unqualified staff 3 years to step up, and its only getting worse! This will be my sons last year here. I cant wait to see this huge mistake come to an end!

I wish I could give half a star. Or zero stars. This is a horrible school. They do not care about the students or their well being. They also treat the teachers horribly and with no respect. The scandals they endured last year should have shut this place down but they just brought in another shady principal. I cannot wait to see this place come to an end.

The Jubilee Way:I was employed as Character Coach for two years, received consistent accolades from the Director and administrators with whom I worked very closely. The morning after attending an especially joyous Meet the Teacher, I arrived to find Id been summoned to the library, and fired.Same Director, suddenly not recognizable.Something blatantly horrible, some unforgivable transgression must have come to light, to be sure...the day before school begins? You would think. The girl in my photo is my special needs sister. My boss was keenly aware that Id stepped up in response to her evolving needs for caregiving, and Id only days before forwarded an email Id sent to HR, broaching FMLA participation.THIS was my unforgivable offense.See attached letter from Dept of Labor at the conclusion of their investigation. Please note that EVERY of the highest ranking men in this organization embraced this inconceivably calloused position. Not one of them stood up for whats right.Think about that.Honk, wave at me when you see the sidewalk protests.

At first I thought my child was being dramatic when I was told, We had ANOTHER sub... Again... It was probably the 10th or 11th substitute teacher. I later confirmed that this wasnt an exaggeration when I spoke to other parents. This school hasnt done very much to actually teach the children. Kids are coming home frustrated because they dont understand the homework. How can they if theres always substitute teachers teaching the class??Ive heard stories of kids being bullied and the coaches and teachers do nothing. Even when the staff is advised, Excuse me Mr./Mrs. Teacher/Coach, this kid is picking on this other kid... Quit being a tattletale. ----Seriously?!? Thats the response from the staff? Come on now.The one positive thing I can say is that the ladies at the front desk are always polite.

Sadly, Athlos is more a behavioral rehab center than a charter school. Their focus appears to be on catering to students with behavioral issues rather than helping successful students reach their full potential. In our experience, there are no consequences for bad behavior, bullies and those with no respect for authority are protected, and incidents are swept under the rug as soon as they are reported.I served as a substitute for part of the year, and when I was forced to escalate complaints about my child being bullied, I was blocked from further jobs. Only after I complained to the central office that this was against their stated policy, was that block lifted. The teachers, are the bright spot, as the vast majority actually care for the children. However, there are many of them that are not certified and in some cases it seems that they just picked up someone off the street to fill the spot. For those teachers that do care, there is no support from their superiors. Academics are below average, below standards, not challenging, and not engaging. There is no set speed to the programs; kids sit around for hours in front of a laptop and teach themselves. The report card shown at their parent site shows that they failed to meet standards. During my time as a substitute several staff members confided in me that they would be moving their children to different schools next year and advised me on a number of other charter schools. Theres no clearer red flag than that. The school is complete chaos. We have contacted the media, police, and attorneys over the past year due to my childs experience. I cant caution you strongly enough against placing your child in this school. Unless you are a parent with low expectations, or your child is a bully or has other behavioral issues that would make them unwelcome at another school, look elsewhere.

Teachers where and are horrible, some didn’t teach and made kids feel bad. When I was there i had serious problems with bullying and sexual harassment, don’t send your kids here. I was harassed when I attended in 8th grade and the kids where only suspended 2 days and we still haven’t gotten follow ups on anything. Education wise there are barely any good teachers, we always had people being fired or hired. I recommend highly or to send your kids here

Athlos Leadership Academy is dedicated to building character strength, social and intellectual skills in our children. The charter schools expect more out of kids. Dress in uniform, be a good citizen, get your homework done, do extracurricular work and work hard on everything. Its harder but worth it.

If I could give lower than a one, I truly would. I recommend that you read ALL reviews before sending your child to this school and think about the fact that the schoolsstaff to parent communication is absolutely terrible, nobody ever knows what’s going on, the bullying towards my son, an 8th grader, is outrageously alarming and the school was threatened to be shot up at the beginning of this 2018-2019 school year after two 9th grade boys got into a physical altercation. If you want your children around violence, terroristic threats, bullying, and lack of communication then you do that, but I know I’d definitely want all of this information. After this year, my son will not be returning.

This will be a long post. I started my child here in 2nd grade -which is at the smaller campus, b/c I had heard their curriculum was amazing and they teach the 7 habits by Stephen Covey. 2nd grade was an excellent time for my child. Well-this 2017/2018 school year, my child moved up to 3rd grade, where all the big kids go. Whole different story. There was some challenges in the beginning with my daughters 504 being met by her teacher, I had to email a lot to explain everything all the time. I constantly asked for help and guidance. She was pretty good with my child, but then she left in December-1 day before winter break. Parents were not told that she had left, until afterwards, but all the kids were told. I was in shock. The email stated, they had no idea it was coming. That is the first of shady incidents with the upper level management, I started to notice. My child was being bullied a lot and I talked about this with her former teacher, whom I thought was handling it, but I am not sure. I complained over the winter break to the Vice Principle and Copied the Principle on this complaint. I had never gone to them before and was unsure that I should. But I did, and we paid dearly for it. So in January, when the kids went back into session, there was a sub for their teacher till they could find someone. That is teacher #2, then the new teacher started beginning of Feb, teacher #3, my childs confidence in her school work paid dearly and so did others, ( I talked to those parents) My straight A child who loved school, said I need a math tutor and I dont understand anything. Grades slipped to C and one F. WHAT-Benchmark slipped to 47%- should be a red flag. But no one cared. Lets talk about having my child and I standing up for themselves-well that backfired. My child all of a sudden became victimized for standing up for themselves. All of a sudden we need an ABA therapists for behaviors-that has never happened till the bullying started. Instead of dealing with the bullying , my child is at fault. They dont support the staff and teachers come and go like crazy. Not a very well thought out school. I do not suggest this place for anyone.

Uniforms - too expensive, not what ordered (smaller than what is in the front office)Teachers - too many new teachers (that should have been a HINT)Drop off - too many changes in drop off (no consistency for the flow of traffic)Pick up - pick 1 or 2 lanes it is not that hard (easier last year)Assistant Vice Principal - Does not need to be rude, dont block parents cars if they are trying to leave just because we parked to the side. When asked for her name she did not want to give it to me. When trying to get out of the spot she placed orange cones and stood right in front of my car but did not want to move. She was waving other cars to go before me even though they just pulled up to let kids get out right on front of the entrance doors. As I was pulling off she took a picture of my license plate. So, I pulled over and got off took a picture of her and she stated they know who I am. Waited for the Principal but she had meeting and was passed off to someone else. He tried to explain why I was told what she was trying to do but did not have a reason WHY she did what she did. What is really bad was that my son was right there and saw and he loves his teachers and fellow classmates.

2 or my kids have had great experiences with this school. They are in 4th grade and have been there 2 years. However my older son who is in 8th grade hasn’t had the same experience. It might be because he’s older and more opinionated but after reading these reviews I do notice some of the trends that he tells me. Which is that teachers yell at him for no reason and even that one teacher doesn’t teach anything. Honestly I didn’t believe him but now I do a bit more. Since it’s changing from athlos to jubilee we will stay for now and see how the new year goes. But if it doesn’t improve we will move somewhere else. But like I said my younger two have had great experiences and have had the best grades ever

This school isnt the place for your kid if they want to go to a D1 school because the 8th Grade Math curriculum does not prepare your child for Algebra 1 and up. They dont set up the problems like they should and they dont teach how to properly graph because they use graphing caculators that doesnt make your child work. The caculator basically does the work for them. Graphing calculators are for Physics and up.

I had the same experience with my child as Mrs. McGill. Teacher leaving with no parental notice. No notices of a new sub or the permanent teacher once they got one well after the first teacher left. My child loved the smaller campus. He begs to be home schooled now. He complains of classroom bore dome and bullying. I loved when he first got accepted into this school because I know they review each childs disciplinary report coming in from other schools to hopefully lessen and/or eliminate bullying or disruptive behavior he has complained about in other schools. One day we got called to pick him up because he got knocked down and hit his head on the ground trying to protect another classmate from being bullied. Where are teachers in catching this bullying and stepping in to hold the bullies accountable? Where is the flow of communication with parents? My daughter goes to the Kindergarten level campus and I get updates continuously through Class Dojo for her but there seems to be no flow at this campus. The GT program wasnt fully formed at the larger campus when school started. My son mentioned he never did anything for GT a few months into the school year. The principal told me the GT programs new director was still forming the program. Now that he has been doing it the rest of the year he says he does really enjoy the program. There is now a sudden change in ownership so we have to buy all new uniforms for next year, though no notices or emails were sent out. We had to discover that coming in for end of year assemblies. Other parents complained about the same thing. How many more changes are going to happen without proper parental notification? I am giving it 3 stars, still. There is a lot of good that should be acknowledged. My son has loved all his teachers here. In my Pre-K experience with Harmony on Rundberg this school has much better office management and much more cordial interactions with parents. I brought a forgotten lunch to my child at Harmony and they didnt even get it to him as promised by the office staff. They still couldnt locate it upon pickup and it ended up being in the lunchroom on the cart. Jubilee/WBLA has much better coordination. The principal, counselor, and staff are also very pro-active in dealing with personal issues that arise, and show genuine care about their students.

My daughter just started here and so far, its been chaos starting with a difficult & tiresome registration process with numerous unanswered emails, to changing all 6th graders schedules on the 1st day so you have no idea what school supplies to buy, crazy amounts of school supplies requested that Ive never seen in other schools & most disappointing: lack of importance given to the 5th grade to 6th grade transition spreading all 6th grade classes together with 8th grade classes throughout one building. I feel its insensitive to incoming 6th graders to mix them from day one with 8th graders throughout the day during class changes. So far, it seems the school is poorly run. I will update my review as the school year progresses in hopes the school will work more efficiently for the students benefit.
