As a previous student of Temple Grandin School I feel like I can give a fairly accurate review for potential new students and their families. I feel like they do a lot right and a lot wrong. The teachers are very kind and dedicated for the most part, but there is a high turnover rate (at least when I was attending), which made learning certain subjects extremely difficult and sometimes nearly impossible. However, my main issue was that the higher-up staff. The higher-up staff members dont have the necessary problem solving skills needed for many of the more difficult problems that arise in a schooling environment, most of all in a “adapted learning” environment. This school is beneficial for the less-abled student population, but is not the best choice for the more-abled students.

My son is in his second year at Temple Grandin School (eleventh grade) and he is so much happier than he was in public school. Middle School was tough, but in 9th grade he was miserable, with head aches and stomach aches from the stress of trying to learn and fit in where he didnt feel accepted. We needed to make a change or risk so many things (Would he finish high school? Would he be able to support himself as an adult? Would he have the confidence and tools to achieve his potential?Would he even survive public high school?). He is still excelling in advanced math and learning social skills in every class. His ability to express himself and his interest in his world has grown in his short time at TGS. He is a leader amongst his peers here and gaining confidence along the way. I am grateful for this school and its amazing teachers and staff!
