I removed my son within one week of starting there when their kindergarten teacher, Michelle Vincent, treated him so poorly. If you are not one of the wealthy parents and your child does not fit their unrealistic molds of perfection, be prepared for the teacher and principal to tag team you and tell you that your child has ADD/ADHD/Autism. After removing him from the school, I brought him to two separate specialists. Both stated the school was in the wrong and that the teachers just didnt want to deal with a boisterous boy. One of them even informed me this wasnt the first time she had heard of issues with this school. When I asked for a refund for the money we gave the school for supplies, I was met with disrespect by the principal. Why should I donate money and supplies to this school when they told me my son needed to go elsewhere? I should have gone to the superintendent but instead I found a school that respects my child and helps him blossom. Do NOT send your child here.

My Granddaughter will graduate from High Lakes tomorrow and I cannotexpress enough how truly exceptional my experience has been at this school. My daughter starts her job early, too early to drop her children offor pick them up, so consequently I have hadthrough the years; a ringside seat at High Lakes as a fill in Mom/Grandmom. My granddaughter and grandson are greeted many mornings by the principal Mrs. Heberlein who always has a smile. If she not helping with kid traffic, she helps with the ongoing kid drop-offs greeting everyone who passes by her. She makes everyone feel welcome and her ability to connect with each child is a gift, shes truly a people person. Secondly the staff you meet as you walk in the door express Good Morning to the kids...I dont know how they remember everyones names. When I went to school that was only the case, when you were maybe too often in the Principals Office!!My granddaughter is very shy and it unfortunately rolled over into her scholastics and ability to learn. She wouldnt raise her hand when she didnt understand something so as not to stand out but, as a result she fell behind in that subject and had to work even harder. Once her mother realized what was happening and pointed it out to the staff she started to slowly improve, not just scholastically but socially. They gave her courage like the Lion in Wizard Of Oz....boy did it work! With this newfound confidence she slowly bloomed, and it showed. She was ready to go to school now, not afraid to be wrong but; empowered to learn and in the course maybe be wrong but thats ok. This change came about not just because of her teacher but from the front office back. The word was out and she was supported by all.Just last week it was her turn to now as all Fifth Graders do to take a first grader through the school and show he or she what its all about at High Lakes. She was so proud to have that assignment , she met it with such joy and confidence. My Grandson will attend for two more years at High Lakes and Im looking forward to every minute of it. My Granddaughter graduates tomorrow and Im sad and excited as shell move on however, I wonder if shell find what shes found here at High Lakes. She came in as a scared First Grader and is leaving as a happy and confident 5 Grader. Thank you to all the staff at High Lakes, its abundantly clear you love your jobs!!
