Bellevue College has been an extraordinary ride! I prescribe this school to any individual who would not like to simply burn through their time and cash. Exceptionally overall quite accommodating consultants in global office made my entire school experience stunning!! To come to BC has been probably the best choice I have made in my schooling vocation up to this point. I just handled an incredible OPT temporary position that I was unable to try and dream around a couple of years prior!

---Love this college!!---Very good design program and amazing internship after all the trouble I went at another small school.Initially I started at Art Institute of Seattle but they accepted me without asking for any essay or portfolio which was already unusual. Then advisors started disappearing from the office until school announced that closing permanently in the middle of the quarter. I was terrified to lose my F1 Visa status. Last person left in International Office told me to leave the country within 14 days if I cant get enroll in another college. I couldnt believe it was happening for real in the US. But Bellevue College saved me. They accepted me in a few days and transferred all my immigration records within grace period. I was able to get an amazing internship this summer and company just offered me a permanent job. Forever grateful to my advisors and great professors!

I encouraged my daughter to take classes, but was very disappointed in the course offerings. While we all understand that the pandemic means no in classroom teaching, charging full price for a course that has no instructor is not a class. A reading list with online tests is not college. Students would be better served watching youtube videos on subjects theyre interested in than paying Bellevue college for this abomination of the higher educational system. We owe it to our youth to offer real higher education, with instructors and student interaction. Bellevue College is self serving in taking students money and offering next to nothing in return.

This review is specifically for the Finance and Enrollment Services departments. Simply put, they are just failing in their job. Bellevue College offices have been closed for over a year and these two departments have not found a way to do their jobs remotely yet and are still closed. College students are left hanging, emails not returned, phone calls not returned, issues not resolved, 529 payments not processed etc. Students are wrongfully being dropped from classes because these two departments are not doing their job and communicating. Absolutely impossible trying to contact anybody at Bellevue College in the last year! Even in a normal year trying to contact the college is limited to impersonal and terrible online portals instead of email/phone numbers. Update: 4/14/2021: This is an updated review based on follow up received from Bellevue College. I took this issue all the way to the Bellevue College President, Gary Locke. I was impressed that he called me twice, once to get information on the problem and once to follow up on the status of resolving it. I was also impressed with the head of the Finance Department, Jen C., who without hesitation owned this problem. Jen admitted this is a problem at Bellevue College and they are trying to fix it. I am still upset that after a year of not manning their offices properly they have not figured out how to fix this issue through remote work or started manning their offices again to support the students. Because the President of the college personally called me and the head of Finance Department owned this problem immediately, I am upping my review to 3 stars instead of one.

If there was a no star option I would have done that. The school will not accept responsibility for their actions and chooses to point the finger at the student. Some staff want to help but are not in the position to do so and get silenced because of it. Others that are in a position of power abuse their power. Not a healthy environment. Otherwise classes are alright and most instructors are good but there is a good amount of instructors and staff who should be fired.

Run. Go anywhere else. Bellevue College is not prepared to teach online, but they are prepared to take your money, and tell you that you should have known better when you complain about their low quality education and professional apathy. Its all branding and no real meat. Ask the average instructor when the last time they were reviewed was. Look up their student complaint process? Difficult, right? Thats intentional. They dont care about providing quality education, because if you fail a class needed for one of their highly select majors, they just make more money when you have to take it again. The staff administration culture problem is bad enough that it interferes with the educational experience. The department heads are beyond reach and, in my experience, the gatekeepers in the department offices aggressively keep it that way. I captured my Anatomy instructor being passive aggressive, rude to students, giving his work 0 effort. The science department did more to try to suppress my claim then improve the situation. They also wouldnt let me record my Zoom call.. which was weird.Bellevue pays instructors more than other area community colleges, but doesnt really care if they are actually effective at teaching. Also, their Continuing Education is a literal scam. Recruiters literally laugh at it.

The AA degree I got here was totally useless for the working world. This was in 2006. It only gave me a job working in a grocery store as a janitor. Thanks. Currents students please do not get any thing less than a bachelor degree. It will open up a whole new door of jobs for you and will give you jobs you can actually retire form.I am working towards another AA degree which will be transferred out to a better college where my degree will grantee me more life skills. I wish they would offer more bachelor degrees other than computer science and health care.I do not wish to take out loans and be in debt. I will slowly pay for my own education and finish debt free even if it means Im not finished with school until my late 40s. (6-10 years of schooling. 2 classes a quarter.)

I cannot recommend Bellevue Colleges continuing education program. The primary issue is a refund policy that is unusually strict compared to other community colleges and universities. The current refund policy requires that you withdraw from the course three business days prior to the start of the course. This means that you have no way to evaluate if a course fits your expectations or learning goals. This is especially problematic when these courses range from 200-1200 dollars each.We reached out to their support for consideration of granting a refund after one class session revealed that the course content was not in line with our goals. We were denied.Prospective students: please consider other education resources that have more understanding refund policies.Bellevue College: please adjust your policy to demonstrate that you value your customers and to provide a service that compares to other continuing education programs.A rigid policy like yours discourages students from exploring new subjects and fields and limits the audiences of your educators. In an age where online resources are increasingly available and affordable, you are failing to compete or offer a valuable service.

As a tax payer, you should wonder why there is no one with an education background in Bellevue Colleges Board of Trustees. This is a public institution, funded by public dollars. If you want good education, you should insist on some of the people who are making the decisions, to know something about education. The decisions being made at Bellevue College are not transparent, nor in the best interest of our communitys education. This includes all levels, including the Continuing Education Program. More and more money is spent on administration, and less and less on teaching.

Virtual graduation was ridiculous, such a depressing group of people talking about everything negative in the world we are facing, no motivation. Didnt feel excited at all to graduate, such a shame when you work hard to accomplish so much. Advisors dont help at all, transfer program didnt complete requirements at new school. They change what classes apply towards degrees and dont tell you why certain ones dont count until after you have taken them to waste your time. I ended up transferring to university early to finish my associates, cost way more but finished degree faster. So much was unorganized, my associates took me few extra years because so many errors or delays on things.

(REVIEW FOR ADVISING)I decided not to even go to this college. I recently moved here and needed to know what i needed to transfer to Bastyr. It was such a confusing experience. When i finally met the adviser, i let him know where i wanted to transfer and with what major to see what kind of classes i might need before taking the assessment test. He was nice, but scattered and told me only 6 classes and displayed them in this full year class planner. I liked the idea of the planner but the only classes he listed where the ones i told him i needed. On top of that he said that i probably wouldnt get into math141, which i needed for the program. It was extremely disappointing that he had no idea what my academic capabilities were and just told me i wasnt smart enough, he didnt even have my high school transcript. I dont know maybe it was my race or the idea that i was going to a community college that made me seem incapable. This was a turnoff for me, Ive had experience with this before and i feel anyone working in education should be positive and expect the best from their students. Anyways, he interrupted me and said the appointment was over, and i left confused. I went ahead to North Seattle Community College. The advisers were friendly, and gave me so much information. I took the assessment test there, which was too easy and yeah, i got into math 141. Im glad i made this decision. This was my experience. My advice, dont come here confused or unsure, you might just set yourself up for failure. That is, if you have actual ambition and plan on doing something with the education you get.

This college has no idea what they are doing and all they care about is money. I was accepted into an amazing program and the Dean has caused so many problems for us. The teachers are amazing and put in so much work and care about the students but most of the upper administration doesnt care. I have been trying to get a class substituted and they have lost my papers along with my classmates papers 3 times!. They have outrageous parking fees and then take over 3 months to decide that I am guilty of a fine so they make me pay it. AFTER 3 MONTHS of waiting to hear back. As soon as you pay your tuition they do not care about you. Thank god the teachers care about the students otherwise I would have left my program. This college may have a a beautiful campus but the administration does not care about anything other than money.

Parking is awful, the Administration is run by monkeys and clowns. By goodness save your money and do not go to this money sucking pyramid scheme faking as a college. They ruined my financial stability and have given back nothing in return. A degree here is not worth the tuition I promise that.Their online access portals are awful, their communications is damning, construction is always going on. The students are subpar in my opinion, many whom lazily lounge to and from class. I can’t believe I have two more years of this awful establishment. The commute elsewhere must be worth it because this is hands down the most awful school. My public middle school built in the 60s was nicer than this dump. If someone had the guts to have even a shred of integrity, this school would get another star.

The teaches that are great are amazingly great, and the teachers that are bad usually do not last there very long. It is a great College to take classes when you can and want to continue your education, or if you want to major here. There are tons of programs to take advantage of and the price is much less than UW or WSU.I would not give it 5 stars because the food is rather atrocious. Better to bring your own lunch or dinner than to buy food in their cafeteria. If you are here taking classes, chances are you will make friends and be a part of some amazing stories.

Enrolled in the online program at the ravings of the advisor and was forced to take classes that I had already completed due to it being a requirement of the program; driving about 250 miles to take my first course on campus, having to rent a hotel and stay the night and this only being a 1-credit class. The whole process of getting approved and registered was complicated and I never knew if I should purchase books until a few days before the classes were to start, sometime forcing me to find pdf versions of books just to have the literature that was required for the course. The classes were all essay format and required a huge investment of time to complete. I spent an excess of sixtey hours online to saisfy 3-4 credit courses and almost that much that time for a one credit course. This did not include my reading, research, and essay-writing time. Still I moved along as I really enjoyed the instructor Jerry. This quarter I never received permission codes from my advisor and when I shot him an email 2-weeks before Fall classes started, I was blamed for not having my supervisor contact him prior to providing the codes. Supervisor participation was explained, but not the part about having them contact the advisor prior to obtaining the codes. Still my fault somehow.. When my supervisor contacted my advisor, suddenly it was too late and the class was cancelled and hold on... so was the whole online program. Now I am out a considerable amount of money and time and sent searching for another program somewhere in the country where I will probably have to jump through all their hoops from the beginning making by Bellevue College experience a waste of time and money. Never again Bellevue College.....

This is a college where you go to get your prerequisites to transfer to another school, mostly UW a few Eastern and dozens of colleges elsewhere. Bellevue College isnt Harvard but they do have well funded IT departments, teachers that have classes are good enough because they dont get paid if the class doesnt fill up.They encourage us as students to honestly grade teachers as well as the administration is actively envolved in the student associations. You have well lit campus at night and for a school in Seattle, it can get suprisingly dark in the Fall and Winter so safety becomes an issue. We have a brand new huge four story parking garage that sometimes gets patrolled but the campus cops are pretty cool about not always being parking Nazi... besides can you blame them they have to pay for the parking garage. The school is mostly funded by current students and the highschoolers taking part in the HeadStart program, so you may have a math class with a highschool sophmore while in college. The campus is clean, the cafeteria doesnt kill anybody with horrible food as its standard burgers, soup, fries and salad sections keep a few thousand students pacified through to finals then they transfer out and a new wave follows them each fall.Is it perfect, no.Are the computer labs small with outdated computers, no. They all have 24 LCD monitors and gigabyte internet connection.
