Elissas class was a wonderful experience. For someone like me who usually feels a need to take notes and read books, it was easy to participate in another way, and take in much more than I thought would have been possible, just by being present and listening. Elissa has great spirit and thats part of what makes the experience an enthusiastic and positive one.
The BEST way to learn a language! Express Fluency is amazing. If you are hesitant to try an Express Fluency class, try a free one that is offered. You will be amazed at what you learn and no doubt will return for more Express Fluency!
This is the BEST language class I have ever taken, and the BEST language class I can imagine. I have been telling everyone to come, whether they care about another language or not, since it is more than worth it just for the FUN and laughs!! Elissa is the most wonderful, entertaining, caring and engaged teacher you can imagine. Sign up if you are even thinking of it!! You cant possibly regret it!
In one word my experience in this class was PERFECT! I was very apprehensive before the weekend started but from the minute I entered Elissa’s class, all my fears were instantly dispelled! She was warm, inviting, encouraging, patient and most importantly a whole lot of fun!The language was taught using methods targeted at higher retention as opposed to just theoretical knowledge. Things one might think ‘silly’ at first started making sense as the hours went by, as we started hearing ourselves becoming more and more comfortable and conversant…even as I stumbled along!I didn’t know more than maybe 5 words before that first Saturday morning.. but I can confidently say I knew perhaps a hundred or more by the end of Mondays class! I cannot wait to go back for the next immersive weekend. Met a group of lovely, friendly and equally encouraging people over the 3 days and I hope to stay in touch with them and keep my Spanish going.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I cant think of a more fun way to learn (or remember) a language.Elissa starts you off with a couple of key words and phrases and off you go -- whether its an interview of a persona famosa (a classmate with a special talent), a group play co-written and acted out by classmates (I got to be Señora Ed Friskey -- a chocolate-loving horse who accompanied cowgirl Annie to Guatamala), or a marketplace with lots of props to buy and sell. It doesnt matter how much background you have - some speak fluently ; others (like me) are more of the took-one-year-of-Spanish-in-high-school-decades-ago-and-want-to-learn-some-key-phrases. Its laughs, repetition, encouragement and some pretty unusual ways to remember basic vocabulary.
