Urooj is a student who worked on my hair today at Pivot Point Academy. She did such an amazing job and brought my vision to life! She greeted me with a smile and sweet conversation. She walked me through the process and with all the products she used. She also offered me advice on how to care for my new hair as well as introducing me to new products that will allow me to have this beautiful, soft, shiny purple hair for a long time! I’ve been to Pivot for a facial and hair color. Both experiences were top notch. Obviously being a school, expect everything to take 1-2 hours longer than the quoted time. If you have time, this is a great budget friendly salon.

Forget this place! The teacher knew little about hair. Kids doing styles that are 30 years old. My hair means more to me than to let them do it! Leave!!

Im torn. I have been going to Pivot Point for years because its a great value. I am not very fussy with my hair, usually my requirement is collarbone length hair with layers. I dont want the hair cut too short because I hate when my hair is in my face so I need to be able to tie it in a ponytail. My hair is not fussy either, it does what its told. I left unhappy the last two times Ive visited. The first time, the cut was too short, as in I looked like Dora the Explorer because the longest layer didnt even hit my shoulders. I was annoyed but the rest of the cut was fine so I didnt harp on it too much. The next visit, I got home and literally cried. Like I said, Im not fussy with my hair but this was so bad. The hair was cut too short, the layers were so choppy and unsymmetrical, and my hair would not stay in a ponytail. Pieces were constantly falling out. The woman that cut my hair was friendly, everyone is, but she clearly needed more practicing because it looked terrible. Even if you chop off too much, the least you can do is even it out. Its been 6 months and my hair is slowly growing back but every time I catch a glance at some of the shorter layers, it makes me sad.

If had one word do describe my first experience at this establishment, the word would be amazing. From the moment I walked into the door I was greeted very kindly and was then approached by my barber that would be cutting my hair that day , Jay. And let me tell you from the moment I sat down in the chair he was very nice and wanted to know how I wanted my hair to be. During the haircut, he was very personable and I was shocked to find out how he was still a student there. Reason being because his techniques and attention to detail were impeccable. Jay had given me by far the best haircut and service that I had ever experienced. 10/10 would recommend, and I surely plan on being back very soon!

I received the signature facial with the eye treatment add-on by Amber Trainor. She did such a wonderful job and Im very pleased with my results! My skin feels fresh and has a glow. Amber created a warm and inviting atmosphere and remained professional the entire time. She was very thorough and explained what she was doing every step of the way. She is very knowledgeable about the products she was using and even made some recommendations for my skincare routine. I told her I had a headache coming into the appointment and she made me feel relaxed and gave me a wonderful head massage. It was such a nice touch! I felt refreshed and renewed after my appointment and Ill definitely be booking with Amber again soon!

Today I had Reyna cut my hair. Petra was the Educator and my first time with this Educator. I don’t get my haircut often enough to usually have the same student but I usually have the same Educator, Ken. I have longer and rather extremely thick hair. It’s always a challenge no matter just with thinning it out to take out the bulk. I have been to this location several times and cannot say enough good things! Today was my most favorite cut and I had a blast with Petra and Reyna (she’s going to be even more great after graduation). While keeping my length, Petra and Reyna teamed up to suggest and execute a new look. I love it! Don’t be afraid to give a student a shot. The Educators here are the best, seriously. Bryanna was my stylist. Amazing conversation and service. I was there for a while and was observing how Hands-On and friendly the teachers were. Interacted a lot with the customers as well. The peers treated each other with a helping hand, and respect. The student that took care of me was very attentive to a neck issue I have. And she curled my hair just because! This isnt the first time Ive been to a student Salon Service setting. But this is certainly the first time I walked out impressed. Completely different energy here.

I had my first haircut appointment today. The salon is spotless and the staff is friendly and attentive. My stylist, Ariella did a great job and I went home to a huge complement from my husband.The haircut I received was as good as any Ive ever had and I recommend it. The academy is very professional, the people are kind, and the girls that did my highlights and all-over color did a great job on color placement.However, my hair cannot tolerate bleach. Although I told the staff that applying bold red dye directly to my hair without bleach would give the effect I wanted (over 10+ years of doing this in salons and at home) they didnt believe me and decided to go with high lift color which Ive never tried before. The high lift, although not bleach, has ended up damaging my hair. I had perfectly healthy and soft hair, freshly cut the day before. Now the texture has changed, my fingers get caught in it, it tangles, its dry and crunchy, and my curls are frizzing out and not holding shape which only happens when theyre damaged. I cut off the most damaged parts. A hair mask and my usual routine with leave-in conditioner hasnt helped. I dont think there was in issue with their application, my hair is just sensitive. Regardless, Im disappointed that my hair has been damaged and that the color that was mixed up wasnt as vibrant red as I usually get.Overall, my experience there was positive and its obvious people there are skilled. With curly haired clients, it is essential to listen to them and trust them since each persons curl is so unique. There are very few hairdressers that truly understand curly hair which is a constant issue for me.

I went in Pivot Point a little nervous for two reasons; One, it was a school and second, I wanted a perm and was a little nervous about it. Elissa helped me confirm that a perm was exactly what I wanted. She also helped me decide what type of curls I wanted by listening, giving me her input and showing me pictures. I has a wonderful and relaxing visit with Lejla. I ve been back multiple times for her amazing services. She is very educated on the products shes using on her clients. She double checks that the pressure is good and also the heat of the steamer and towels is to the clients liking. I have been putting off getting my hair done for months. My roots were growing out and my color was fading. I felt dull, like my world was black and white. I looked on Pinterest and video tutorials and decided that I should probably not try to do it myself. I finally went to Pivot Point to get it done. When I walked in, I immediately got some good vibes. The staff were so friendly. I ended up getting a partial highlight with Sophie and let me tell you the shampoo sent me to heaven. Everyone was fun and I had some good laughs and good times. After the color and style, I saw some great results. My hair was just light enough for the summer and it covered up my roots pretty good. My world was no longer black and white, but colorful. I was much more confident and felt AMAZING. I was in tears. Thank you Pivot Point and Sophie for the BEST hair appointment ever.

Ive been going to the Bloomingdale location for a little while now and thoroughly enjoy the experience. The place is always clean. The staff is well versed and attentive to the students educational experience.Recently, Anthony (student) has done an outstanding job of nailing my look and bringing new techniques and refinements to the styling that show continued growth. Always a good time when hes behind the clippers.

Even thought this is a beauty school. It is a top notch place for a cut. I came in looking to get a quick clean up and I left more then satisfied. The student Jay was the one who cleaned me up and I must say he is still a student by his personality made it seem like he was a professional. I’ve had several services done here by Jenn Lee including color, cuts, and styling. She always does a fantastic job and I always walk out feeling amazing after seeing her! The instructors also make sure you are well taken care of and that the stylists are all supported throughout the entire process.

I have come here several times for a shampoo, blow dry and toner touch up and Rosio always provides the best service! She listens to what you want and gives you great recommendations on how to take care of your hair. She is professional and amazing at what she does. I will definitely keep coming back to her for more services.

There was a time where as long as it was short and fit regulation, it was good enough. However currently, after going to Pivot, I realized how much a good haircut can improve self-image. She is also very knowledgeable of everything, was generous of my comfort and even recommended me products after my facial! My face is so smooth and supple, the combo of techniques and products left my skin looking and feeling AMAZING !!
