Great school. Have been doing excavation, underground utilities, and hauling heavy equipment every since attending this school. Gives you all around great basic knowledge of the machines and definitely helps knowing how to maintain them. If I could tell anyone to add to their heavy equipment experience, get your class a cdl with it and you’ll have way more fun.

I just wanted to send a quick follow-up. I hired one of your graduates and he has been an absolutely outstanding equipment operator for us! He is steady and deliberate in his movements, takes great care of our equipment/customers and has kept an outstanding attitude as we teach him our methodologies and strategies in how we operate our business. He is currently running the sales loader position at our busiest location and is doing a great job…I’ll take 2 more if him if you have them! Thanks again…

Disclaimer**** This is a review about calling the place, not about attending****When I contacted Heavy Construction Academy on Facebook, they got back to me within a day. Then after about a half hour, one of their staff members called me. They did leave a message since I couldnt pick up. Then when I called back, I connected to Wes and I got all the information that I needed... starting from, the cost of the tuition, (which is pricey, but they do have a loan office) all the way to them telling me that they help you find a job, they provide lodging and that you will be certified for 8 different heavy machinery. Thank you Wes, you have been a great help. I look forward to attending the school next summer.

Having the opportunity to attend HCA was truly a blessing. One of the best schools that I’ve ever attended. The staff is well aware of using VA benefits and were able to expedite the process for me to ensure that I was able to get a class seat and that I was receiving pay. Especially considering that 80% of my class was prior military. The instructors were very knowledgeable and professional during there periods of instruction and also tailored the the material to each individual so that the entire class had a holistic understanding of what was being taught. My favorite part was that most of the instruction took place in the field during practical application. This is where I learned and retained the most. Bill, Nate, Jordan, and Rick are true professionals who are dedicated to training their students.Courtney and Christine in Career Services also share the same dedication to their students in ensuring that we all landed careers after the school ended. They reworked my resume for me which made me an even more desirable candidate to employers. With Career Services help, by week 4 of school I had 4 interviews set up. I accepted a job by week 5 through one of the schools’ partner companies and began working the following Monday after graduation.I can’t thank HCA enough for everything they’ve done for me and the experience I had was amazing. Highly recommended this school for someone looking to get into this career field. This school is a great choice where you have experience in this field or not.

This school gives you all the tools to get out and get started in heavy equipment operations. The instructors are top notch and very knowledgeable. The class sizes are perfect for those that need more 1 on 1 attention without sacrificing time from other students. Every student get his/her own piece of equipment everyday, no sharing. The equipment is very well maintained. They have on site mechanics there for all mechanical issues. The career services the offer are as great as you make them. They are not going to hand you a job, but if you put the effort in you will land a job within a few days of leaving the school if not before you leave. Very much so would recommend this school hands down over any other school in the country.

I came to the HCA in January to change my career path and its one of the best decisions Ive made. The instructors take the time to make sure you know what youre doing and encourage you to ask your questions. They have great senses of humor and will laugh with you. If youre in a piece of equipment and are unsure about what youre doing, theres a radio so you can talk to the instructor, and that radio was my best friend for my first few weeks when everything was so new. (Poor Bill. He and Kevin were incredibly patient.)I had an awesome group of classmates and have made some lifelong friends. I was the only woman in a class of 23, but I felt welcome and accepted from Day 1. The instructors and my pack really brought out the best in me.The Career Services office was a great help in finding work in a new field, and Lori was fantastic as we worked together on my resume. My biggest fear before deciding to enroll was whether Id be employable, but I had a job offer the day before graduating the program. I start my new job soon, and Im wicked excited!

After attending the school for six weeks I gain so much knowledge and experience. This school sets you up success. They literally make your resume for you and teach you great job interview skills. They are very hands on, which in my opinion is the best way to learn. I can honestly say since I graduated in December of 2015 I havent been unemployed for more than a month or two. Im just proud to tell my employer I went there. It really helps out here in the St. Louis, MO area where most places are hard to get a decent paying job in the construction field. I say to all veterans this is a great life decision especially when transitioning out of the military life back to civilian. Just know that those who want something out of life will get it if they put fourth the effort.

I went to this training several years ago. They paid for the flight there and back, the hotel while attending, the hotel had breakfast for us every morning and lunch was provided for us at the training facility. The only thing you are responsible for is your dinner and on the weekends. The hotel we stayed in while there was close to Walmart so that we could get food while there as well as other restaurants. The training is 6 weeks and most people think that 6 weeks is a long time but with the very informative instructors in the class room and out in the field in your own equipment that 6 weeks goes fast. Each piece of equipment has a radio and at anytime you got a question instead of shutting down your machine and getting out to go ask the instructor you can just talk to him directly without anyone else knowing you are talking to them. The instructors set up exercises where they will test your knowledge and operating skills to make you a better operator. At the end of the program no you will not be a master of each piece of equipment but you will have the knowledge of that equipment and can build on that yourself in your career as a heavy equipment operator. I went to work for my local city and after 2 years I made crew chief and in the process now of becoming a field operations supervisor. I have to give credit to Heavy Construction Academy and their staff for the help along the way.

This was by far one of the best decisions in my career! The instructors ( level one: Bill & Jim, level two: Mack & Craig) were excellent in regard to teaching, and providing assistance when you were struggling. Incredibly informative while creating a comfortable environment to ask questions if need be! The time broke down to approximately 1/3 class practical, to 2/3 actual in the field seat time! The focus is on teaching you the essentials in class so you can implement them in the field. As mentioned before, each student has their own piece of equipment to utilize! No sharing, or waiting to get stick time! You are running Equipment the whole time in the field! The environment closely simulates a working site in that you are operating around other equipment, and must learn safe operation around other equipment. The facility if very large, the equipment is expertly maintained on site, and the student to teacher ratio is ideal. After spending over 20 years in the construction business I had reached a point where I knew it was time for the next step! I had worked my way up from being a laborer, but, came to a point that my experience was strong, but I lacked credentials that justified the higher pay. I had operated equipment prior to coming to the school, but was getting paid far less than should be expected because I didnt have formal operator training. In January 2017 I knew it was time for a change! It was a very difficult decision because I knew it would entail committing substantial time and money to make it happen. Needless to say, I did my research. I looked at a total of 5 different schools. Of all of the schools, HCA had the most to offer! They take care of lodging, provide lunch on site ( Good lunch!! Subs! Pasta with meatballs or chicken, and pizza!! And, very generous portions!), and provide transportation if needed! You are provided everything you need! You just bring a willingness to learn, and a drive to succeed!I am very happy about my decision to attend, and have told numerous people about my experience!

Fantastic experience, Awesome instructors such as ...Bill, Nate, Jim, and Rick. They gave me alot of 1 on 1 training to hone in my skills as an operator. From everything I learned to everyone in career services, this school is everything I was looking for in a trade school. Every student is in their own piece of equipment everyday, and rotate equipment everyday as well. This school will teach you everything you need to know about being a safe/quality operator. But nothing they teach you means anything unless you apply yourself both in class and in career Services. If you read a bad review on this school its because that person didnt apply herself/himself and didnt take it seriously. But all things aside, I would recommend this school to anyone who is serious about starting a new career and new life as a heavy equipment Operator. This School is worth the training, Bill, Nate, Jim, and Rick are the best instructors around and they know their stuff. If the intricacies were different this school wouldn’t be able to function. If you know nothing about Heavy equipment this is the place to go to get the knowledge and stick time. They emphasized on Safety, and made sure you followed that up with quality work...... nothing against the instructors or training..... Now on the other hand they WAY OVERCHARGE FOR PPE, they charged me for $225 for a pair of boots I could have bought for $85! The boot truck women was snarky I tried to order a different set she made it very difficult to the point where I took the size they had... over charged for your $1 safety glass, overcharged on hard hat and vest... YOUTUBE IS MISLEADING THEY SAID ELECTRIC GREASE GUNS BUT THEY GIVE NOTHING. Career services is just as good as a computer because their partnerships are non existent and not once was I offered anything. Main guy is great at shooting your dreams out of the sky, shiela is possibly the only hope for career services. I found my job interviews on my own. That being said I know I paid for the training but they definitely made it sound like they were going to do more work than They did. For $18,700 the lunch taste good if you can get what you want we had to fight for the same old boring food everyday, there was no choices, somedays I did not eat. There were 27 students in my class so for $504,900 we should at least have a choice. The owner seemed ok, wasn’t around really. THE HOTEL SUCKS, MISLEADING, HOTEL STEALS OUT OF YOUR ROOM, MOLD UNDER ALL SINKS.

I recently attended this school and I left having very mixed views of the place. Let me get the good out the way because there is definitely alot there. Bill who is an level 1 instructor is the best as it gets. Hes not only knowledgeable about his trade and craft, but hes a real people person. I came up to the school literally not knowing anything about the construction business and he took his time to make sure I understood everything that was being taught. I cant say enough about Bill and all that he does for the school. In my opinion hes the reason why things run smoothly at the school. Jim and Craig who are level 2 instructors are phenomenal as well, they really see to it that you maximize your efforts and potential during the back half of the training. The instructors are tremendous at what they do. Kevin who also works there is as nice as it comes, really pleasant person to talk to and understand things from a different perspective at being an operator. Brian and Ken were two people who I spoke to often and were beyond nice, and definitely deserve a recognition for their efforts in getting students prepared after the school ends. Im sure Im missing some people who were also very nice and easy to communicate with, for that I am sorry but you know who you are and I appre your support while I was there. OK, I got that out the way, the negatives, where do I begin? Ill start with the owner of the school, he comes across as very arrogant, mean, someone whos the smartest person in the room, confrontational, inappropriate, aggressive and steals Valor. When confronted with why his school was allegedly being dropped by the VA, he was very confrontational, demonstrative and belligerent. Digging in your pants while addressing the people who not attend your school but paid for it with their VA benefits comes across as disrespectful. He wants you to think that hes doing all these wonderful things for you such as your lunch while your there and the very disgusting motel you stay at while attending the school, news flash, you havent done anything and its extremely disrespectful to take valor for something that veterans work their asses off for. You feed us? You house us? Stop the lies, the last time I checked the yellow pages I didnt find you under p for philanthropist. The VA paid you exactly what you told them it would cost to send a veteran here to learn from your school. He could of said he didnt like the Mets because he was a Yankees fan, he could of said he didnt like NYC because he repped bean town, but to say you feed us?? You house us?? Is a complete slap in the face to anyone whos ever served this great nation. I asked to speak with him in private to discuss some of these matters and he blatantly shrugged me off. It became apparent that the students who attend his school are nothing more than cash cows to him, he could care less about your opinions or concerns. So I said all of that to say, if you want strong direction from your instructors itd be hard to find people better than Bill, Jim and Craig, and in the same breath if you want to be disrespected, and deal with semantics that you dont need in your life also go to this school because youll get more than you bargained for. Their is alot more that I can say, but Ill leave it at that.

I attended HCA in the summer of 2015. Overall, it was a good experience. The instructors at the time were knowledgeable, all but one had a negative attitude. The others were pleasant and great to work with. The actual training portion itself was very intense and was geared to ensure we understood the lessons and tasks be taught. Another thing that could have been different or better was the living quarters. They were fine as far as accommodations, EXCEPT for the wifi/internet. There were some things we as students could not accomplish during our off time due to no internet connectivity. Again, that was in 2015, so Im sure that issue has been resolved by now since we brought it up to the training Director. He was aware of the issue and assured us it would be fixed. Other than that, it was a great learning environment, the instructors were very knowledgeable and committed to our success (as well as the administration and staff), the lunches were great and catered in everyday for us. The one thing I really appreciated were the staff who assisted in us in career building such as resumes and introducing us to different resources to help us gain employment upon graduation. It was my first time in the New England region and it was a great experience overall. I recommend this school to anyone interested. Thanks.

My family member attended this school and it is one of the best schools in united states. Instructors are great, office administration walks you through, career services help you find job.Now its important for students to be in school everyday and take tests and exams on schedule days. If any student is not serious and continues to ditch school and be tardy then its their loss and its their problem not the schools. Overall this is an A+++++++ school. Owner of school is down to earth to helpvyou. You need a career change , HCA Academy is the place for Heavy equipment operations. They also had female students from Hawaii and California who I were strong ladies as seen on theur noard. Wow this is amazing school. HCA has helped my family member and changed their life. Thank you and I. Wish them best of luck in their education and training services

I loved this school! As a non veteran (civilian) I thoughoughly enjoyed and reaped the benefits of this school! In my neighboring state of New Hampshire, I was able to travel to the school and stay in NH w my family members and scoot back to Maine on the weekend. I obviously dont have a GI bill so after seeing the schools prices I was afraid I wasnt able to get in. I made a call to admissions anyway because of the great things I heard! They worked w me using merit scholarships and gave me a discount if I could put down a certain percentage cash, and the next available class I would pay the rest of the tuition. It was worth every penny. I reaped the benefits of knowledgeable operations and excavation professionals and opened up great avenues, led me to a job even before graduating. Ive learned so much over time, I was no rookie to equiptment before I attended a lot of the fine details and industry specific tricks came from here ! So thankful I attended this school, now thanks to the credabile staff at HCA my resume is stacked, and has afforded me several jobs and opportunities in general! In todays economy its nice to have job options! For the past 8 months Ive been primarily running a 44 ton d8t dozer and I love it. Im an equipment operator at a local mill !! I love wht I do and have started an awesome, lucrative career at 23 y/o! I would suggest this school to anyone looking for a change of pace and in todays competitive job market, you will have the upper hand at your next interview !

Well worth the time spent. The Instructors in both Level 1 and Level 2 took the time to explain things. I came to HCA without any experience with Heavy Construction Equipment. After Graduation on the 19th of May I have had 2 job offers in less than a week and posiblity of statring on the 1st of june after my move. HCA has given me the confidence to go for any Heavy Equipment Operator position. I have, and will continue to tell everyone I meet that has an interest in the Heavy Equipment Industry, the great job and how well HCA takes care of its Students.
