I am a two year student here at Seattle Shaolin Kungfu Academy. I have had a wonderful experience in the two years that I have been here. I made many friends that are able to support and encourage me along the way of practising Kungfu. Shifu was always patient toward me and everyone, he would go through the same moves and show you your mistakes over and over or if you had forgotten a part. The staff was always friendly and considerate to me, always reminding me if I had forgot something. Other students at the academy are nice and welcoming towards everyone, they will teach you parts that you dont understand and cheer you up when you doubt yourself. Throughout the two years at the academy I have gained more confidence, patience, willpower, and strength. I would definently recommend SSKA to everyone, Im sure you will love it if you try it out.

We had a great experience celebrating 8th Birthday for my daughters in Kungfu Academy. We are not taking classes there, but my daughters love martial arts and we will for sure use their generous gift of one month unlimited lessons. I was very pleasantly impressed with kindness, readiness for help and very warm attitude to both kids and adult guests. The kids had a blast practicing kungfu (almost everybody without any previous experience). I bought foam nunchacks as a party favor and they studied how to use them. Fathers stayed in a quiet tea room enjoying authentic green tea. We also had a mini lesson of self-defence for adults. For me and my friends it was very unique Birthday celebration experience. Highly recommend this place for kids Birthday celebration.

My son Alex M. been a student for almost a year now. We are so very lucky to have Master Zhou here in the Seattle area Master Zhou quickly rose to the top and received the honor to be accepted by the Shaolin Temple Abbot as his student. I believe he is one of the very few to teach Shaolin Kung Fu full time for number of the years, this is what he does for a living not a part time or side job when he is not in class he is giving private lessons. Hardest working man I know. Good character and integrity, nice guy great role model for your kids and the adults will defiantly be impressed with his presence and influenced by his teaching. When you meet him, keep in mind that is hard to for someone like him to give you his background and history and not have it sound like he is bragging, he is not, he is a very humble man. However, Master Zhou is a former warrior monk from the renowned Shaolin Temple in the Henan province. We have a great Shaolin Kung Fu school, lots of friendly people with NO EGOS ! Students at all stages of learning the art, so no matter where you are you will have some folks at your level and beyond to share and learn from.Since Master Zhou teaches every class (kids, adults and private lessons) your learning from him with him directly and the others in class will help you along too so your never stuck waiting for a how-to answer. One thing that is unique about Master Zhou is that he will start you working on the very basics, but will also give you the tools to get yourself out of a jam very quickly. If you started Shaolin Kung Fu and did all the learning in the traditional order you might find your self doing forms for 6 months before you learned to apply any of it, not the case here. You will do traditional learning but you will also learn enough in the first few days of class to hurt an attacker enough to escape (and come to class to learn more). Some of law enforcement had been in class and found their self applying a very simple technique they had just learned the day before in the field, if they had just been doing forms that day may have turned out very different. Not saying you going to be Bruce Lee after a day....or have perfect form on your technique, but you will have some tools you can apply that you did not have when you walked in the door two hours ago......If you have ever thought about learning a martial art, treat yourself to the very rare opportunity to learn it from a true grandmaster, not some guy who watched a few DVDs and opened a school. Added note, be careful as you look online there is a LOT of hype out there from people claiming a lot. There are very few true grand masters, we are very lucky to have one of them here in Seattle area

It seems all educational once you start, but as you go up I dont recall him ever teaching you how to fight. All he does is make you do forms, but there were no fighting practices or anything where you can actually practice self defense which I find to be a bit strange and disappointing.

The shaolin kungfu academy is great. The students are friendly and playful, and the master Lei Zhou is great at teaching. You can get a free trial for your first time! It has a lot of excitement during the classes and you get to level up with different belts and forms! The master came originally from China and he trained students in San Francisco before he came to Seattle. Overall, the work he does is excellent for me. It has taught me about strength and skill. You also get to meet different people. If you want a black belt, try this place!
