Since we never got to take a class this rating is based on their awful business practices. We signed my daughter up for a class in the summer. The class was canceled due to lack of students which was disappointing but understandable. The bad part is that they cancelled the class by email 10 minutes before it was supposed to start. In addition, we had tried to contact them numerous times by phone and email in the 3 weeks before the class began. No one returned our calls or emails.

Pretty good school, but lack of decency during COVID, in my opinion. I paid for the entire semester before COVID started (important note - paying for 10 or so classes gave me no discount per class, might as well have been paying per visit, but decided to save some time). When COVID hit and they closed they understandably were in a tough place, so instead of asking for a refund I asked if I can use those money I paid to visit classes at a later time when they reopen, and they said no. I do not think it was a nice thing to do, basically I had like 6 paid classes left and they were not going to honor that in any whay. I decided to switch to a different dance school because of this situation. I think there couldve been a compromise found, like them offering those money as a credit towards private online classes or something along those lines, but that obviously didnt happen.

My daughter and I both have taken dance class at Houston City Dance and enjoyed it immensely. The teachers and owner are very knowledgeable and friendly. Their new location is very nice and convenient. Highly recommend Houston City Dance!

I enrolled my 4 year old daughter in classes here and they are great. We will be taking many more. The owner is lovely and so are all the instructors.

My experience was less than pleasant. It was dark in the lobby - the lights were off and there was a tiny lamp on. Then the owner comes out and is just rude. She states that she doesn’t know who my daughter is because it’s “not her class” when I asked a question about recital. Unacceptable. I have 18 years of dance experience and I know what a studio should feel like and this was not a welcoming place in my opinion.

If you are looking to really improve as a dancer, you have to come by Houston City Dance. The classes are small and intimate enough to give each student attention and all the instructors actually care about teaching you. They will correct you and make sure you are developing your skills, unlike other places that just fill up a room and let you make mistakes.Whether you are bringing your little ones or you are an adult wanting to take classes, this place is a great studio. The other dancers are so nice and the instructors are welcoming. Definitely take a class!

I like their ability to combine several dance styles in their dance shows and training. Mixing modern with traditional with an urban twist makes for an exciting show and keeps the dancers engaged, motivated and wanting more. If any dancer wants a track to the pros, this place is it. And of course, if you just want to enjoy yourself with an inspiring family, this is a great place to grow in.

Sherese has an amazing group of dancers and teachers. Watching the Urban Ballet performance was exciting. It made me want to get up and dance. It was very inspiring to myself and my son, who is now interested in the process of putting a dance together. I would highly recommend watching them when you get the opportunity or trying a class.

This dance studio is a treasure, the real deal. Go to other dance schools to dance around, but Houston City Dance is where dancers are MADE. My young daughter danced at The Met for 3 years and she was getting bored. I looked around for an alternative school and Im so thrilled that I found this studio. There is so much creativity, art, and passion happening here; the instruction is top notch and challenging. I am so impressed with the progress my daughter has made as a dancer and it has been exciting to see the growth of the other dance students, too. Many kudos to founder Sherese Campbell and her wonderful team for their hard work and dedication!

I started dance classes here last fall. I was initially a bit concerned because Im one of the much older adult students and had not taken dance classes since I was in grade school in the 1950s. Sherese, the owner, was very welcoming and made me feel like my age was not going to be an issue - and it hasnt been! Ive been taking the Diva Jazz class from Stephanie Sermas and its the one evening that I look forward to every week. The classes are small and the instruction is incredible! I cannot recommend City Dance Studio highly enough.

Great director. She cares for and invests in the dancers vs just trying to collect a paycheck. She pays for them to travel to NYC for larger opportunities and really molds them as people in addition to their craft. This is the type of studio youd want your child to enroll in. Its about the performance but also about the person. Rare.
