My daughter and I recently started Aikido at Boulder Ki Aikido, and we’ve been having a wonderful experience. With superb instructors (who are attentive and seasoned), a spacious and elegant dojo, and an easy check-in app, Boulder Ki Aikido is the perfect place to learn Aikido. As a new practitioner, but with other martial arts and fitness prior experiences, I found Aikido to be an excellent combination of breathing, focus, posture, physical ability, control, and self defense—and BKA’s instructors emphasize each of these elements. The teen class is perfect for my daughter; she feels comfortable and welcome in it. Finally, the measures they have in place regarding the pandemic are strong, making us feel safe while we add the awesome benefits of Aikido to our living.

Love this place sensei Abel is the most patient person with the kids and can teach both the adults and kids simultaneously. His ability to calm the kids and teach is superior. Our daughter loves the class and we go as a family. I couldnt recommend this place enough.

I did Aikido in college and for my oldest child it was obvious he needed to engage in a martial art - but as a boy I needed it to be about focus, movement of aggression and letting go. Not how strong am I but more about - what are my inner strengths. These are the founding principles of Aikido. That’s why we came here and I’ve been nothing but very impressed and grateful since. My child has a home here with a community and a place to work on energetics of emotion and moving with it. He has friends he goes to hang out with outside his school community and that’s really important for young kids to learn to reach beyond what is just in the immediate. This kind of community is vital to any child, or especially as they grow up and transition to tween-hood then teen-hood. Those transitions are honored and recognized in a healthy way in this community. Most importantly in a world full of intensity, this dojo gives a place to work with intensity, outer and inner. It welcomes transformation and communication. It being dialogue and helps create discipline to be the best of all you are in a kind and soft way. It shows force is soft too.If you have a child who needs a place to develop inner confidence a sense of self and non-violent communication - this is it.There are times I share what’s happening for my child in their school with life or siblings and the teachers can help them process it on the mat. This is invaluable.Do not hesitate to try it out.

We visited a number of martial arts studios in Boulder and were really drawn to the fun, focused and connected environment of Boulder Ki Aikido. The instructors are very engaged and the practice is calm and centered. I’ve been attending classes there for nine months and I only get more impressed with the quality of people and the depth of training. I very highly recommend Boulder Ki Aikido.

Our son has been taking private Aikido training with sensei Abel, in addition to participating in group lessons. Both private and group lessons have been good experiences. The private lessons, however, have been amazing. Sensei Abel is very encouraging and teaches important life skills. He is helping our son build confidence, stretch himself mentally and physically, and find his inner strengths.

Aikido is considered one of the safer martial arts, yet its easy to get hurt with any practice if proper form isnt taught and practiced. Boulder Ki Aikido provides great instruction by attentive and experienced instructors.

The instructors and community at boulder Ki aikido set it apart from any other martial art school. The focus of their practice epitomizes martial arts philosophy. First teaching the mind martial arts principles, and then using the physical art as a vehicle to embody those principles. The harmony of these two aspects enlivens a journey toward unification of mind and body that touches any and every aspect of everyday life.Students of all levels work together helping each other learn, and the instructors go above and beyond ensureing every student receives personal training time in every class. The introductory month special makes it easy to try, and you can tell from just a phone call what a difference ki aikido can make for you.
