We send both of our children to Evert any time we can. The staff is super attentive and really take an interest in making sure that both of them not only continually improve, but have fun doing it. Evert has become the kids tennis home away from home and we have nothing negative to say. Summer camps are great, but if you can swing it, brushing up during the school year really keeps things going in the right direction. Thanks again to John, the other coaches (Especially Reggie, Martin and Adrain), as well as the back office staff that makes it all happen. Chris and Shannon Nelson

Can’t say enough great things about Evert Academy. Every time our 15 year old son stays at the academy he has a fantastic experience and his tennis improves. He finds the tennis and fitness both challenging and rigorous and enjoys working with all of the coaches and players. As parents we like the warm family-like environment and the oversight ensuring he is safe and completing his academic responsibilities. To top it off it’s a beautiful facility with great food options. We highly recommend!

My 13 year old daughter had the best week of her life at the Evert Academy in December. She improved more in a week than she did all Fall. The pros are fantastic - very positive, enthusiastic, and wonderful on technique. The people who run the place are great. You cant help feeling more excited about tennis when you see Chris Evert on the court, pros and college players practicing, and young players working on their game.We are going to go back every chance we get.

My daughter recently attended during an unfortunate tough run of rain and the customer service was excellent to help us through it. They were able to fit in plenty of tennis, and she came home clearly improved. Just as importantly, she had great fun on the courts over a couple weeks, and is even more enthusiastic about loving and learning the sport.

We live in NY full time and my son attended the holiday camp for the second time and absolutely loves the academy! The instructors knowledge and conscientous manner in teaching the students is remarkable and easy to understand/execute. Moreover, the students at the academy help and challenge each other daily. We plan on letting him attend as much as possible.

My daughter was attended a weekly camp during Spring 2015. She is an intermediate level player, and was grouped with similar players (3-4 in a group). The drills were conducted by pros, similar to what I see in tennis centers in the North East. There was no assessment or individual attention, even though they had asked for areas of improvement. There wasnt a big take away or breakthrough during the week. The only benefit was probable when my daughter remarked that the director was present during a drill session, and yelled at her for being technically incorrect. He then shifted his attention to better players. The next day I made it a point to spend time watching these better players and was able to get some valuable points.Overall the experience was no better than having lessons at any other ordinary club, other than the wow factor for my child. It might just not be worth travelling to Florida for it.

06-2019: No matter if it is a summer or semester tennis program you all at ETA family are very friendly and ETAs great the company culture / purpose is visible positively. Set up for players who truly want to be committed and further challenge their limits in life. Professional and well organized 360-degrees approach from passionate tennis coaching to very well managed daily life flow including the academics. Excellent spirit are flavored with “very determinant, yet serious want to progress accountability”, but also “life is not too serious” angle. Special thanks to Julian, Jacopo, Tina and whole Evert family. Also big thanks to Boca Prep International School Stan, Susan and whole faculty. Keep up the awesome work !

The Thanksgiving Holiday camp was an excellent experience for both of our children. They benefitted tremendously from the professional training in an atmosphere that was both intensive yet supportive. The entire staff was extremely professional, attentive and knowledgeable. We were also very impressed with the coaches, especially Duby and Adrian with whom our children worked with specifically. The coaching staff has a keen ability to quickly diagnose those areas that need improvement and our children were able to develop those areas over the course of their stay, leaving with a plan to work on at home. Furthermore, the involvement of both Chris and John could not be more evident, as they both were on court helping to hone the skills of the players. If you are looking for first class tennis training, the Evert Tennis Academy should be your first and only choice.

My 13 year old daughter attended the Spring Break Camp at Evert Academy. It was an amazing experience and she had a great time. Every staff member did their best to make it a memorable time. The coaching is excellent with each player receiving individualized attention to maximize their potential. There is a good balance between coaching, fitness, mental and match play sessions and of course having some fun! The facilities are outstanding. My daughter spent the week in the dormitory and made great friends and great memories. Every staff member made an effort to make us feel welcome. Thank you to Chrissie Evert for personally meeting all the players. What a privilege for a young player to meet a great lady, player and professional of the sport. I can highly recommend Evert Academy. A particular thank you to Jacopo, Edmee, Omieka, Sofiko and Tina for making our trip so special.

I worked at this dump for 15 years before recently getting a better job at USTA. There are numerous problems here including the soft nature of the privileged rich spoiled brat students who couldn’t perform under the threat of being eaten by my lizard or by allligator if they lost. They also couldn’t run 5 marathons in a row so my lizard ate all of them. The director was the lizards main target but he would always throw small children towards the lizard and the lizard would get distracted and would eat the small child instead of the director. The lizard also was busy eating some of the millions of rats and other rodents that litters the place. My lizard was mistreated and none of the students would try to talk him because they were scared of getting eaten, which illustrates how soft they are. I nicknamed every single student charmin ultra soft so I couldn’t tell who was who and if they anything they were eaten by my lizard. The lizard hates the director because the director would throw students into a nearby lake where they were eaten by an alligator instead of the lizard, stealing the lizards food and business. The lizard also hates how the director always injected 10 pounds of marijuana into his right buttcheek in front of all of the students because he said that the director was a distraction. The only person the lizard avoided was tina who he said was like satan. He was afraid that she would eat him. She also rode a giant spider named red around the facility who would devour the students by fours whenever they fell asleep at any point during there time at Evert or breathed incorrectly. The lizard and red were friends but the lizard hated how tina treated red as she would whip him if he didn’t eat a student in .000000001 seconds. One kid who was always talking about his fishing pole was eaten by the lizard 18 times in one minute. Another kid who looked like he had cancer kept saying words that started with V using a W sound, which angered the alligators. The alligators would climb out of the lake and walk to the dorms and would climb the window and eat the student every night. The mortality rate is over 1 billion percent as mists students die at least 20 times during their time at Evert. Statistically speaking, there are more fatalities here in one day than there have been anywhere else in the world in the history of mankind. I would strongly recommend sending your child elsewhere if you don’t want him to be eaten by a giant spider, my lizard, or an alligator. The staff will not protect you as they are afraid of tina and the wrath of the animals and are only focused on their own survival.

This academy is absolutely TERRIBLE. DO NOT spend your money here. It may be great for the very top percentage of players who are looking to go pro or get a D1 scholarship, but all the attention of the coaches and directors ends up being put into those top few players. Forget the intermediate players. When the director makes the schedule each morning, he will put you in the same exact group that youve been in for the past how many days. Therefore you get no variety in who you play with. And if you suggest to be put into a slightly higher level group to get the experience and variety, theyll throw a fit. Not to mention that as soon as you suggest this, youll get treated differently by the coaches and directors. They wont say hi anymore, and will even dismiss the childs parents, as if they did something wrong too. There are plenty of other academies around the area that have a much better program than Evert. Oh, and lets not forget to mention the kids that attend the academy. They are all in cliques and youll make no friends because theyre not very accepting, and can be really mean. Especially if you end up staying in their dorms (which is like a prison), youll feel very left out. And forget their food. Its trash and is the same week after week. The only okay thing about this academy is their fitness, which does help you improve physically. But the main reason of going here is to improve at tennis, right? Dont come here if youre not in the very top percentage of players, because they get all the coach attention. Go to Rick Maccis, or any other academy near Boca. Youll have a much better experience than at this crappy academy.

As a tennis journalist who had more respect in the tennis community than Federer, I expected excellence from Evert Academy. However, I was strongly disappointed after recently visiting. I walked into the beautiful pro shop and with met with screams of terror as the director and children were sprinting away from a giant lizard. A man called Gunna who has “drip,” was riding the lizard like a horse and encouraging it to chase after and eat the children and the director. Gunna (a coach) was angry at the director and the children for disturbing the lizards feeding. The director was the main target, and I saw him grab a small girl and throw her into them out of the lizard to distract the lizard and this allowed him and me to escape. I was then taken to the courts and watched an intense and pointless session of drilling as students did the same drill for hours and were yelled at for breathing incorrectly. In fact, one boy would frequently hit inside in forehands instead of inside out forehand and he was thrown 500 feet into a nearby lake by a coach. He was then devoured by an alligator. Of the 20 kids, 16 were thrown into the lake and were eaten by or ate an alligator. I was then taken to the dorms where children slept and ate. I was served a meal made of rats and pubic hair, which the children devoured as if it were the best meal ever made. I asked one child who told me that this was the chefs special and was the best food they would receive all semester. Usually, the food is shipped in once a month from the local sewers as the waste is converted into food and then added to a pile of donkey feces and served to the children. Then I was shown the dorm rooms and saw that there were only two rooms for 100 children. There were also only 2 bathrooms and 1 bed as the rest slept on the floor with the thousands of cockroaches, spiders, and other vile insects like bedbugs that littered the place. Then I had the privilege of watching coach Gunna run fitness. He was the only person with high quality character there (despite the fact that he is a convicted felon on the run from the police). He forced the children to run 3 marathons per fitness sessions without stopping. The children were eaten by Gunna’s lizard if they stopped and they had five fitness sessions a day. Lastly, I met a woman named Tina who is easily the worst person I have ever met. I learned that she was solely responsible for the poor food, dorms, schedule, and mental heath of students. She once whipped a student for sleeping more than 30 minutes in one night as she felt he was “lazy.” She would also throw kids into the lake every time they went to the bathroom, forgot to breathe while doing push-ups, or even sat without correct posture. The academy has many problems and most of which are caused by Tina.

I definitely recommend this academy. First, it is a full time tennis academy. There are no other camps(soccer,Golf, etc, etc). The variety of kids from other nationalities was huge. My daughter played with girls from Russia, South America, Canada, etc, etc. Her group session was with other players with the same skill level. The groups were (4:1) sessions. Also during the match play in the afternoon, although the coaches were not there 100% of the time present, most of the time were there. If a kid was winning games easily, they will bring other kid with a higher skill level and vice versa. The 1:1 sessions were really good. They send you a week evaluation, which is a really good one for continuos practice at your home. The online customer service is an excellent one. All my question were answer everytime. They have an excellent stringing service. I will improve the security since it is open for everyone(although we felt safe) and add more non-coach staff

He loved the tennis coaching , the atmosphere, his new friends, the evening activities, etc.... We also appreciated very much the organisation of the camp. The staff was very responsive and accommodated at best our special requests. This is very re-assuring for parents to feel that there is a staff dedicated to make our kids stay as comfortable as possible. Our son felt immediately part of the camp and made new friend in no time. We will come back next year for sure!!

This academy is the single worst academy in the United States and quite possibly the world. My 13 year old daughter attended a summer camp recently and was often ignored by seemingly arrogant coaches who only payed attention to better players whom they hoped they could develop into elite college or professional players. However, with closer inspection, I noticed that these “better players,” often seemed disinterested in being there and many lacked any noticeable skills other than missing every other ball in seemingly pointless drills. The coaches were also extremely harsh on kids who missed balls while seemingly pushing themselves. I witnessed various coaches yelling obscenities at players while failing to encourage them to improve. This type of environment will often discourage improvement because students will focus on pleasing their volatile coaches instead of improvement. Kids often seemed disinterested and unhappy and I overheard many students who were rightfully complaining about the volatile nature of both girls and boys coaches, while also comparing the Evert dorms to a prison. The coaches also seemed to lack communication as my daughter was promised some kind of orientation and was merely told to go to court 5 and wasn’t given any indications about the schedule. She also stayed in the dorms because she was interested in attending the academy full time. She noticed that the kids were often distant and made no attempt to interact with her. When she finally interacted with them, they advised her to avoid Evert due to the lack of improvement players have shown, the subpar academics, terrible rooming conditions, daunting day to day schedule, horrendous and often undercooked food. My daughter noticed that the food was often old, severely undercooked, and extremely poor in quality. She showed my pictures of seemingly undercooked low quality pork that was pink on the inside. The dormimg workers were somewhat accommodating but seemed to despise fun as my daughter was told that students were blocked from viewing Netflix, using Spotify and other seemingly harmless apps during the school year. She also found that the food made her feel sick, which is why she avoided it at all costs. The most egregious misconduct at the Evert academy was the poor sportsmanship and poor line calls made by students who were given attention by the Directors. I noticed that they all used poor sportsmanship by celebrating on double faults and other unforced errors. Many students often made poor line calls that were blatantly obvious to spectators with coaches watching. Coaches would ignore the poor sportsmanship of the players. The actions of the players and coaches demonstrated a profound lack of character within the academy. Coaches were often seemed berating players for missing shots or for supposed lack of effort but the director would ignore the horrendous line calls of his “star,” players who actually lack any kind of pro potential. The fitness was often disorganized and she found that the fitness was not at all beneficial. She also did not receive mental coaching at all, which advertised on the website. This academy charged me nearly $1,400 and my daughter did not benefit at all and felt that she wouldn’t go back to Evert even if she was payed to go. The lack of integrity rampant within the academy, the lack of quality of players, the horrendous dorms, the downright terrible coaching staff, and the ridiculous price makes Evert the worst tennis academy in the world.

Stumbled across these reviews and felt compelled to add my 2 cents worth after reading a few of the negative ones. Everyones experience is obviously different but I cannot say enough good things about the operation at Evert Academy. My son is a senior in high school and we live in rural NC where training opportunities are very limited and lots of travel is required. We have been to several academies and I was a bit surprised to be so impressed with Evert. Everyone we came into contact with was a professional- the staff lead by Edmee and Anne was super helpful in the lead up, the coaches embraced my son from the first day and the full-time kids couldnt have been nicer. We did not experience the clique mentality another reviewer mentioned. The staff truly went over and above. A couple of examples: Jacopo, the director took 30 minutes out of his day midweek and gave me a call to update me on my sons progress. It was obvious from his thoughtful comments that he had done his homework on my sons game. My son played a local tourney at the end of the week for which we did not sign up and pay for coaching because my wife was there. At most academies, when you dont pay for coaching, you will rarely see a coach at your childs match but the Evert coaches (Carlos, Ben, Adriano and Reggie) not only watched several of my sons matches, they offered coaching advice when allowed (hope Im not getting you guys in trouble here;). The coaches even texted my son to come warmup before his finals match- trust me, this stuff doesnt happen at other academies. Not only that but my son, who is a pretty high level player, told me that the coaches taught him some things during the week that he successfully applied in the tourney- hows that for instant feedback?!We will certainly be back to Evert very soon!
