Love sensei Darren! I have been training with him for the last 15 years. The classes are always well planned and super fun! So happy he opened his own place.

The experience at this karate school has been wonderful for both of my children. Not only are they learning karate extremely well, they have developed poise, self control and discipline. Sensei Darren and his crew are excellent role models. I highly recommend this school for anyone interested in martial arts.

There are many options out there to teach the physicality of martial arts, but not necessarily to model integrity, to build confidence and to teach the extremely important lessons in how to fail forward. Darren is not only the owner of WTD, hes the teacher and has built his business by teaching these lessons to one child at a time. He is truly looking to help shape the next generation through his passion and it comes through in all that he does for our kids. Before joining the dojo, I was overweight, had poor eating and sleeping habits, and had little understanding of the world around me. I never thought that the decisions and actions I had made had any sort of effect on the people around me, nor would those effects have any lasting impact if they had been made. Moreover, since I come from a family who already emphasizes the importance of martial arts, I didnt think that there was anything that could be taught by a Sensei from a town like Berkeley Heights. After all, what made the White Tiger curriculum so different from all the other karate and tae kwon do schools curriculums?As it turns out, theres a big difference. For one, Sensei Darren holds everyone accountable for their actions and decisions, spoken or unspoken, and isnt afraid to call you out for deviating from this essential standard. For another, Sensei Darrens philosophy of owning your actions and decisions is taught to ALL of his students which is what really creates the warm community that the White Tiger Dojo encompasses.Regardless of age, rank, or profession, Darren sees you for the person who you are, and helps you to become the person who you want to become. In response, every single person at the dojo, from the parents, to the kids, to the adults, will treat every person with that same mindset of respect and accountability. Its really quite impressive to watch these interactions occur before me, as it still is unbelievable that come this October it will be my three-year anniversary at the dojo as both a student and an assistant instructor.Im proud to say that, three years later, Ive lost the weight I never thought I could lose and gained the muscle and physical control over my body I never realized I could have. Most importantly, Ive learned of the importance of being aware of not just the presence a person can have over other people, but also of how other people can affect you. Coming from a person who was taught traditional martial arts from birth to adulthood, the White Tiger Dojo is the perfect blend of traditional martial arts with practical self-defense techniques more suited for the modern individual than any other school/teacher has taught me.I sincerely cant wait to see what other achievements the school and its community will make years to come.

The dojo is a great place with a great community the head instructor connects to students on a deep emotional level and helps students grow. The classes are held at a variety of times so there is always a time for everyone. Compare to most martial art school its clean, smells fresh and the rules are simple to understand for parents and students.

The head instructor, Darren Demarco, has over 20 years of martial arts experience and he personally runs and instructs every class. I must say I am very impressed with Sensai Darren who owns White Tiger Dojo. The Kar-Art-Tayy Camp he just ran was so awesome! My almost 6 year old son also goes to karate there.
