When Penobscot Christian School opened on French St. in 1980, I was a fifth grader enrolled in it. I had a good experience there as a student. My father served on the board of directors, and my mother was a teacher, and she was also part-time headmaster for a year or two. In 2000, I became headmaster and a part-time teacher at PCS. By the time I left at the end of 2010, it was clear my greater skills were in teaching. PCS is not a perfect school, but it is (and always has been) in the hands of a perfect God, who guides and directs her through the years to provide the children of Christian parents the opportunity to receive a good education. Mercifully, PCS survived me, and has survived all whove worked there and been part of the Association of parents, professionals, and volunteers that have come and gone through more than 40 years of parent-sponsored Christian education that is Penobscot Christian School. I recommend you take a good look at PCS if you want a solid, college preparatory education for your child, but be forewarned: This is not a place where you can drop off your child and pick him/her up and thats all you do! No, you must be ready to be involved, whether its serving in the Parent-Teacher Fellowship, as a volunteer in various activities, fundraising, promoting the school in your church, serving a term on the school board, or more, PCS is a family of like-minded believers, and everyone must lift and carry together!
