I took a cooking class here recently with a few friends. Two of my friends that I went with had been before but me and another friend hadnt. It wasnt what I expected. It is a single room kitchen with some tables to sit at. I thought it would be a bigger place where each group had their own cooking stations and you would make the food in smaller batches for yourself. I thought it would be like in the movie Hitch or as my other friend thought, in the TV show Friends. The food was okay, nothing I would make at home, but it was a fun experience and I would definitely go back for a diff type of cooking class with friends or a date. Its a cool interactive event to do with a nice group.

Pass on these classes. I tried a language class, painting, and adobe. The Adobe class was a waste of time, the instructor spent almost the whole class talking about himself or telling jokes. He taught maybe 30 minutes worth of material in a four hour class. Each time I take a class I hope this time it will be good.Youre much better off getting a subscription to Lynda. Two of the five instructors behaved awkwardly with the women in the class. (The other three instructors were women so Im not sure what it says about the male instructors they hire.)The cancellation policy is very unforgiving. I was in an accident but because I didnt give them the required time to cancel I lost the money for the course. Next time when Im in an accident Ill be sure to schedule it around my BCAE class. Except, this time I learned my lesson and wont try to take any more classes.

I have enjoyed all of the classes I have signed up for. I have had several strokes and am paralyzed on on the left side, but that has not prevented me from taking classes since the instructors have made sure I still participated in whatever class I’m in and the other students along with whoever is at the desk making sure I am able to get everything from the class. I would give BCAE 41/2 stars for their classes~mMs. Lee Jensen

Came here for an event for a charity event for work. There was cooking demonstrations going on in every room in this modern educational facility. From what I understand they host a series of events here constantly. They focus on classes in food and wine, computers, the arts, health and fitness, and english/ESL. Quite a fantastic organization. BCAE is the oldest non-profit in New England focusing on adult continuing education. I would highly recommend looking into their classes and programs.

I had an extremely disappointing cooking class experience. The instructor was not only ill-prepared, but he taught me virtually nothing despite the heavy price I paid for the class (Dim Sum and Then Some). Students had to keep correcting the instructor as he forgot ingredients!I would not have gone through the trouble to write a negative review, but after I contacted the BCAC concerning my dismay (despite all the very wonderful things Id heard about the center), they completely ignored my comments. I was not looking for a refund, just some concern for how terribly the class was executed... but all I got was radio silence.I genuinely hope that my experience was due to the instructor having a bad day or something, but I had high expectations, an extremely disappointing class, and terrible customer service.

I was more than disappointed with French 1 language course and its teacher Mr. Presume. While I was contacting BCAE multiple times no action was taken.First, I would like to take advantage of the occasion to express my disappointment with the reduced duration of an average class. Mr. Presume was coming late to the class multiple times for more than 15 min. The delays were not compensated in any manner.

I was fortunate enough to take an advanced Photoshop class at the BCAE. The class size was small, which was nice because we were learning some very technical skills and our teacher gave us more one-on-one attention than if I were to take the class at a local college. The course was taught by a very cool guy who talked like he was from the 30s. He had some great skills that he learned and made class entertaining by giving us small assignments. All-in-all it was a great experience and I got to learn some new skills that I use for fun and for work. Id recommend this classes at the BCAE to everyone!

I have come twice to the Center for Adult Education to take Thai cooking classes and have had a blast both times with out instructor Panu. The first class I took was a Thai noodle class, which covered about 4 different noodle dishes including pad thai. The second class was called Thai street food, and we made some meat on a stick, som tom salad (papaya salad), Gai Pow, and sticky rice. Each class lasted about 3 hours, and there was about 30 minutes of classroom instruction going over the ingredients, about an hour of prepping the kitchen and ingredients, and then an hour and a half to cook and eat.The facilities are very nice, and included everything we needed for our class of about 12 people. The room was slightly smaller than would be ideal, and when it was time to do the hands on cooking there wasnt always enough room for everyone to participate. I highly recommend coming with some friends and taking something that you are interested in. Our instructor Panu gave us recipes to take home so we could practice what we learned and I have tried a few of them with great success. I cant wait to visit again soon. Look out for discount deals and sign up for their email list, they typically offer classes at 30% off.
