I am a professional Makeup Artist that has taken classes at Astute Artistry. After completing the class I began working for Lisa. She taught me a lot and I am grateful. I encourage people to come to Astute with an open mind, ready to do the work and motivated for their future. You truly get out of it what you put into it. I also noticed that I was mentioned in some of the reviews... One in particular... Dena. She was given a FREE class that we did a random drawing for. She didnt have to pay for classes so she cant say she was scammed when she didnt pay for her education... and as far as Bianca goes... Im still affiliated with Astute Artistry. But because I have worked hard at my craft, I am working in films so Im not there everyday.On a more positive note... I am excited about what the future has in store for Astute Artistry! Now is the time to take advantage of what this school has to offer!

I am a student at Astute Artistry and I am loving it. I have the honor of having Lisa G. the owner as my teacher. I have learned so much but still learning a lot more. She is a great teacher and makes sure each and every one of her students understands the material before moving on. I would recommend this school to anyone who is interested in makeup, film, fashion and a lot more.

They charge more for Professional Make-up Artist classes than most cosmetology schools. As a professional cosmetologist, make-up artist and special effects artist, the work in their portfolio is completely average bordering on mediocre. Not to mention they spam any mention of make-up artistry on any public forum. Dont waste your money, and go to someone with actual talent. And if you want to become a make-up artist, go through a legitimate schooling facility.

I had a wonderful experience with Lisa doing a bridal makeup consultation. She knew exactly what colors to use, and presented me with two looks that were close contenders. She knows what shes doing! I will definitely be coming back for other services.

Bought the eyelash extension from Groupon. It was a great deal!! My lashes turned out beautifully and Lisa did a great job on my brows. I was very happy with both services and will go back again!!

I purchased a groupon for 6 laser hair treatments. The first session was canceled and took over a month to reschedule since they were too busy going through accreditation for their school. I then had two treatments- treatments went fine. The machine then broke so they canceled my other appointments telling me they would contact me when it was fixed. That was in October and its been over 5 months and Ive never heard from them. I have been calling and leaving messages since December but no one returns my phone calls or answers the phone there. Very disappointing and a waste of my money and time. I would be hesitant to utilize them for any service given how impossible it is to reach them.Update August 2017-Pretty sure this business is permanently closed when I went through town the other day. I think the owners took off and opened a new one in Detroit. Groupon was kind enough to exchange my purchase. I am very disappointed in Astute Artistry and find them to be a very irresponsible business.

I am currently a student with Astute Artistry, and really love the environment and since of family, not to mention all things Ive learned thus far. This is a great school to attend to learn from some of the best!!!!!

ASTUTE ARTISTRY IS A SCAM!! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY THERE! They claim to be a makeup school but they have no accreditation from the state of Michigan and yet she is charging thousands of dollars for makeup training for a certificate that no one recognizes. I didnt find this out until I already gave her my money and took the classes and now I cant get a job at a salon because it isnt legal, that is ridiculous. I was told that if I want to work in a salon I need a license from the State of Michigan,not a random certificate from a random school that has no merit in Michigan. I told the owner Lisa Glickoff what happened and she told me to go work at a counter in the mall and sell retail, that is not what I want and I explained that when I signed up for classes. So basically she took my money knowing that I wouldnt be able to get a job in the salon setting I was going for...RIP OFF!!! I cant believe someone that is claiming to be an educator would knowingly take thousands of dollars from someone knowing good and well that that certificate meant nothing. I was trying to start my career proper and invest in my education and yet all I really did was give my money to a greedy money hungry woman that could care less about my future in the makeup industry. She is a terrible heartless person that is taking advantage of young girls that are trying to better themselves. I paid for my classes in cash and now Im out that money, my only choice now is to get a financial aid loan and go back to school to be a cosmetologist, esthetician or go to one of the other accredited makeup schools...which I could have done in the first place. So she took my entire savings, the money that I had been saving to better myself, and now I have to go into debt to pay for something I thought I already paid for. She refused to give me a refund even though she isnt legally a school, how is she possibly getting away with this??? To anyone looking for makeup training I suggest you look somewhere else, she will take your money and you WILL get screwed!!!

I had a Groupon to get eyelash extensions and Lisa did an absolutely wonderful job. They turned out so pretty! Lisa was so friendly and welcoming, we talked the entire time! I will defintely go back!

So I will start off by saying this. I dont know anything about makeup, I dont know much about hair styles, I dont know the first thing about facials, manicures and a multitude of other girly things. Not because I dont want to know but mostly I dont care.That being said, what I do know is when something looks like crap and something looks awesome. Astute Artistry makes things look awesome. I have worked with them over the years and I have seen nothing but stellar work on their part, particularly in their special effects and Halloween body painting. I have been to all of their Skin Cancer Charity events, Halloween parties and I used their services to paint me for Halloween.Let me tell you why my Halloween costume was awesome. Lisa, the owner, personally did her work on me and I was a swamp monster. She spent a solid 4 hours painting my body from face to my waist.After I left, the following happened1. I freaked out a kid at CVS because my costume was so terrifying.2. I won multiple costume contests, so my made my money back and then some.3. Lisa cleverly drew the illusion of six-pack abs on my stomach... which was probably the most impressive feat of the night.4. Ordering food late night at Taco Bell was never more entertainingAll in all, Astute Artistry really does live up to their name. They did an amazing job with my costume and I have seen them only improve over the years. Lisa is an awesome person to work with and I had fun the whole time. If their makeup training, hair styling, massage therapy, or any other eyebrow related services they perform are even half as good as the Halloween costumes, you are in for an awesome ride.

This company Astute Artistry is so unprofessional and scam artists! After being patient with them due to Jamie Kothe being sick, If that was even true! I was receiving laser treatments from them. and I only had (2) treatments done, and I was supposed to receive 7 treatments in total. I spoke with the owner Lisa Glickoff who promised me once Jamie K was feeling better that she would resume my treatments. Which was a lie! After several calls, emails, texts and no shows at her office or no ONE responded. Them two ripped me off out of hundreds of dollars. Even if they offer me a refund it would had been ok! So now I guess I have to wait until we go to smalls clams court. I would not even recommend my dog period. Please dont let them rip you off.

I bought their Groupons eyelash extensions and boy did I regret it. From the moment I stepped foot into the place I second guessed myself. I wanted to leave immediately but I had already paid for the service so I decided to stay. I ended up having to go to another place to get my eyelash extensions removed and my natural eyelashes were so damaged after only one week. I also learned that the people there are not even licensed to do eyelash extensions so you can imagine how mad that made me. Astute Artistry is probably one of the worst businesses Ive dealt with. Their facility is very small and dark and looks dirty. The girl who did my eyelashes was on the computer when I arrived and she took me and started working on me without even washing her hands. There was a class going on at the same time and the instructor invited the students to come and watch as I was getting my eyelashes put on without even asking if it was ok with me. This made me so uncomfortable I wanted to scream. At the end my eyelashes didnt even look any different at all and whoever saw them didnt notice a difference either. Before I left they told me that if I write a good review about them online they would give me discounts on future services and I figured this is probably why they have good reviews on here because otherwise it would make no sense. Anyway, I hope this helps someone with their decision about getting any service from them.

It was not all glamourous like they put on!! they are money hungry and They dont teach you anything worth mentioning!! im so glad I didnt Pay for the classes there, they lie and say classes are filling up!! it was only two people in my class you go on there website the people that were there previously Lacie,Bianca,Lois theyre I dont see them being part of the staff anymore it makes me wonder and happy I didnt give this school money oh yes watch your credit cards!! they will take moneys Lolas for you Bianca you are apart of it all

Recently I did a charity event, and Astute Artistry was one of our sponosors. They donated their time, make-up and products to the fashion show and the event turned out to be a great sucess. Astute Artistry also Partners with Barbara Ann Karmanos, so it was a natural fit when I contacted them to participate. Thank you for the fantastic job!

Groupon asked me to leave feedback for my recent basic bikini wax with this place. I commented that they switched my appointment date (because she was going out of town) and then she was 40 minutes behind schedule (and didn’t apologize). Also, I was left with a couple of bruises on my thighs due to the esthetician not pulling the skin taut enough and rupturing blood vessels.Upon reading my account of the facts, Astute Artistry responded that one of their workers was ill and a client was late which apparently meant all their other clients had to wait as well. They also suggested that I “do my research” before claiming that they broke some blood vessels because its not possible that an esthetician could break blood vessels. They suggested that I must just have “sensitive skin”. As a licensed massage therapist for 22 years I can say that I’ve never known a human being’s skin to not be sensitive.I have a couple suggestions for Astute Artistry:1) A good business doesn’t make excuses or sarcastic comebacks. They are respectful, apologize when necessary and have at least a bit of humility.2) look up the definition of “bruise”…BRUISEbro͞oz/nounnoun: bruise; plural noun: bruises1.u2028an injury appearing as an area of discolored skin on the body, caused by a blow or impact rupturing underlying blood vessels.

If its too good to be true then it probably isnt. I purchased a groupon certificate for eyelashes and $49 is very cheap for lash extentions so this should have been the first red flag.On 1/715 i went to Astute to redeem the groupon and the entire experience was a diaster. First I was told it would take 2 hour and I was there for almost 4 hours. Second they were not done properly and did not look natural, and I was falsely advised the lashes would last for 2-4 weeks (thats a lie). Oddly enough, its only been two weeks and the extensions are hanging off and damaging my real eyelashes.Someone told me this place is not license to perform lash extensions and if this is the case I am reporting them to the state board. Why would they offer this service and not perform it correctly? Do you self a favor and avoid this place.
