Best thing I ever did for my son was to put him in United States Taekwondo. He took a liking to martial arts and to see him put so much interest and passion in the techniques hes learning puts the biggest smile on my heart. Im so proud of him and this could have never been accomplished without the dedication from his teacher Master Lockett. I really appreciate you Master Lockett for everything you do in order to prepare the kids for not only protecting themselves but also teaching them the significant of respecting others and also teaching them to set goals for themselves and reaching them. I recommend United States Taekwondo to anyone and everyone thats ready to make a positive change for them or their kiddos!

Before you see the owners response I am 100% truthful and know what place I attended I know how the place looks and were it is this is a common strategy used to drive off reviews like this. I have attended this specific location for a few years and at first I thought they were all nice and good deal. After around 4 to 5 months though I realized that they were just focusing on forms no combat practice at all. I came individually and really started to note that people who came in packages were being given more help(most likely due to the store profiting more) and I would sometimes stay entire sessions with no proper instruction or help( note I was beginner and was still getting accustomed) As time progressed I also was quite overwhelmed by how quickly we were moving through ranks of belts, and within a year I was at green, which is just way too fast and I didnt learn anything so much to jump that many of levels. The owner only seemed to care about payments a lot and I suspect he made us move so many levels as he would charge around 70 bucks for a new belt change. I also tried to go with auto pay at one point but auickly withdrew after I was charged double within a few days merely getting my refund. There are many better martial arts training in the Austin area and take my word now, do not join this center for your own sake, after I left I realized how much time, money, and recources I wasted.

My son has been going to US TKD for about 3 months and he loves it. I particularly like it because the Master reinforces goals, ie. having to earn the white belt, earning black stripes with parental approval. He gives parents a say in their advancement of belts based on behavior and demonstrating the values it says it instills

My daughter has been training with Master Pak for nearly 7 years now. He is one of the best teachers I have seen. He is very good with small children and helps them build confidence in themselves. He keeps them disciplined while still allowing them to have fun. He treats all of his students (young and old) like family. He inspires students to be their best without pushing them past their limits.I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in learning a martial art to attend UMAEC.

I moved to Austin last year with over 30 years of experience in Taekwondo, and I even previously ran my own school. I decided when I moved here I wanted to become a student again and learn something new. I visited many schools (of all different arts) in the Austin metro area, and I was having a tough time finding someone with a rank and skill set that could truly make me feel like a student again. I was so excited to find Grand Master Paks school and his Hapkido program. Its not often you can find a school with a true Grand Master that still teaches weekly classes and this was an opportunity I could not pass up! G.M. Pak makes learning Hapkido very safe and with a focus on practical applications. Everyone taking the class is super friendly and ready to help so dont be afraid to start with no prior experience. If you are looking for Taekwondo in these reviews, Grand Master Pak still gets on the mats and teaches it as well! He is an amazing technician and competitor with a life time worth of knowledge and a passion ready to pass along no mater your age or rank. The environment is very family friendly and safe. Whether you want to become a world class competitor, learn practical self defense, or just challenge yourself in a different way this school should be your home!

My name David Montalvo. I have owned and operated Champions Taekwondo Center LLC for 16 years. I met Grand Master Jang Hee Pak when i was 9 yrs old when my original taekwondo school closed down. He made my transition into his school easy and enjoyable. As i continued my training i received by 1st degree black belt by him under the North American Taekwondo Federation which was under ITF. Grand Master Pak was always very encouraging and challenging with his instruction. The one thing that i admired and learned the most was that he kept learning and continued his training. He was always lead by example. While i was a student of his, he learned to be a jeweler, massage therapist and now a student of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Master Pak has recently joined the WT Poomsae circuit which has been absolutely amazing to watch since all he taught in his school was ITF poomsae. What many in the US do not know is that Grand Master Pak is the instructor to some of the best fighters in the US and probably the best fighter the world has ever seen. Under his tutelage there was myself (David Montalvo), Jason Torres, Jean Lopez, Mark Lopez, Diana Lopez and Steven Lopez. I hope that he continues his journey in competing in poomsae, because it has inspired me to once again get back in the ring and fight again.

My 5 year old daughter started lessons here a month ago. We like that Grandmaster Pak himself teaches the class, and that its small so she gets a lot of individual attention. He is kind, but firm, with the kids, and we appreciate his emphasis on focus and discipline. My daughter always has fun during the half-hour class because Grandmaster Pak switches up the activities. Its also affordable compared to other well-rated schools (around $130 a month compared to $200). I always get the sense that Grandmaster Pak teaches for love and the pursuit of excellence, that its a boutique experience and not a commercial franchise. So it just depends on what youre looking for. Hooray for another Wells Branch gem.

Grand Master Pak and his school is by far the best in Austin! After searching, sitting in, and reviewing several other Austin area martial art disciplines; my wife and I have found the United Martial Arts Education Center to be the best! Grand Master Pak teaches his students to have strong and proper form for world competitions while explaining how those moves are used for self defense. Anyone who has an issue with this school is either a bad student or didnt have what it takes to be taught by a true Tae kwon do master!

Doesnt teach properly or any good defenses tactics. Brings bad trainers who dont seem to be proficiently trained. Only focuses on families for the stores benefit. Over all of this it is very overpriced compared to others.

I have been so very happy to have found Master Pak to continue my training after relocating to Austin. His combination of friendship, attention to detail, and concern for his students is nothing short of amazing. I would unreservedly recommend him for any age student.

Master Pak is a patient, caring instructor. He gives time to make sure each white belt has a strong start to their study. Moreover, he takes a personal interest in his students and greets them all with a smile before each class. There are other instructors that teach as well (like Master James) who are very skilled. In my opinion, this makes the school stronger as each instructor brings different qualities to the training. Master Pak is well known in the taekwondo community and is well regarded. It is a privilege to learn from him. My children also love going to this school and I love that were doing this as a family. If youre looking for a taekwondo school in Austin, I highly recommend UMAEC.

A great school that brought me back up to loving Tae Kwon Do again.I hadnt practiced TKD for a few years since I started here but everyone including the instructors welcomed into the program. The method can be tough and grueling but if youre looking for a school to test your prowess and get better this is the school for it.

Grandmaster Jang Hee Paks school has now become a second home to me, as I previously trained at Iowa State University under Grandmaster Yong Chin Pak and even prior under Grandmaster Woo Jin Jung in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I was skeptical at first, looking for another school as a higher rank can be a daunting task. I soon felt a warm welcoming and ease. Grandmaster J.H. Pak is a member of the United States Taekwondo Grandmasters Society. This organization is a group of senior, high-ranking Taekwondo Grandmasters across the United States. As a member of this organization, he quickly recognized my taekwondo education and career from my previous instructors in Iowa. Not only did he recognize and acknowledge my rank, he also comprehended my love and dedication for the sport and art of taekwondo. You never know who knows someone else - so make a great first and lasting impression.
