This is the school I have always wished for my kids and I’m so thankful we found it. They value real discussion and real thinking in the classroom (at every age level), and the small class sizes allow for this. I am amazed at what my third grader has learned about logic, history, grammar, the arts; she reads serious literature and can speak intelligently about it. This is not a test mill like so many schools have become. They are getting a rich education and are developing in mind and character.

We came to St. Stephens Academy 10 years ago to find an academically challenging environment for our Kindergartner. We found not only an environment with high academic standards, but also a loving and supportive community. We now have 3 kids attending, ranging in grades 2 through 9. This school teaches our children how to think, reason, and respectfully communicate. We have watched the school grow and develop over the past 10 years, but it has not lost the qualities that drew us here in the first place. I know my children will be ready for whatever future education and life has for them.

I had a strong idea of what I was looking for in a school for my children, and St. Stephen’s Academy is better than that! I wanted a school that taught reading and writing and math through the traditional methods I grew up with, and that’s when I stumbled upon Classical Christian Education. I love that there is an equal commitment to both “book smarts” and biblical moral character development. St. Stephen’s Academy is a school that develops students that know how to think as opposed to other systems of education that teach what to think. The only problem I foresee is that day when my kids will come home smarter than me. 😂 Truly, I’m looking forward to it!

Our family has been at St. Stephens for 9 years and I am so glad that we found this gem. It has been a learning experience for me, realizing the difference and value of a classical education. This way of teaching is giving my children the immense gift of learning to think critically in all areas of their lives. My 15 year old thinks more clearly than most adults and credits her education at SSA. She has long-standing and great relationships with her teachers. Every time one of my kids gets a new teacher, I am surprised by how exceptional they are. How great to have a 5 star teacher every year!

We chose St. Stephens Classical Christian Academy due to its small class sizes, its commitment to teaching our children a Biblical worldview and the staffs focus on character development. Part of St. Stephens classical education includes weekly art and music instruction which our girls really enjoy. We highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a Christ-centered loving environment for their children.

We currently have 2 boys enrolled at St Stephens Academy. We feel so fortunate to have them at this incredible school. The class sizes are just the right size and the students get the one-on-one attention they need and deserve. Our children have Art, Latin, Science, Library, P.E., Religion, and Music classes in addition to the normal academic requirements. It is a bargain for the price of tuition compared to other private schools in the area. The teachers, staff and headmaster are genuinely concerned in the success and growth of each and every child. We feel that everything we teach our children at home about social responsibility, kindness towards others, and good manners is reinforced at this school. I highly recommend this school for those who want a Christian upbringing for their Children.

We came to St Stephens with the sure thought that private Christian education was out of reach for us financially. We came away amazed with the cost of a school and community that has proved immeasurably enriching both to our children and our family. Our children think and reason better then many high school children we know and their breadth of knowledge at a young age is a joy to behold. More then anything else however is their continual immersion in the Word of God. From the start with memorizing the books of the Bible to their understanding of deeper meaning in the stories themselves they are being given a level of understanding of the Bible usually reserved for higher education. To see it being done in a loving Christian community is just the icing on the cake. We cannot promise you will love it here, but we have and think you will too given the chance.

Our children are thriving and remarkably engaged at St. Stephen’s Academy. The administration and staff are professional and diligent in their work, gifted in teaching and love their students well. This is a school that regards high quality, purposeful curriculum with a knowledge of God at it’s core. While our children are away from us, we know that they are being challenged to be thinkers and that their character is being cultivated. They are encouraged to think well, read well, speak well and write well.We have every hope that in partnership with a school like St. Stephen’s, our children will be prepared intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and relationally for what God has for them beyond our home and school.

We have enjoyed having our daughter in preschool this year at St. Stephens. The days and hours are very convenient, and I love that drop off and pick up can happen from your car. She loves the songs and art projects. The teacher is amazing and shows so much love to her and our family. She is getting a good introduction to numbers, letters, shapes, and colors along with good, Christian values. We have been very pleased.

We LOVE St. Stephens academy. We frankly stumbled on them when moving up from the SF Bay Area but couldnt be more pleased with our decision. Our children are in the grammar school (currently 1st and 4th grades). Weve been so impressed by the level of education and for such a value! We have found private school to be attainable financially. Our children are learning things we remember learning 2-3 grade levels later as children. And yet, it is not high pressure or competitive. Instead it is a warm, encouraging and faithful community with high expectations and a supportive teaching staff.

From the warm welcome at the beginning, to the heart of the teachers and staff to truly know each of their students needs, to the high standards of the academics and instruction, to the culture of excellence and godly consideration that produces self-governing students, St Stephens has exceeded our expectations in every way. Truly, our family has been blessed in countless ways by the St Stephens community. What a stunning example of Christian community, grace and truth, wisdom, and professionalism we have experienced through our interactions with the staff! We appreciate the emphasis on decorum and inner character over image, and see the character of the faculty and administration shine through in everything they do! What a breath of fresh air in the private school arena St Stephens is!

Initially, we chose this school because it was within walking distance. Our child is in Kindergarten and has really blossomed this year. I have been completely overwhelmed by the quality of this school. Not only are the teachers exceptional, but they genuinely care about your childs success, and you can tell that they love God. The environment is structured, caring, and they make learning really fun. I especially like the ability to volunteer, it feels like a family where everyone pitches in. I would highly recommend this school to anyone.

Its a great school with a wonderful christian, classical curriculum. My kids wake up almost every morning happy to go to school. They come telling me about what they learned. From how bridges are built and physical fitness classes to Latin. It always amazes me how much they learn. On top of that the curriculum is strictly christian and seeing my children grow in their love for Jesus is something I cant even begin to describe how much joy that bring me.

This school is Amazing! We were having difficulty with our son enjoying his old school, so we moved him half way through his kindergarten year. He loves this school. The atmosphere is welcoming, class sizes are small, and I think the kids all feel like they are part of the St. Stephens family. Uniforms are strict, however I think this is comforting to the kids because there are no arguments over who is wearing what shirt, etc.. The teachers all seem to be invested in the kids, and challenge them to do their best. I am amazed at what they do in class, as well as music, and Art. The art teacher is wonderful. My 1st grader comes home with pieces that I dont even think I could do. :) We are so grateful that we found this school, and that our child is happy and excited to go to school each day.

Were so thankful for this school!! Our daughter started part-way through the first term last fall. and was so warmly welcomed into her class. We especially appreciate that she is receiving an academically rigorous education in a small, grace-filled school environment; that St. Stephens engages the whole student, purposefully pursuing character development; that teaching flows from a Christ-centered worldview; and that school community is filled with teachers, staff and families who are dedicated to this classical and Christian education. Were so very glad to be part of St. Stephens!

My first grader asked me to go to the library with him to check out the Odyssey ; I thought to myself... surely not THAT one? Yes, it was Homers Odyssey..they had been reading it in class together and he wanted to read it at home on his own. That speaks volumes about the caliber of this school, starting with first grade!! Very fortunate and happy to be at St. Stephens!

Our kids have attended St. Stephen’s Academy since 2014. The teachers are dedicated and passionate. St. Stephen’s Academy focuses not only on academics but the child as a whole. I appreciate the integration of faith with academics. It isn’t just a school… St. Stephen’s Academy is family. I take great delight in the friendships our family have made with others. I look forward to the continued friendships with my kids and their classmates in the years to come. Furthermore, I love the diversity of the school which is a true image of heaven.

I moved my son to St. Stephens from highly regarded public school district, and there is no comparison. The attention he receives from his teacher is beyond my expectation. At our local public school, my concerns were dismissed by the teacher. I was concern that my son, who was in the 1st grade at the time, had very poor penmanship. Couldnt read a word he was writing, his teachers response, hell be typing soon anyways. Not a way to address a parents only concern. At St. Stephens his work was required to be neat and legible. His teacher (not me) was on his case. I did not get a sense that the teacher just wanted the child to get through the school year. Our 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Alsop wanted him to excel, and challenged him if his work was too easy. There were challenged words for spell and harder math. There is a lot of religious education, but that is expected since this is a religious school. There is a network of involved parents who want the school to do well. Very happy with our experience thus far.

I toured and interviewed several private schools in the area before looking into St. Stephens Academy. There was a clear and obvious difference when I first walked into SSA. Its been a full year of my three children attending SSA (7th, 4th, 2nd) now. My belief has only solidified all the more there can indeed be one place where academic education, character development, extracurricular activities, language, music, arts community and so much more can all come together to propel my children forward to be the greatest version of themselves.

Updated April 2021:Google says my review here is getting a lot of attention, so let me expand on it. I graduated from SSA in 2016, one of a class of four. It was an unforgettable experience that will stay with me as long as I live, like so many other moments during my time here. The students and faculty at St Stephens were a second family to me. Since leaving, I have never again been able to find such a warm, close, godly community to belong to as I had at SSA. I still miss it and cherish the memories. In addition to the emotional and spiritual support, the education I received here was life-changing. Learning about the world through the lens of the Bible and history gave me a unique perspective. I can defend my arguments eloquently and solidly. I can understand the arguments of others, and I can discern the underlying assumptions and fallacies behind most of them. Most importantly, I know why I believe in Christ Jesus and can answer any challenge to my faith, whether internal or external. I credit the training I received at SSA for this directly and am eternally grateful for it. I am constantly reminded of it in my day to day life.I dont know where Id be today without them. I dont know that Id even still be in the faith. Glory and praise be to God for the work hes doing here.To curious parents Id say this: go and talk to the teachers. Sit in on a class or two (if they still allow that). Most importantly, talk to the students, especially in the high school. Test them and see what theyve learned. Go to Monday morning assembly and see a presentation. To current students: sometimes it doesnt make a whole lot of sense, and it feels frustrating. You feel like youre not learning anything useful and youd be happier at a public school. However, I would strongly encourage you to bear with it and persevere. SSA is not about teaching you useful information (although you do get plenty of that, even when it isnt as obvious); its about teaching you how to be a human being, and how to think for yourself. Thats something you cant learn just anywhere and if you have the opportunity, treasure it.
