Every single one the instructors at this place are genuinely caring and patient individuals. They really care about their students and go the extra mile every to ensure each child is having fun and learning. Mr. Nick took time out of the class today to help my son who was being emotional and got him back out on the mat. He is great with the kids and we cant thank him enough for his patience and understanding.

When I first walked in the door in February, I was in some rough shape-a former martial artist/workout enthusiast whod developed bad habits over his life and now in his early 40s was paying for it in several ways. In only the 5 months since, the difference in how I feel physically and mentally is like night and day-Havent lost too much weight yet, but my blood pressure is down 30 points, I run out of breath far less often, and my range of motion is largely back--bending, twisting or other movement which used to be sudden agony now troubles me not at all. I am better able to defend myself, because I am better able to do *everything*. You must make the effort, get yourself in the door, and just keep showing up, but if you will do this, it will be worth it. This place is, perhaps in the very literal/medical sense of the phrase, bringing me back to life. Absolutely recommend.

My family and I have been training at North Shore Karate Academy for years now. We have been thrilled with the instruction and facilities. The biggest attribute, not found at many karate schools, is the sense of family. We have developed friendships with other families as well as with the instructors. Mr. Spoon (owner) cares about all of his students and their families. It’s like we have our own “karate community” which makes the experience that much more enjoyable. The knowledge and martial arts experience of the instructors is second to none. They understand that everyone learns and has physical limitations and abilities that are different. The instruction is geared towards the individual and they work with your strengths and weaknesses. I highly recommend North Shore Karate Academy to any parent or adult looking for top instruction and a karate community.

This is such a great karate school! My family has been training with Mr. Spoon for 3 years now. My kids love going to NSKA where they get to learn not only karate, but also respect and focus. Mr. Spoon is great with kids, and knows how to keep their attention and keeping them engaged in what activity they need to focus on. Being an adult karate student has helped me to gain my self confidence, keeping me fit, and training along side my fellow students and great sensei Mr. Spoon! Highly recommended!

I highly recommend NSKA because its owner and instructors are top notch. They are passionate about their craft and eager to share their karate knowledge with students of all levels. I have trained for years at NSKA and feel as though I was welcomed into a karate family from the very beginning.

I have been at NSKA for around 7 years now and it has taught me many things for example bravery, self discipline, focus, self defense, honesty and of course martial arts like karate and kobudo. Mr Spoon is all you could ask for in a sensei. He is Kind, funny, and strict when he needs to be. North Shore Karate Academy is by far the best dojo ever. If I hadn’t done karate here who knows where I’d be today.

My 7 year old son and I have been training here for almost 2 years and we love NSKA!. Sensei Spoon is truly the best. It was a dream come true for me, as I always wanted to train again (I did some as a child) but never could get myself into the dojo until I was there for my son. To start to train later in life (my 40s...) I was a little apprehensive but everyone is so welcoming and helpful, a real community feeling. The positive attitude, mutual respect, kindness, and discipline make the classes rewarding and fun!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Weve had 2 of our boys there for 3 years (now age 6 and 8) and they love it and look forward to it every Monday and Wednesday. The teachers are very knowledgeable and patient and professional. They are very flexible when it comes to figuring out your schedule.

By far the best martial arts academy around! Sensei Spoon and Mr. Hart are incredible teachers with a wealth of knowledge, but more importantly the ability and willingness to share it. I studied at this school for over seven years and I would still be attending if I didnt move out of state.

We love this dojo! Both of our kids attend classes here and enthusatically look forward to each session. The instructors do a wonderful job of both teaching the technical and spiritual aspects of karate. They are truly helping my children grow in a positive way mentally and physically. The people who run this business not only take the art of karate seriously, but also teaching. They honestly are so easy to work with, respectful, and truly love what they do. They get to know each student and drive them to succeed. The enemy of success is good enough. This is not a good enough dojo. This is the BEST and ONLY place to learn karate if you are looking to be a real karate kid. Karate begins and ends with Respect. They reinforce how children should behave at home, at school and in the real world. They encourage their students to interact with the younger kids and really teach more than kicks and punches.They teach skills to build confidence, self defense, and calming techniques of focus. Thank you so much Senseis Spoon and Hart. My child is a better kid because of you. (Of course his parents are pretty awesome too).

NSKA is one of the best experiences we have had with an after school activity. We have two boys at the dojo. Nick and Bob are professional and teach more than self defense. They praise the kids for showing respect, responsibility and perseverance. They are concerned not only with the physical aspects of karate but who the kids are as people. We were recommended to the dojo by other families and couldnt say enough good things about it.
