I first heard of PACIFIC INSURANCE GROUP from listening to the radio during commute time. I didnt pay much attention until I got a notification from my former Life Insurance company that my VUL policy was going to go into default unless I started paying a LOT more per month. I first called Carter Gray, but then started the online research, as most of us are compelled to do. While doing that I remembered another company that I had heard about on the radio. I checked with them and they took some basic health information from me. I am 66 and have used a CPAP machine for 4 or 5 years, missing only ONE day in all that time. I travel with it, go camping with it, etc. I dont drink, smoke, sky dive, or race motorcycles, but that company would only give me a standard non-tobacco rating because I use a CPAP. According to articles that that I have read, there are about 20 MILLION people with un-diagnosed sleep-apnea. I asked the agent why they would insure me at a better rating if I were un-diagnosed, then they will if I am diagnosed and treating the problem. I asked her if could call the insurer and take up my question with them. She said NO. That was the last time I spoke with her, or them. I called Carter back and told him the story that you just read, and today I have a policy in force at a select preferred rating, allowing me to purchase more insurance for the same money.
