I stumbled upon GarmentWorks when I was looking for a serious, private fashion design school in 2019. I believe it had been in existence for one year. I’d been attending CCSF intermittently. Their fashion shows made me disappointingly aware of the quality & finesse lacking. When I toured the school one winter afternoon - from the co-founder, to the peaceful, tree-lined, beautiful workroom, to the class offerings, to the lovely neighborhood - I immediately decided to leave San Francisco & move to the East Bay, which I did. Not to be disappointed. Classes are detailed, and fellow students are serious. I feel like I’m being handed down the hard-earned tradition of potential unflawed beauty & flair when it comes to my own clothing design. I’m being taught how to sew & design the right way.
