I honestly dont know what Azusa Pacific University staff members do all day. I wonder if APU staff work hard enough to earn their salaries. I am a current Azusa Pacific University student who was accepted for admission in the middle of June. I requested a transfer credit evaluation more than one month ago, but it took MORE THAN A MONTH for APU staff to begin my transfer credit evaluation. Their lame excuse is that they have not received a required form that must be submitted. APU staff did NOT inform me that my transfer credit evaluation was taking a long time because of a change in administration (a new dean). I am STRONGLY considering transferring to a different school, one in which I can receive PERSONALIZED ATTENTION. Zero stars for Azusa Pacific University staff!!!! If I could give NEGATIVE five stars, thats what I would do!!

I would have given this school a better review however the way they have handled covid has made me lose so much respect for this school. They have made the students lives a living hell, class is not only mandatory but your camera has to be on and if it’s not we don’t receive credit for class. If we have more than a certain amount of absences they take up to 3% off of our grade for every additional absence... ridiculous. Not to mention they raised tuition for students instead of giving us some of our money back because of the certain circumstances. They will find any way possible to charge you money. Even if you miss chapel they charge you money! Ridiculous

It is a private Christian school so naturally it’s over priced. The parking for freshman is a joke. My teachers were mostly good at with a lot of experience. I enjoyed the work to and from easy to west campus. The dorms were fine. It definitely had a different vibe in everyone so be sure to do your research. I got stuck in Engstrom, known for being a stuffy dorm. While I’m not a huge partier, I still enjoy getting out and doing things and ended up being stuck on campus a lot due to the people around me mostly being nursing majors. I enjoyed my freshman year and the people I met. Wish I could have explored more.

Might be a great place, but based on their staff in the front Id never attend. I was next door at Harbor Freight when my 4 year old started doing the potty dance and REALLY needed to go. Of course, the bathrooms at Harbor Freight were out of order. I walk next door and the employee/security guard Juan informs me my son cant use the bathroom and that Juan doesnt make the rules. Juan then told me I could walk across the parking lot to Sams Club.... With a 4 year old who was already doing the potty dance. Thanks Juan.Letter of the law and spirit of the law, Juan.

After graduating here over 5 years ago I wish I had gone to a state school and saved some money. The firing of Adam Ackley will be the reason I wont ever give another dollar to the school. Have some great friends from here but the quality of education was just so so. The value of their liberal arts degrees is definitely worth questioning and I didnt leave the school ready to work with competitive skills in my profession.

I applied to the adult studies program to finish up my bachelors degree in late 2010. This means I actually attended classes at a satellite campus, not the main campus in Azusa. The satellite facilities are excellent and your graduation ceremony is held at the same time as the convention students. This was a very touch, in that it facilitated family coming to see your college graduation. Although I only visited the main a few times, somehow they make you feel connected to the entire university.I was extremely pleased with the caliber of instruction that each instructor provided. Every aspect of this school is well managed and professional. I completed a bachelors degree Human Development and successfully transitioned into a teaching credentialing program at a state school.I read some reviews below giving the school one star.... the reasons should not be a surprise.... they dont approve of same gender relationships, they have strict rules.... Well, yes, it is a Christian college and they CLEARLY point out what they believe and what they reinforce when going through the admissions process. In the end, this school is a great choice, if you are looking for a college that has very low teacher to student ratios, this is it. If you are looking for a school that is safe for you or child, this is it. If you are looking to complete your bachelors, but cant make it Azusa, look into one of their satellite campuses.

I enjoyed the majority of the students there, and the professors I had were great, but the way this place is ran is sadly a joke and they will do everything they can to get your money. Someone graffitied Money First on campus a few years back, mocking their motto God First, and I sadly cant agree more with the graffiti. People can try to discredit that due to it being graffiti, but I believe its the voice of equally upset students speaking up.

Pretty decent school the only thing I would say that they could improve on is creating a balance between their Christian values and the actual information that students need to matriculate. They also need to be a little bit more open to diversity. It’s a really lovely campus and most of the people there are friendly. Their music department is excellent.

Best Christian University in Western USA. APU faculty, staff and students are “disciples and scholars” in a God First environment. All four of our kids are graduates. One is a medical doctor, one is a dentist, two are in sales and marketing. All landed good jobs in a competitive Midwest job market. All are now adult church members. They were prepared for life and work by APU. Highly recommend.

Warm environment at first and we always dress it up for visits. But this school is run to milk students and extract every dollar from the students pockets they can. It seems to be a good education and provides resources but if you choose APU be prepared to pay around $2000 a year in extra little fees.

Worse experience ever, the instructors were very mean, unprofessional, and rude. A lot of the people here were very unfriendly. Did not feel like a Christian at all. Go to a local college instead, shame on this place.

This review is specifically targeting the inherently discriminatory policies of the Office of Student Employment. I am currently a full-time student, and I work full time. I have been working full time for the last decade in my life, and Im familiar with the initial employment document process. Most businesses accept scanned, emailed, or digital I-9 documents because they understand that their employees are busy working, raising a family life, or taking care of personal affairs. The businesses, that Ive worked under fair policies, dont expect me to deliver documents to where theyre centrally located, at my expense. The policy the Office of Student Employment demands--bringing in physical ID documentation--is inherently discriminatory because it is act as a physical obstacle against non-traditional students, but allows ease of traditional undergraduate students to bring in documentation. APU is a traditional evangelical Christian university that services a majority of privileged population, but needs to make changes to their policies so theyre not accidentally discriminating against those who arent as privileged. I will change this review once they change their policies.

I dont understand why a proclaimed Christian school would encourage the attacking of other Christian denominations? This isnt positive. A true Christian would just be positive and spend there energy only spreading there Christians views without judgement. This makes me laugh and creates no respect at all. Like said before, not a very tolerating or accepting school. If you like being treated like a child, with strictly enforced rules and absurd values that you are somewhat forced to follow, even while you are off of their campus, then by all means, APU is for you. I graduated this year, and I wish I had chosen a better school. APU makes school not that enjoyable.

First, APU also does not allow technology use in most of their classes (computers, tablets, etc). I even had a class on how to blog... But because there was a no laptop /tablet policy, we were forced to blog on paper and then recopy it, in our own time, onto a website at home. If the student is paying for the class, its their responsibility to ensure they make the most of it and dont peruse Facebook whilst in class. The rest of us have tablets and laptops we use for our books and notes. This school is falling behind in technology advancement and use in education. But even sadder, I was very disappointed in the doctrinal stance (or lack thereof) of this Christian school. The faculty was overwhelmingly liberal Christian or nothing and only a few faculty that I met even cared about Christianity or belief in the God of the Bible vs. a God of the worlds devising. Not only does APU discourage conservative doctrine, but it encourages open demonstrations of an enormous homosexual group on campus, advocates a flavour of worldly love not taught or allowed in Gods Word, and the classes each have a unique angle to shake students to their very core on their beliefs in order to get them to think on their own by introducing and forcing them to read certain controversial books written by atheists, Satanists, Buddhists, and the like.I watched in sad horror as most of my professors destroyed the seeds of faith in my classmates and they graduated either atheists, confused and angry, or embittered against Christianity.Azusa Pacific University is not a place to send a young adult who is not rooted deeply in every aspect of the Word of God and connected already with a solid church in the area before arrival. In conclusion, I would never recommend this school to anyone who called themselves a follower of Christ.

Its been about a decade since I was a student here, so I think my romanticized notions have subsided enough to write an objective review.I am thankful for APU in four main ways:1.) As an educator, Im thankful that my degree in Youth Ministry prepared me well for the developmental challenges of teaching middle school and high school. Without the academic study of developmental psychology, I would have had a much harder time learning to teach.2.) Im thankful that APU integrated questions of pragmatic faith into the curriculum. At every step, I reflected on how to connect the way the world /should/ be to the way the world /is./3.) APU had enough degree programs that I could switch my major four times and still arrive at something I liked. There were/are enough fields of study to accommodate a wide variety of learners. Four of my siblings all attended APU also: Psychology, Art, Theology, and Political Science Pre-Law. All doing well in their fields. Also, because they attract such interesting and varied people, I met my wife there.Certainly, its easy to be critical and find things that are less than ideal about any institution, particularly the big ones. In spite of her flaws, APU remains the school I most recommend for students looking to explore academics and faith.
