My daughter has trained with coach Mike for years. As a parent it is hard to find someone you trust , with your child. Coach Mike along with all his staff and students are that and more, everyone is supportive and helpful. Coach Mike installs his values onto his students which is everyone is treated equally no matter the belt color. They are all a team / family and it shows. Thanks for the wonderful person you are.

EGA is one of the most professional and welcoming grappling schools I have ever trained at. I was traveling for work and was fortunate enough to make contact with the owner who let me train there. Before class the owner gave a speech about how welcoming the gym is and numerous students came over to introduce themselves to me. The training was outstanding. I was out into warm-ups, drills, situational sparring, and at all times admired just how clean the facilities were. If you are interested in grappling or already grappling and are considering switching gyms, I would 10/10 recommend EGA. If you put in the work, the community will accept you with open arms!

I train jujitsu and i go there for quite a while. The coaches/teachers espcially Mike are wonderful to learn from and the people are friendly. Its very well recommend to people to join for self defense, help calm your mind, and lose weight. Its also great for kids to extra curriculum activities. Excellent-all around.

Started coming here about 4 months ago. I practiced BJJ a long time ago. This place is top of the line. I have evolved more in the last 4 months than I was expecting to learn in a year. There are so many class options. From 5:30am to evening classes, all throughout the week. Some for advanced. Some just for fundamentals. These guys really know how to teach people practical self defense that you actually retain from class to class. No matter the level of knowledge, each instructor(and student) has been there to pass on what they’ve learned. The culture of the gym seems to be that everyone is helping each other evolve. These are nice people. A mix of guys and girls. Younger and older. Bigger and smaller. It’s a great environment to learn a martial art. I can’t wait for my daughter to be old enough to join, because I’ll be signing her up right away. I would recommend EGA to anyone who asked.

Love it here. As a newer white belt, the learning environment has been free from judgement and theres very little ego in the gym, making it easy to learn from everyone.

Although I am a new student , my children are not. My experience with EGA goes back many years. Jiu jitsu is hard , yes , but the amount of patience , compassion and time your teamates and coaches put into you is amazingly impressive. Your teamates become family and the culture of that dogo is that we all make each other better , we all raise each other up , and its true! 100 % . There were literally moments...and I say moments because within seconds of me expressing my frustration (for example understanding techniques) there was ALWAYS a higher belt there to reassure you , share stories of their time as a white belt..and take the time to help you so you didnt feel lost anymore. I go 4-5days a week and would not trade my experience or the friends made for anything. The coaches and team invest so much effort in you it makes you realize in a world where we live mainly self serving...there are people out there who enjoy giving back and helping others..it makes you want to go and do the same ...even if its not in the dogo.

Becareful if you come to this gym......you wont want to leave and youll spend 5 days a week there. Mike is constantly learning new techniques and invests alot into each individual. Theres a great vibe at this gym and it makes working out fun!

My two children and I have been training at Evolution since March. The facility is immaculate, mats always clean, men’s and woman’s locker rooms, showers, waiting area for guests, and even a designated area to work out before or after class. Every person that is part of this facility truly cares about the well being of everyone involved. Mike treats every person that walks through his door like a guest in his home, and his passion for teaching is evident with every detailed explanation. It’s such a rarity that someone with the knowledge and skills that he has acts so humble. He is appreciative of every member of his tribe, and the positive energy he brings each and every day makes every class enjoyable. It’s become my home away from home.

Coach Mike is amazing, I did a few women’s fitness classes with him and I walked outfeeling like a million bucks, he also did a a women’s self defense class that I attended free of charge he does a lot for the community.He’s got an amazing staff that’s very knowledgeable about what they are doing and the gym is always clean. I have been a student at this academy for 2+ years under Mike Palladino. I cant say enough good things about the way he is towards his students. He is always right there to assist with a technique if someone doesnt quite get it right away and he is always very thorough on every technique he shows. The environment in that gym is something you have to experience for yourself...all the students are friendly and all the instructors are highly qualified. If youre in the Hudson Valley area and are looking for a place to train martial arts, this place is simply the best around.

Started bjj at Evolution a few weeks ago with no experience and have had a very positive experience. Everyone from the instructors to students are great. The whole school is welcoming and supportive. There are plenty of classes and open mat time. The school was what I was looking for as a beginner, but there are many higher level students as well.

Excellent. Childrens classes that ranges with kids ages 3-5 and then other classes for older children. My 4yr old son loves it so much. All the coaches are excellent with the children. Very spacious, Coach Mike is setting an excellent standard for the bjj community with this facility.

You cannot find a more passionate, motivated, and gifted teacher than Mike Palladino. I was fortunate to discover his school from a close friend of mine that started training there. I have since grown exponentially in terms of my knowledge of martial arts, but also in many of other ways that also directly impact my overall quality of life. I really enjoy EGAs approach to instructing students of all levels. Mike has an amazing way of breaking down and simplifying the instruction of technique. I have been training at EGA for three years. The facility is top notch; it’s clean and has lots of space to train. The only thing that tops the facility is the staff, lead by Mike Paladino. Mike is an incredible instructor who has an impressive resume in the art of grappling. With that said, what makes Mike a great instructor isn’t his pedigree, but how he treats people. Ive trained at exactly 4 different gyms including my home gym EGA. I only trained at those other gyms because I was away and was in desperate need of jiu jitsu. This gym is my favorite place to be. I spent A LOT of time there. The teachers and instructor are very knowledgeable. Their communication and break downs of technique and moves is some of the best I have ever seen. Taking into account I’ve been a life long martial artists so I’ve been around the block. They offer training for both the competitive athletes as well as the daily hobbiests. On top of all that they have one of the best children’s Jiu jitsu programs. Offering 4 different classes for kids! They have classes ranging from a tiny ninjas class for children ages 3 to 5 to classes all the way up to teens BJJ. As an overweight, out of place whitebelt, Mike gave me so much of his time to help me develop. Eight years later, I still train Jiu Jitsu. Ive been training at EGA off and on for the past 2-3 years, after having trained for a similar length of time at several other gyms around the country. I dont know anything about the kids class or the striking classes; my review is only on the adult grappling classes, which are each offered in gi and no-gi flavors.In Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a basic wrestling mat and another warm body is the minimum requirement to get in a decent grappling session and to get the endorphins going - and at many gyms, that is about all you get. At EGA, however, the mat is seriously gigantic, your training partners are friendly, the coaches are knowledgeable, and importantly, they are able to convey that knowledge to students of all experience levels. Mikes passion for the sport comes through in his teaching, and his frequent use of analogies makes the key details stick.Your training partners will span the full spectrum -- from couch potato newbies to veteran mixed-martial-artists. Mike will recognize when an individual is doing a move slightly wrong and is always able to correct it on the spot. Mike is also good about pairing up partners appropriately based on their size and experience. The gym strikes just the right balance -- a safe environment with a very casual atmosphere. Theres a lounge area, male and female locker rooms with separate showers, and a big parking lot.Mike rolls almost every class, and rolls with everyone. Some elite grapplers have a narrow game, but Mike is a subject matter expert in all aspects of grappling. Advanced grapplers will find that Mike has a worldclass no-gi game, which is fast-paced, but adaptable to any body type. I absolutely love Evolution Grappling Academy. As a woman trying to find a place to train martial arts can be intimidating. Since my very first class with coach Mike Palladino I knew this was the gym for me. Walking into a new gym full of strangers can be intimidating but everyone who trains here is kind and welcoming. The entire community of EGA is there to support you and help you reach your fullest potential. Within the first five months of training here I went from being completed incapable of defending myself and barely understanding or retaining the information taught in the lessons to winning my first competition with three gold medals. Being a female, I was very nervous to start training in a mostly male dominated sport but from day 1 everyone was very welcoming and eager to help me on my journey. I have been training jiu jitsu and mma for a year and I absolutely love this place.My confidence has skyrocketed and I have made life long friends. Mike is an amazing coach who still actively competes so I know that I am getting the most up to date techniques available in the ever changing world of grappling and mma.So if you are looking for a place to train or just get in shape, this is it. There is no better place in the area to train Jiu Jitsu. EGA is a great school run by a passionate coach. Ive been training martial arts for most of my life and EGA is, by far, the best place Ive ever trained. The new Beacon location is great. Tons of unobstructed mat space that is ALWAYS spotless and really convenient parking adjacent to the facility. The atmosphere at EGA is high energy and always welcoming to newcomers and experienced grapplers alike. Do yourself a favor and check out a class. You wont regret it.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience at EGA. Having trained at other gyms in various martial arts Ive never come across a coach with Mikes enthusiasm and talent. Ive been a student under Mike for almost a year now and he has helped me improve leaps and bounds as a Jiu Jitsu practitioner. One of my favorite aspects of the Evolution Grappling Academy is the environment. Surrounded by a solid core of people, the vibe and energy is without a doubt the best around. We train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Russian Sambo, Wrestling, Combat Grappling, Kick-boxing, Boxing and MMA. If you are looking to evolve your grappling skills and yourself as a person, this is hands down the place to be. I started training at Evolution Grappling Academy 7 months ago, with-in those 7 months I have lost 20 pounds, met great individuals and friends.Coach Mike is not only a coach, he also is a competitor. He knows how to explain the fundamentals of grappling for anyones understanding and push anyone to demand a better effort for yourself. The best part of this gym is, it truly inspires me to be better at all aspects of life, not just grappling.

Mike Palladino is an excellent martial arts instructor, focusing on Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Submission Wrestling, and Sambo. The gym is very clran, fully stocked with all the equipment you could ask for, as well as refreshments. EGA has a great atmosphere and is the best martial arts school Ive attended in my 27 years. I started my jiu-jitsu journey two years ago with EGA. Jiu-jitsu has given me a priceless source of self-confidence. I have been training at Evolution Grappling Academy for two years now, after having trained in several other jiu jitsu schools. Head coach Mike Palladino, a brown belt under Soul Fighters co-founder Rafael Formiga Barbosa, is one of the most knowledgable, enthusiastic, passionate, and attentive jiu jitsu instructors I have ever had the pleasure of training under. He is constantly working with each individual student to help them grow their jiu jitsu, working with their strengths and weaknesses and each individuals body type to tailor a game that will work for them specifically. It works for me....I am a two time No Gi Pan American gold medalist in my division, and I took silver in the absolute (open weight) division at the IBJJF NY Open last year, among many medals at smaller tournaments. We have a healthy mix of competitors and hobbyists ranging from novices to experienced brown belts, and ranging in age from 16 - 54 in the adult classes. Evolution is also growing its childrens program, and the results are impressive! Its very much a tribe, a welcoming family environment where students and instructors both collaborate to train hard and help each other get better. Additionally, Mike often brings in other highly accomplished instructors to cross train in other arts such as Sambo or wrestling. All in all, Evolution Grappling Academy is hands down the best Brazilian jiu jitsu academy in the Hudson Valley.

I have been training at EGA for about two years now and I would highly recommend attending this school. The new Beacon location has provided Coach Mike with the opportunity to expand his class schedule and student base. He offers excellent beginner Gi and No Gi classes, as well as advanced Gi and No Gi classes and open mats. His coaching style is inspiring as he spends time making sure everyone understands the mechanics of each position or move and ensures all questions are answered. He is very knowledgeable and his love of the art shows in everything he does. He competes regularly at a high level and those of his students who compete in his gym regularly bring home medals and honors. He is also developing a reputation for bringing in some of the best quality talent around to teach advanced jiu jitsu moves, leg locks, wrestling, Sambo, and other grappling related arts and moves.
