This was my elementary school. I loved it. Driving past it now makes me realize just how old the school really was/is. Great experience.

The teachers and staff are really working hard for the students. It is a title one school and I was very hesitant to send my children here but our situation deemed me to put them in public school. There are areas which call for improvement as you would find anywhere...Most of the issues stem from lack of parental involvement and emotional intelligence at home. All in all, my children have come to really like it here and both are overachieving in there grade. The only reason it lost one star is there is clearly a lack of funding but that isnt the fault of the school itself.

I feel that Yates Elementary should do background checks before allowing people on their school grounds to interact with children. Recently, Mickey Demings was allowed to speak in front of a 3rd grade class while currently serving a 3 yr probation sentence for obstructing and opposing an officer with violence and petit theft. His background will show multiple violent charges as well as drug and child neglect charges. Info can be found on HCSO websight. Public record!
