It has been a blessing to have attended this school for the last four years. The friendships that I have made truly will last a life time, and to be able to look back and see where Ive come since freshman year to now has been incredible. It will be sad when graduation rolls around in the beginning of June, but I know that MSJ has prepared me to succeed well in life through what Ive been taught, both with my fellow classmates and with my teachers.

Absolutely loved my 4 years at the Mount. My sons will be going there so they can experience what I did. Teachers are fantastic and you meet your best friends in life at MSJ. Go Gaels!

I loved MSJ! It would be an honor to send my sons to such an exemplary academic institution. Class 08

No place for hate? Thats rich. I was bullied the majority of my freshman year because the school does nothing to address immature behavior among underclassmen. It wasnt until I started cursing people out and threatening suicide that they started to pay attention. Now, my brother comes home every day and says someone new is picking on him and actually physically hurting him and it is infuriating that even though weve reported this behavior several times that these behaviors persist. Theyre so unpersonal and robotic, although their guise of kind and loving faith makes you think otherwise. My parents wasted their money sending us there.

I am a graduate of 2016, and this high school does what is says. It is a legitimate college prep school and enstills values taught very rarley anymore. My grandfather and his brothers went here and Im glad to say I did too. I have made life long friends and know what it means to be a mount man. I was fortunate to be enrolled in the DePaul Program which help people with learning differences succeed and learn to overcome their difficulties in any subject. Every teacher was more than willing to help in anyway they could and made it their goal to see you graduate. I even made friends with teachers who I felt a connection to and had many great experiences which I wouldnt trade for anything.

The last review I gave about MSJ wasnt fair & not the true aspect of the school. It was just my opinion on how I felt that day. Based on that day which was a very bad day I made that review. MSJ isnt a bad school, however small improvements will make it better.

I went to Mount Saint Joseph, and I can only pray that things have gotten better than they were when I went there. I understand this is a Catholic school but at the time I went there it felt like they were really coming down hard on the few amount of African American students that went there, which is weird coming from a school in the ghetto. Rules that you couldnt have your hair pass your collar, and other bull that take away individuality and allow the staff to easily nit-pick . In addition the staff really were not in tune with what goes on with students. The thing that makes me the most up-set about this school is my personal experience of being kicked out, over the summer, after my junior year, after receiving my class ring, and not being able to graduate. I fell into a deep depression after that day and its still something I havent recover from. The way they did it was to simply send a letter over the summer to my parents stating I couldnt come back, it wasnt for bad behavior either. To add insult to injury, they still have my picture posted up in their album, my little cousin ask me about that, and I had to explain. I hate you MSJ, I hope you close down for good, and soon!

MSJ Grad 2011. A five star review system isnt good enough because there are some good things and bad things that need to be considered.Pros:MSJ is a very competent school when it comes to academics and I had no problem adjusting to a college workload. The teachers are considerate and make the effort to show that they care about individual success. The athletics are very good and it shows with the addition of a new gymnasium. The school is also very tolerant of other religions and sexualities despite being a catholic school. You can truly tell that the teachers here are genuine.Cons:This isnt to say MSJ is perfect as it is far from perfect. The biggest problem I encountered during my time there (2007-2011) was that the upper management was for the most part completely disliked by the student body and any higher up administration that had a good reputation was swiftly removed from the school and or barred from promotion. Parents have too much control over the staff of the school which has resulted in quality staff being ran out. All it takes is couple complaints and the school forces the person to resign even if the complaints are ridiculous/irrelevant. I witnessed bullying being ignored and whenever the victim tried to do something he was either kicked out of the school or reprimanded in some way that let the Bully completely off the hook. Their guidance counseling services are mediocre at best and are completely untrained for an actual student emergency more often than not making the situation even worse than it already was. I remember an incident where a student was found out to have suicidal thoughts and the first action that the school took was essentially notifying the entire student body that the kid was suicidal and then proceeded to isolate him in an empty office room for hours with nobody to talk to, completely unacceptable. To add on top of this, the school forced the parents of the kid to leave work early to come to the school to be interrogated. They yelled and screamed at the parent forcing the mother to cry. They literally did everything you arent supposed to do in case of a suicidal student. The greatness of the MSJ Guidance Counseling Services can be shown once again on how they treat students with drug problems. This is incredibly low for a school that encourages Christian values as they tell students that its ok to come to the guidance office for drug related problems, but as soon as you admit to having a problem they immediately kick you out of the school. It is very apperant that MSJ is more interested in maintaining their reputation than the actual well being of the student body. This goes back to the terrible management/administration the school provides.Overall, MSJ is an overpriced school that is absolutely mediocre in every category. Yes the teachers and academics are good, but that is only one part of what a High School offers. Id advise just going to a public school. The same idiots that would flunk out of school in a public school would flunk out just as much as in MSJ. It just so happens that more intelligent and motivated people gravitate towards MSJ. This gives the impression that MSJ increases the success of a student that would otherwise fail in a public school when in fact the reason why MSJ has so many successful students is because successful people like to surround themselves with other motivated and successful people and MSJ offers a place for this to happen. Idiots will still fail and nerds will still go to college. The only difference is the failers have to wear a buttoned down shirt and tie. This skews the data since the same people that succeeded at MSJ would have equally succeeded at a regular public school.I understand this isnt a very nice review, but this is what I was shown.I dont advise donating to the school until significant management changes are made and I think everybody from my class era knows what Im talking about.

I was a MSJ student, 2008 graduate. Theres not enough space for me to write all the great things about this school. So, Ill try my best to sum up the defining characteristics of Mt St Joe.Academics: The teachers are more than qualified and they all have their own unique teaching styles. The advanced placement and honors classes are phenomenal (Chem AP students got all 5s on the AP test!). My strong suites are in the sciences and I was more than prepared by MSJ for college; currently a math and engineering major at VT.Religion: MSJ is very tolerant to your religion and beliefs. You must go to religion class, but absolutely nothing is forced/pushed upon you. However, MSJ is an incredible source to strengthen and build your own beliefs. MSJ also helps to shape and reveal who you are.Student body: I personally am terrible with names, and by the end of senior year I knew every single persons name in my grade. I saw my classmates as brothers, and I was always treated like one. Yes, there was a certain bit of segregation between cultures my freshmen year. For ex, (like the misinformed and ignorant reviewer stated previously) there was a Little Africa table in the cafeteria. Going in to high school is intimidating enough, assimilating with common culture is what is most comfortable for a 14 year old to do. But, by the end of senior year, our tables were completely integrated. No lines were drawn, no prejudices to be had. I made the best friends of my life at St Joe. And to this day we are all just as close.MSJ is a large part of who I am today, and I wouldnt trade my experiences at that school for anything. I am proud to be a Mount Man.
