This was an emotional experience Im just happy its over. I want to give a huge shoutout to an instructor and I believe she should be recognized Mrs.Ochoa she never gives up on her students, always pushing them towards greatness and checking up on them from time to time on teams and she doesnt respond late like other instructors. She believed in me when I couldnt believe in myself. She cares about her students. So thank you Mrs. O! This post is for you!

I was really excited to return to school and gain some experience to finally get a job. My instructor was very helpful and kind. But when it would come to administration, that was a whole different thing. It would take them a while to reply, my previous career advisor would take almost two weeks. With my previous career advisor, I felt like my suggestions and my goals were thrown out the window. It honestly made not want to even associate with them anymore. And I didn’t. Of course, this may have upset them, but after being left with no answers, I didn’t want to waste my time. I was told that I would get a job as soon as I graduated. And even though I was grateful for being given the chance, I left the job. I was severely unhappy and I realized that it’s not what I even wanted or suggested from my career advisor. Thinking on it now, I feel like I have done my career search all on my own. I honestly regret I even went back to school.

I called for info about paying and they responded saying it was on the website then in the beginning they said I would be paying one thing now im paying waaaay more than what I was told tbh I probably wouldve never went if that was the case they were really not helpful

One of the worst companies to work for by far! Horrible services provided to staff students and employees. Multiple reviews given by Ivonna Edkins, hostile and lack of experience and knowledge in hospitality and how to approach employees. Dont waste your money!

Since I started the enrollment process the faculty has been friendly and kind. Being a few months into my program I love my teachers and classmates. I’ve been receiving periodic emails about what’s going on during COVID-19 and so far SJVC has been a great school.

I graduated the surgical technology course in September, 2018. I love SJVC!! Within less than a week of graduating, I applied for a job and went to work as a surgical tech. The instructors were fantastic, the courses challenging and stimulating, and the pace was fast. Best advice: Hit the ground running, dont procrastinate, be prepared for class, do all of your reading, assignments, and projects as soon as they are assigned, and youll do fine. Everyone at SJVC has been so helpful... Its definitely not a regular junior college campus. (Thank God...) I highly recommend SJVC, no matter what field of study one chooses to pursue.

I love this school. Most of the teachers are amazing. Some online teachers are hard to deal with but most of the on campus teachers will help you/tutor you on your online work if youre having a hard time even if u arent one of their students. Everyone is so nice I wouldnt go to another school. Business teachers are awesome!

I am a previous student and have questions about hvac credentials but when I call no one seems to answer. Is there anyway of getting a hold of someone that can help me with my question?

It was uncomfortable back in 2006 when I was pregnant, they made me feel like I had to have my baby on a Friday and come back on the following Monday. I dont feel that the college really made it friendly for me being pregnant and going to school there.

I spent almost 2 years at this school. I had a great experience and great instructors. I was in the Respiratory Therapy program. Yes, it was expensive, but totally worth it because you learn all the information you need and get the clinical experience all in a short/ fast paced period of time. I would highly reccommend the RT Program to anyone looking for a way to get a quick career. 19 months seems like a long time, but it really goes by quickly.

EVERYONE in this school is so rude and give you so much attitude for no reason. You can’t tell that everyone hates their job there. Teachers sucked and so do the people that “help you get a job”at that school. Save your money.

I requested info and got a call as I was walking in to my sons school conference. I asked for a call back but never got one. This was followed by emails saying theyre sorry I wasnt interested. I emailed and explained I was interested but couldnt get a call back and even those were ignored. I opted for HDMC, which was prompt, polite and wanted to help me.

Everyone here is very helpful with the whole process of enrolling. The instructors and academics advisors really do want to see you succeed. They take time to make sure you understand all the information you are studying.

A lot of people have the wrong idea about SJVC and think it is all bad and not affordable but so far , my experience has been very good. I like how the classes are small enough to where you can actually interact easily with classmates and the instructors. I am actually learning and getting well prepared for the Veterinary Technician field.

Clean and professional environment. Advisors are super encouraging and friendly. They have a variety of many different professional programs. I am in my 3rd MOD in the MOA program and I am learning so much. You can definitely tell my instructors purpose is to get her students ready for the real world medical office.

They made promises they didn’t keep, they take advantage of you especially if you are young. Also way over priced. If you are considering sjvc please explore more options before making a decision.

I’m currently in the Medical assisting program, and I have to say that I absolutely love it! The teachers are amazing and so informative.

I am currently enrolled at SJVC and I am really enjoy coming to school. Most of the instructors are so willing to help you and work with you. All of them arent only instructors but mentors and I like that. I would refer anyone trying to decide what to do to come in and see what options are here for you. I graduate in February 2014 and am so proud of myself for making this choice. Best one yet.

Cant say whether this school is good or bad but I went to this school to get a tour of the campus and the people at the front desk are very clueless and unprofessional, theyre on their phones and goofing off they honestly looked like high schoolers just hanging out at the front desk. You get asked a series of questions by the counselor and the financial aid office ask questions about your income. Be prepared especially for the financial aid office. I honestly felt uncomfortable when I checked out this school. I would prefer to study at BC than at this place. If youre wondering the tour of the campus takes about 2 hours including talking with the counselor and the financial aid office.

SJVC will fast-track you into a high caliber job. That is the way it is structured and it works great!

This school is a joke, I went there for 5 months and it was a waste of money. Teachers and deans say their there to help you its a lie. Teachers dont really care about anybody except you showing up to class each and every second. Teachers will call you out in class if your one minute late asking why none of your business, Im here aint I. This school is not worth the time or money. I decided to go back to Bakersfield College and pay about 1500 for the same program and classes instead of 20000. I dont recommend this school to anyone. If your trying to join MA program and you get Diana Torress ( Good Luck). This school is not a learning experience at all the only thing they care about is money thats it. There are so many better schools out there please dont go here. Its not worth your time or money.

I would like to start out by saying how much I love SJVC. I did every ounce of research possible before deciding SJVC was the right choice for me. I met with my advisor Daron, who is by far super amazing! She did everything possible to make becoming a student again possible and easy! She introduced me to my instructors and helped me even get involved in campus. I have had a small variety of teachers here, Mayo, Torres, Ledezma & Martinez along with a few general education teachers. Each one of them have always helped me and made sure I knew what I needed to know by the end of class everyday. I come to school to learn & become better at what I want to do. These teachers are by far SUPER amazing! I wouldn’t change them for the world! Each teacher has their own way of teaching however that’s what makes learning fun and worth it. I love SJVC so much that I am now even the ASB & MA Club President. I have been at this school for 10 months and still believe I’ve made the right choice!Just a bit of information to all those who like to give low reviews.. you can only ever get what you give out of anything in life.. this saying is not only true for school but for relationships & life in a whole!Thank you,Brittany M. Some teachers are great but if you want to speak your mind about problems you have they get ignored. If you go to corporate with your problems all you do is get backlash from faculty at the school. They care more about themselves than they do about their students and teachers.

I am a recent student at sjvc and I can truly say that my experience here has been awesome I have met a bunch a new friends and my instructors are super nice and teach you what you need to know for your program. Im in the therapeutic massage program and trust me it is amazing all the things you need to know and learn its not just all about spa massages and were the onky campus in town who offers the TM program so cone check it out I know you wont regret it.

My experience so far at S.J.V.C Bakersfield has been a very educational one. I havent been in school since 2003, and this is my second Mod. I have taken H.C.P, English, and now I am in currently taking MAP 115. My teachers have been really cooperative with me. They believe in you and what you will become. The teachers make sure you know what they are teaching. I have had some complications with my health while going back to school, but, my teachers have helped me get through everything. Even my adviser gives me advise when I need it. This has been a good college for me so far, and I challenge you to step up and get a career, and become someone you have always wanted to become. I go to Bakersfield San Joaquin Valley College to become a Medical Assistant.

I agree with most on here that the hvac program is a huge waist of money. I too was promised a better education by requesting more from the teacher and less from the book the so called deans mr. Ronugo and mrs Phillips said they would jump right on it to see that we get more or should i say SOME field experience and that they quote Had no idea the students in the hvac program were unhappy with the lack of training . Bet yet they failed to deliver on there promise to make the hvac program somewhat educational. Now its time to graduate and im stuck with 20k in loans with minimal hands on. I do work in the industry but i consider myself to be self tough. The advisors are the worst ones about making promises they cant keep they dont even have half of the materials the advisor claims. Its all lies since day one look into another school im sure anything is better then this school..

Faculty doesnt care about the students, just care about you showing up to school everyday so they can collect $$$$. HVAC program is so bad instructors leave halfway through. School wont put out the money to get supplies even though theyre collecting 20-30k from each of us lol. SAVE YOUR MONEY

I came to SJVC in May 2012 trying to figure out whether or not I should leave the university I had already started with to join this private college. I was very skepitcal at first but now that Im eight months in the CAMA program, I am very glad that I had enrolled.The Bakersfield Campus has wonderful instructors with each one having their own unique teaching methods.I learn so much from each instuctor that I have through out this course.Everyone in this campus is friendly.There is no need to feel intimidated or put down by anyone here.What I really like about being a SJVC Bakersfield Medical Assisting student is knowing that my instructors are all here to support there students. Everyone has their passion towards their field of study, and educates the class with their own knowledge that theyve gained in the work-field.I know that if I ever need anything, I can always talk to someone.I will be graduating this year in September.

If youre looking for a school that doesnt keep its promises, lies about giving you hands on experience, keeps you in the dark about everything they told you theyd help you with then gets mad when you ask for help. Then this is the place for you!!!! 9 months of school and didnt really learn anything, even the teachers get fed up and leave in the middle of class. Save your money go elsewhere.
