Its been only a week that my 8 year son goes here and we absolutely love it! Hes always looking forward to going to class and the instructors are just amazing. I couldnt have asked for a better place.

Wonderful Jiu Jitsu classes for kids starting at the age of 4. Wonderful, patient, kind, helpful coaches. Both Coach Marcello and Coach Jason help students learn and master new techniques. Drop in classes with individualized attention. Super clean facility. I highly recommend!

So - first time reviewer, long time visitor (on Google reviews at least) but I felt this gym was worth the time and effort to encourage others to check it out, from the perspective of a visitor. (If you ask me this is a valuable outside perspective for these types of establishments)Unfortunately work keeps me out of the area so Im only able to visit this gym while seeing the fam - in a nutshell though, and please dont tell my mother, it has become a toss up between getting to roll here and seeing the family as to what Im most excited about when heading home. The instruction here is top notch and super technical and the instructors do a fantastic job of walking the mats to ensure everyone is getting the concept/technique and when they arent, gets hands on with a student until they do (if you ask me this is as valuable, if not more so, than the instruction itself)...and despite their accolades in international competition - they are also super humble, friendly, and open - they make you feel at home immediately and genuinely care about your development, even visitors.That being said, this is not a gym/team for the feint of heart. The practitioners there are highly competitive and there is always a mixture of higher belts that you will roll with, and they will push you...the good thing is, like their primary instructors, they will take an interest in seeing you develop as a team member and will lend their instructive advice on how to improve your jiu jitsu game.This is a gym and community to be emulated in the larger jiu jitsu scene and I hope where ever I land to find one just like it.

My first experience here was brief in 2012, and I returned in 2016. I have been part of this academy and team ever since. I drove my old, unreliable car a good 45 minutes every evening to train here (despite having multiple other gyms in my area). Given the choice -- I would do it all over again. I have reached new levels and been given great opportunities because of this place. You will learn and continue to learn proper fundamentals, and top tier advanced techniques if you train here.

This place is absolutely amazing. My husband and I had been looking for an extracurricular activity to enroll our son in. He has a learning disability and some people tend to forget to be patient or take the extra time to break things down for him. The trainers/teachers do just that. They are patient and will take the time to work with him one on one. They are so incredibly personal with our child; we definitely feel welcomed there. This was the best decision we made our son. I highly recommend Brasa Comprido BJJ. They go above and beyond for all of their students!

I love that not only my son joined, but my daughter wanted to as well when she saw how much fun her brother was having. The location is in Stratford square mall. The studio is clean and the staff is welcoming. They are so great with kids. The coaches dont leave one child out. They are on their knees kid level and teach them, actually take the time to make sure each student is doing things correctly. I have had my kids in different places to try different sports and this has hands down been the most fun, educational, and rewarding for my kids. Im a single mom and my son (6yrs old) loves to go see his coaches every day. He is making friends and enjoying, what I hope will be, a life long activity for him.

Instruction at Comprido BJJ in Bloomingdale is top not. Having two 5th degree black belts teach class together there is plenty of opportunities for individual coaching and support. In my experience they are friendly and balanced between ensuring student safety, and student progression through a rigorous training environment. Kids classes always have a great turn out and adult classes are structured to have multiple abbreviated sessions per night which allows for scheduling flexibility. Front office staff are very friendly, helpful people and make membership cost clear and easy to sign up. Try Jiu jitsu here and you will not regret it.

My son has been in this since he was 4 and a half, and it has been great for him! His first two days were a little rough for him, as he was naturally a little shy, however the coaches and staff were amazing! One of the women working there sat with him on the edge of the mat, and watched with him.Theres lots of fun before, during and after class, as well as holiday celebrations. As a parent, the most important part for me is that the program does actually challenge the children. They do have to work for their belts, promotions, and abilities on the mat. This has given my son a sense of ownership over his training and perseverance for long-term goals.

I started training Jiu Jitsu with Comprido when I was 11 years old. Words cannot describe how thankful I am to have grown up training at Comprido BJJ. Comprido is an incredible coach and a great role model. He has taught me many valuable life lessons over the years and always inspires me to be the best version of myself. I have train in many school and what I found best about this one is the high level of professionalism and with the number of years, experience that the professors bring to the table. These teachers just did not get there black belt they have all been training, competing and teaching for a long time. The atmosphere and the great friendly student bring this environment to an all time high. Im 48 with a number of excuses not to come in and train but coming here just keeps me coming for more.

I took some time while looking for a BJJ gym. I wanted a place with good coaches and a good base of students across all levels. I made a list of all of the gyms near me in the Western Suburbs and worked my way through them over a couple of months.If youre an adult student with no background in grappling like me, let me save you some time. Give Comprido BJJs trial class a go.I started by looking up the credentials of the coaches at each place on my list. Comprido is a 7-time world champion and he holds the record for the fastest submission in black belt finals competition. I was impressed not only with his experience, but more with the fact that he is on the mat every day. Its obvious that teaching is just as important to him as his own success.When I shortened up my list to a select few for trial classes, I initially thought that losing to lots of different attacks was a sign that the gym was good. I figured that if Im tapping out in different ways, people there know a lot. But honestly, the fact that everyone else beats you tells you very little about the quality of the gym. If youre new to BJJ pretty much everything works against you, so it doesnt mean so much.What means more is how much you can learn from the program and your team mates. Marcelo (a black belt instructor) is really great at explaining not just techniques like how to do an arm bar, but also concepts like why position is more important to establish first. I have also found that everyone I have rolled with has been willing to offer advice or answer questions about what I should work on to improve. You can go for a full roll every time or mix in some friendlier rolls where your mistakes are pointed out as you make them, giving you chance to learn live. Its that kind of instruction that really made Comprido BJJ the best experience I had in all of my trial classes.On top of their quality instruction, this gym has a definite family feel that I appreciate. Two months in, Im a fan of Comprido BJJ. I can only say good things about the coaching, front desk and fellow students. Grab a trial class and check it out for yourself!

The best BJJ instruction you can find! The coaches are top-level instructors and have their top black belts teaching the kids. So the youth programs get world class coaching along with the adults! My son has been there two years and I take the JKD and Kali/Boxing classes. If youre thinking about learning BJJ look no further. Atmosphere is super clean and friendly. If youre a novice or want to compete you found the right place!

I’ve been going here for about three years and I love it. The instructors are kind and welcoming. They encourage you to do do well. The location is very clean and easy to access.

If you are looking results, whatever they may be, you will find them here. The people on the mats will be some of the most competitive, compassionate, and helpful around. The location is in a mall with plenty of parking and a food court. You will find business professionals, first responders, college students, moms, dads, kids, people with no prior athletic experience, looking to get into shape, to gain confidence, to defend themselves, etc.

Comprido BJJ is like a family. The black belt instructors are wonderful people and highly attentive and they really care for their students. All of the students help each other and care for one another and everyone shares knowledge with each other. BJJ is a hard sport but everyone has a fun time and lots of laughs are shared. This is a great place to learn bjj. Highly recommended!

Looking for an martial arts academy that is welcoming, teaches practical techniques, and invests their attention into their students, then look no further. I brought my 8 year old son in for some exercise and self defense. The other students welcomed him right in. The instructors met him where he was at helped him learn and grow. Eventually I joined as well, lost 70lbs through training BJJ. We spent a year here before moved out of state but our time at Comprido BJJ has left ignighted a life long passion for the art and as a result has special place in our hearts. I cant say enough good things about this academy. Check it out!

I moved to Chicago in July and have been training at Compridos since then. Comprido and Marcelo are great instructors for all levels. GI, NO GI, and Wrestling classes are offered. Night sessions M through TH. Saturday morning also. Currently there is lunch time training on M W & FR. There is wide variety of belts training at all sessions. Drilling and training rolls are top notch. Plenty of parking at Stratford Square Mall. Please check the training schedule on Facebook or call to verify type of training and time hack.

The location is very accessible to major highways. You are taught directly by Comprido a BJJ legend and that should just be the selling point right, but you have world class professors teaching as well. The jiu jitsu is world class but so are the people involved in the gym. You will have nothing but a positive experience here.

Ive been fortunate enough to be in several high end gyms, but I have to say Ive never felt as at home as I feel in Compridos gym. Comprido is not only one of the most accomplished BJJ practioners in history, but his ability to relay the information to his students is nothing short of outstanding. Comprido has always been more than willing to help and truly invest himself into each of his students. I would wholeheartedly recommend Comprido and his gym to anyone in the area. As a white belt female who is literally newbie to brazilian jiu jitsu, it can be possibly tough to find the right gym. Im confident to say that all the instructors and students have a lot of respect for each other which naturally promotes the perfect environment for the training. There is no slacking off but lots of work and learning.

One of the black belts teaching there Professor Marcos Escobar is a great coach who is very detailed when instructing his classes and a coach who cares a great deal for his students! Definitely should learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from him!

The school owner, Comprido is not only a world renowned Brazilian Ju Jitsu expert (winning multiple world championships, coaching multiple UFC and professional Mixed Martial artists) but he is also a great teacher and friend. You see that in the way he actually teaches the classes and coaches the students, especially the kids. No student (no matter what BJJ level or fitness level) is ever not coached at the top level. He takes his time with everyone, and you learn in the proper way, similarly to the way BJJ is taught in Brazil. You wont ever get a different price for a different level of teaching. He is honest, fair, and ethical.The facility is well equipped and very clean. This isnt your standard filthy MMA gym.
